    After listening to the friendlyjordies podcast it revived my anger about this interview. Triple J need to release the full unedited footage of this interview if they want to maintain any semblance of journalistic integrity.
    Anyone that actually looks into this can clearly see its just a character assassination from a government funded newstation of all places.

    Triple J ‘claim’ to be all about mental health, yet just absolutely probe someone who is clearly unwell. And of course, the interviewer got a hard on when Dylan said “boys will be boys” (we know he didn’t mean anything vulgar by it). Absolutely pathetic rubbish from Triple J. Paddy, hope you’re all good, got myself into a similar situation using benzodiazepines to calm anxiety. Hope the boys are killing it and in good health nowadays.

      @OGMillwood Před rokem

      I can see where you're coming from, but the band agreed to do the interview and were in full control of their responses. The "hard on" over the 'boys will be boys' comment was totally justified. It's a term that's been used for generations to excuse shitty, unaccountable male behavior, and Dylan used it in the context of a public apology. I don't know, hey. You can have mental health issues and still be a dickhead. They're not mutually exclusive concepts.

    The one sidedness of this interview is an absolute joke, the interviewer makes me sick to my stomach. What a joke, still infuriates me. Initially talks about how the allegations were never proven and goes to shit on the boys, and exploit Dylan’s Mental Health, suffering from Skitzophrenia / Bipolar myself the way this was handled by the interviewer was disgusting. Didn’t even talk about anything related to coming back and touring or anything. What a joke.

      The 'lads' are in their mid 30's. They're on record with the media with their abuse and their arrogance. Don't you dare bring their mental health into it. They are extremely talented, they have also made a point of being complete tossers. They're jerks.
      Dylan says 'they've never bullied people intentionally'... piss right off. They're certified jerks.

      @@eviehanlon1445 mid 30’s? All this stuff happened like 6-9 years ago? Dylan is 31 right now… if we are ignoring mental health struggles that you clearly have no perception of then nothing is justifiable in the realm of mental health, reactions that he displayed are indicative of his mental health struggles, rather than alienating someone based off of their medical diagnosis rather educate the reality of Skitzophrenia and Bipolar along with his manic highs and lows. He clearly can’t articulate himself in the interview and can tell his anxiety is very high, not to mention how scattered someone is when they are in the thick of Skitzophrenia with his alocohol use. This doesn’t exempt the behaviour, but allot of it is here say which it says so vividly in the interview saying allegations were stripped from media the damage was done.

    This interviewer wanted to have them crawl on their knees.
    Did he want someone to start crying or what? Sticky fingers are great and all for love with their art. These racism accusations make me sick and I hope they won’t let themselves be intimidated by it. Instead of showing some understanding for their mental and physical health, which suffers when you get famous, the media is cancelling them, while pretending to be morally superior. Hypocrisy at its best.

    I feel sorry for Dylan. You would be right to assume that the lead singer and voice of a band makes you automatically charismatic. He has a big mouth and he knows it, and perfectly fine for him to be quiet when he needs.

    After listening to this, I 100% believe Thelma and the other accusers. When you can't apologise without a script - or worse, even articulate what it is you're apologising for - I call bullshit. As someone who has lived with mental health issues throughout my life, I don't think it's an excuse. And if you can't articulate why what you did was wrong, why agree to the interview in the first place? They just seem like a bunch of dude-bros who got held to a higher standard than they ever anticipated. Kinda hard to feel sad about that.

      If he is someone that suffers with mental issues beyond what we know personally, imagine that mixed with being one of the biggest bands out of Australia. There’s pressure from every angle, I wouldn’t be surprised if he also has l anxiety and can’t communicate properly in these situations, which judging from videos of him in the past he’s not one to talk, like at all. He just sings. Some people don’t have it in their nature or personality to be able to communicate so easily… blows my mind when people just assume others have to be a certain way

    • @RAZBRY
      @RAZBRY Před rokem +1

      Load of shit. Not everyone can articulate themselves well, especially in such a setting where there's immense pressure to say the right thing.
      I unfortunately mirror Dylans way of speaking here, as in high pressure situations or even just in general I can't put together the words to convey the message I want.
      As a result I say some dumb, questionable shit and then instantly kick myself over it in my head. This was actually pretty evident by Dyaln as well with his follow up comment after the "boy's will be boys".
      When all's said and done, people make mistakes and learn from them. People that can't acknowledge that and instead drag others through the dirt for said mistakes are a waste of space and energy.

      @@douglasfairmeadow Yeah that was a bit harsh. He did apologise for their drunken behaviour and mentioned about rehab, making people feel intimidated etc. The claims about racism are completely unproven, yet they lost gigs/income because of it. It seems to me, that all you have to do is accuse someone of racism (without proof) and they are presumed guilty. Bit like accusing someone of being pedophile or a communist in the 50's or a witch in the 16th century. Guilty until proven innocent. If it was me, I would take legal action.

      Thelma is a stalker who used Dylan's fame for her own agenda, as did the Dispossessed who specifically invited Dylan to the Rattler and the other wannabes like yourself. People still doing it taking advantage that he is simply not allowed to reply or stand up for himself. Weak gutted dogs everywhere.
