    📚 Description: Today we take a look at the Ormsby Guitars Shark 6! A fanned fret, multi-scaled instrument. This is a pretty modern guitar with those kinds of specs and stainless steel frets!
    The specs call for ebony stripes up the neck - but it sure does look like walnut to me!

    I had a teacher early on tell me that it was best to think of the guitar as having 2 necks. A long one and a short one. the short neck starts at the 12th fret. The brain doesnt really process the 15th 17th or 20th fret easily but if you think of it as another 3rd fret or 5th fret or 10th fret then it falls into place easily.

    A few years ago Perry went on the Australian version of Shark Tank. They said "Love your work mate. You're doing all the right things. Amazing guitars, great business. Not interested." Yep. The discussion then descended into an argument amongst themselves (fuck knows what about, can't remember) while Perry stood there in silence, no doubt wondering wtf he was doing there. Not to worry, he's clearly smashing it without them.

    • @aldrickfondracul9297
      @aldrickfondracul9297 Pƙed 4 lety +12

      I remember that. One of the investors offered a deal that essentially amounted to Ormsby giving her free equity. The argument came when the other investors called her out for trying to fleece him, and then a couple of them did an about-face and offered the same rip-off deal, wanting to basically take over a big chunk of the company for free.

      Kinda new around here Austin - found you about 6 months ago but I have been binge watching your vids. I have concluded that you are indeed a decent human being/good egg. :) And while I may have started my own guitar journey nearly 40 years ago on an el cheapo copy Lincoln sunburst LP, I long ago transitioned to S style guitars and have settled on Ibanez as my brand of choice. Still, I am lucky to count a Suhr HSS superstrat, a core PRS Custom 24, and a couple of Fender American and MIJ Strats in my stable. Now I am looking to add a 7 string, multiscale, fan fret guitar as well as a headless and a Tele to round out the gang. And indeed Ornmsby has been on my radar along with Kiesel.
      While I very much enjoy geek level, exhaustive attention to detail, what I really appreciate is your honesty and your understanding of your own personal biases. Yet, as this video proves, you're not so bull-headed stubborn with your opinions as so many others out there in guitarland. You know those folks - they sound more like evangelists than they do musicians, guitar lovers and music lovers. Those guys I find amusing but won't drink any kool-aid that I haven't cooked up myself. You recognize that there are indeed different strokes for different folks out there and it's all good. Sadly, this last mentality appears to be getting increasingly rare in our modern world. Which is just a stupid, crying shame....
      Another thing that is clear to me after watching so many of your earlier vids - your playing has improved massively in a short period of time! And yes, my friend, you can DJENT. XD
      Cheers - a Trogly sub for life! Thanks and stay safe.....

    Have to try one of these! I've not encountered fan frets before, so that'll be interesting. No to harpoon headstock! Preserve wildlife!

      Thats pretty much what the modern guitar market is currently. Extremely nice finishes and tech advancements no where to be seen in traditional guitars.

    Not really my cup of tea but it sounded pretty damn sweet to my ears. I would never have looked twice at an Ormsby before but I wouldn't kick one out of bed now after hearing this.

    One of my buddies recently got an Ormsby that was lower down the line than this one but he still got the hardshell case, T Shirt, and all the rest of the case candy which at the $1,100ish he spent I would say that was a great value. His also came with Luminol side markers for playing in a dark area or stage. That needs to be an option from all manufactures

    Ok! Austin, your playing is becoming badass. I really liked the guitar but you played it very well for compound string length. I just picked up an Epihone EB-3 thanks to you. I know you haven't reviewed one and they are discontinued, but the Gibson you did review swayed me. I'm having fun and the kids are having fun singing everything between Cake and AC/DC.

    Those tone knobs looks exactly like the mid 00s peavey fury bass knobs. They were great..so no wonder someone else puts in on their guitar!

    I think the fretboard staining is ca glue that they tried to clean up. Looks like there's some glue overflow at the nut as well.
