FREE PLANS FOR CONVENTIONAL WOOD WORKING TOOLS in both; Imperial & Metric measurements also!
This is the third Downeast Thunder Creations Christmas Project for the 2018 Christmas season. It’s a small sleigh for holding live table top Christmas trees, along with other items. I made a couple of them out of interior grade plywood. However, I would recommend using dimensional lumber or an exterior plywood if you intend to use this sleigh as an outdoor decoration.
I made a couple of different versions with different carvings/engravings on the side panels, plus I experimented with doing away with the mortise and tenon joints for attaching the runners. Both ways worked, but in the end, I prefer using the mortise and tenon joints (easy to do if you are building with a X-Carve CNC machine.
This sleigh can easily be made with conventional wood working tools if you don’t have a cnc machine. So, I’ve provided plans in pdf format that you can download and print out.

I put the design for CNC carving together in “Easel,” the software provided free by Inventables and commonly used with Inventables X-Carve CNC machines. Go to the Inventables web site and look under “Projects” if you would like to have free use of this CNC file. Once you have opened the file, make a copy and save it to your own account (free, even if you don’t own an X-Carve). You can then modify the design as you see fit for your use, including the size.
Here’s the link to the Inventables, “Easel” page for this ornament design:

I’ll post more craft show items/projects as I put them together in the near future. I posted a couple of links below to Christmas Pallet Wood Projects I did last year:

You're welcome, Angie. I recently posted files on the Inventables site for a toddler's balance bike. Makes a great gift and it's fast, easy, and inexpensive to build. czcams.com/video/36pJ2Nq83SA/video.html

What CAD software are you using? I just started learning Fusion 360. I’ve found Easel to be a little limited. Nice project!

Hi Chris. I use a variety of Cad programs, but in this instance, I used an old version of ACad (2002) to generate the DXF files and then imported them into Easel Pro. Like you, I'm just exploring and learning Fusion 360 so I can generate full 3D (stl) files in the (hopefully) near future. In fact, I just ordered some ball-nosed CNC milling bits from Amazon for that purpose.

Hello can you explain the lines on the bottom panel on the easel file? It’s really confusing me

Hi Jake! Considering this project took place about 4 years ago and I'm an ancient relic with a memory (or lack thereof) that isn't what it used to be, I'm pretty confused about that as well! My guess (and I am in fact guessing here) is that those lines are probably an aid for locating components. Maybe you might try making one and you can see if they are really necessary or not at all needed. Sorry I can't be of more help.

@@DowneastThunderCreations now that I made the file it looks like you made those lines to cut with a saw afterwards to size
