I think the fact that Toyota will let you order as many accessories as you want with your TrailHunter is really cool, and it shoes that the TrailHunter isn't just some stickers and light package, and they actually did some work on it

The new TrailHunter is a amazing truck with a great starting foot print and with Toyota bring the aftermarket companies onboard is amazing. Clay your portable truck raft is unbelievable! It’s kinda funny I seen a guy that was selling a set of ridge pontoons for quads. And I was thinking about how to do the same thing for a truck. And you have already made it happen. Can’t wait to see them in future adventures. Congrats
The pirate flag moment felt like the original XO (think back to the video of Clay climbing rocks with the sweedish talk track). That was great to see.

I was hoping you guys climbed that hill after docking at the rocky shore.
Would it interest you to know that a group of Aussies did this back in the mid 90s?
They travelled across northern Australia during the wet season. They used much smaller inflatables tied together to get the 2 80 series cruisers and the 75 series cruiser across the swollen rivers up north.
The guys did it for Bushdriver magazine.
Bit of trivia.
Camel Trophy did as well, So did a team recently who drove their Defenders from London to NY.

Just a thought... Electric trolling motor (think rhodan size unit, not your typical bass boat stuff) running on your hybrid power.
Now that is epic! Only bummer is, I kind of feel like my 23 Tundra got left out lol. A trail hunter tundra would’ve been amazing.

I designed a pontoon boat where the pontoons fold up onto the deck , with a trailer axle and a tongue so you pull the whole thing like a trailer. fold down the pontoons, lock them in place , back into the water, unhitch , drive up onto the deck, fold up the tongue, start the out board and away you go.
WIll you be doing a test with the new 2024 Land Cruiser similar to the Trail Hunter in the test ground? Really loved that segment. I also loved this crazyness with the float :)

This is next level in Overland travel! Fantastic job on inventing a mobile boat that goes with the car and be deployed when needed!

time to get a Land Anchor for sand recovery. you can use the Vehicles winch to pull the boat onto land (closer to land)
This is nuts, it looks like it worked really well all things considered. I can imagine this being used in one of your future expedition videos ferrying caravan of trucks 1 by 1 across a body of water. Question about this raft concept, Is this something that can potentially be broken down and carried on a rig and assembled on location?
So this is basically just a commercial for the items that you can order from Toyota for the Trailhunter. Not necessarily the items YOU would choose, but just limited to the Trailhunter drop down menu. Got it. 🤦🏽♂️
The WeBoost antenna is not on the current Trailhunter/Accessories program! We wanted to outfit the vehicle in a way that could be driven home from the dealer with nearly all accessories installed.

I use a eco flow for my battery pack. Unfortunately it requires a pure sign wave to charge with AC. Is the trail hunter capable of changing it with it's AC output?

Great question! Unfortunately, we didn't get that exact measurement this time, so it would be tough to say.
@ExpeditionOverland- The boat frame should be lifted about 6+ inches to get the rectangular frame out of the water, you are adding a LOT of drag every time you dip those frame rails into the waterline.
I wouldn’t waste my breath. If you haven’t figured it out yet these guys aren’t the brightest lightbulbs in the box.

How much power (amp hours) is available from the hybrid battery to run the fridge and induction cooktop? Were you running off the trucks AC inverter and is the output pure or modified sine wave? Can you run the fridge off the beds DC plug to avoid the inverter losses? Can you do dc to dc charging to a separate house battery bank off the hybrid system (given no alternator)?
And finally is the “catarack-truck carrier” part of the Toyota affiliated partner product line available directly from Toyota? 😊

Is the compressor on the truck not sufficient? is that why you had to pack another compressor on top of that?
Automotive air compressors are designed for high pressure/low volume applications like tires. Inflating this raft would require a much higher volume of air. The onboard compressor would probably take a day of continuous use to get the job done!
@@westernwildoutdoors ok but he says specifically in the video "also an air compressor kit for the tires" I'm more thinking it was just hoses in the bag but i would like to know if the compressor on the truck isn't sufficient. I mean in all honesty the raft is cool but this video really didn't tell us or show us anything about the truck at all which is what the series is for. It was more just about the raft.
We just packed an additional kit for hoses and attachments! The built-in compressor is more than enough

It is an option when picking your Trailhunter out from Toyota!
You said you're gonna run the cooktop off of the inverter; and it looked like you were gonna be setup on the tailgate. Wouldn't this mean you're sucking exhaust every time you cook?
The inverter actually taps into the potential of the hybrid battery and only will run the truck when the battery dips below a certain level. Which in our experience is not very often! Ours may have run for a couple minutes during the time it took to get a big pot to boil.
@@ExpeditionOverland you just revealed the answer to what has been a HUGE question with the hybrid. We were all pessimisticly thinking that the system was the same as the Tundra, electricity only available with engine running. But it sounds like it is instead like the f150 powerboost, always available, and auto turns on engine to charge battery as needed. That is a HUGE plus for the truck, and should definitely be clarified/emphasized by Toyota. Thanks for the response!

Please confirm if the trailhunter comes with a moonroof or not. Yours doesn't have, but on Toyota's site it says it comes standard. Need to know if I'm waiting for this or not!
They do! Our vehicle was an early prototype.

On an early interview Sheldon said it doesn’t come with a sunroof, and that truck was a one-off prototype with sunroof? Did that change?
