    It really was a pleasure meeting you guys. Definitely a couple of winners and i'm sure amazing things are coming your way with such great attitudes and willingness to have a go and "just do it" You're both inspirations to all of us contemplating turning the page and starting a new life chapter.

    Hi Guys, Just found your channel and subbed, Will be following in your footsteps from Sydney in Feb and heading to Chiang Mai to live. Been planning this for over 5 years and ready to " Just Do It ". Looking forward to watching your past and future videos. Cheers 🇭🇲 👍

      Awesome, we appreciate the sub & so happy to hear you’re doing the same thing!
      That’s so exciting for you! Hopefully you love Thailand as much as we do!
      We’ve heard Chiang Mai has Burning season between Jan/March where the farmers burn their crop fields getting ready for the next rainy season, you’ll have to let us know how it is as we’re considering going up there towards the end of our lease here!
      Don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or if you’re in Pattaya!
      😊😊🇹🇭

    Interesting video and subject matter guys, enjoyed that. I was in Jomtien night market the other day and was a decent place to visit for food and a couple of drinks. All the best.

      Hey @shaun7630! Thanks so much, glad you enjoyed it!
      There wouldn’t be enough content to do a whole video on how we met hahaha. We worked together a few years, became friends then became a couple 🤣 not very interesting but we’ve been together 4 years… that’s pretty much the gist of it but we’ll bring it up in a video for you soon! 😊

    If you like Jomtien, you should try visiting Thailand some time. It's very close to where you are. Just get out of the farang ghettos and there it is.

    good video. My son goes to University in Chaing Mai. he is 18, but also has the mindset like you guys. I;m 52, and always thought that you had to work hard in life and be secure.. but the new way of thinking is to live life first and so I try to understand this new concept.

    I totally identify with what you're doing. From 21, when I first went to Florida (early 90s), I was hooked on travelling. I grew up quite poor, so never really had much as a kid, so I've never been hung up on material possessions and accompanying lifestyle. I travelled alone almost exclusively, and every time I returned to the UK, would just work and save for my next trip, refusing to get dragged into the "rat race" all my friends were/are in.
    I ended up in Thailand on a "round the world" ticket during the 9/11 attacks, and made it my "home" for the next 12 months, and pretty much settled on it being my sole destination for the last 20+ years. Looking back, I don't regret a single thing about my minimalist living over the last 30 years... I have enough savings for a retirement visa and to move over permenantly whenever I wish, and without trying to sound callous, I'm really just hanging on in the UK until my mum and dad pass away. I'd rather be living here close to them for now, and then will move when I effectively have "nothing left to stay for". I rarely drink, love to just hang at the beach, and don't need extravagances. It's the perfect destination for me.

      That sounds like a pretty nice life you have lived! Definitely something we can get behind!
      Hopefully we have a story in the future, not dissimilar to that.

    Nice video guys, what visas are you on that allow you to live in Thailand as foreigners?

    • @franclyspeaking
      @franclyspeaking  Před 8 měsíci +1

      Hey mate!
      We’re on multi entry tourist visas, you get 60 days on arrival & have to leave then come back to get another 60 days.
      The multi entry has 6 months on it & then you can extend the 60 for an extra 30 days so you get 90 days.
      We’re due to do our last border run in about 4 weeks then we’ll extend the extra 30 days, then leave Thailand and travel around SEA a bit more.
      We’d like to stay in Thailand longer term once we finish travelling 😊

  • @elperro3056
    @elperro3056 Před 8 měsíci +1

    Make money u need 2 k month to make it in Thailand 🤫 so 24000 a year make 30000 dollars quick in USA then go for the rest of year it not rocket science

    • @franclyspeaking
      @franclyspeaking  Před 8 měsíci +1

      Yea that’s a good way to do it! A mate of ours used to do the same. Work 6 months, live off that in Asia for 6 months and do it all again!

  • @steve-o2198
    @steve-o2198 Před 8 měsíci +1

    Can you talk about your visa, how can you stay longer than 60 days legally? Or are you doing border runs every 30/60 days? are you on a METV or SETV?

    • @franclyspeaking
      @franclyspeaking  Před 8 měsíci +1

      Hey! Yeah for sure, so we’re on METV… we’ve done one border run & will need to do another in about 4 weeks. You get 60 days on arrival with METV then can extend for an additional 30 days so 90 days total. We’re going to extend after we do our next border run & then when our visa expires travel around SEA a bit more.
      We would like to stay In Thailand longer term after we travel 😊

      @@franclyspeaking I am in the same boat, I have to leave in about 30 days, going Vietnam for a week and then come back to get another 60 days, hopefully I can stay almost 9 months on the multiple entry visa. It is a real shame Thailand doesn't make it a bit easier for us, we spend a lot of money here so it is better for Thailand if we stay longer. Back during COVID it was so good, you could just buy your 60 day visa without the need to exit the country, I managed to stay almost a year on this visa :)

    • @franclyspeaking
      @franclyspeaking  Před 8 měsíci

      Nice, how did you go with the Vietnam e-visa?
      It’s nice to be able to get out and see new countries but we definitely agree, it would be so nice if they made it a bit easier for us!
      We haven’t decided where to go yet for our next visa run. Considering Cambodia & staying a week or so. 😊

    • @steve-o2198
      @steve-o2198 Před 8 měsíci

      @@franclyspeaking lucky for me I don't need a visa, British citizens get 30 days on arrival, I am only staying a week so no need for a longer visa. I was actually at a visa office today getting my thai driving licence, I asked about the best visa and they recommend the ED visa, it is kind of expensive at 45K but allows you to stay a year. I think for now I will stick with the METV and if I want to stay longer I'll consider the ED visa. I use Thai Farang Visa which is between soi buakhao and 3rd road (near mafia vape), go chat to them, they will give you more details that I can't discuss publicly.

    • @franclyspeaking
      @franclyspeaking  Před 8 měsíci +1

      Lucky! Wish Aussies got the same! Haha.
      Yeah we’re considering ED once we come back after our travels!
      Thanks for the tip about the visa place, very much appreciated, well have to check it out once we’re ready to move on to the ED visa. 😊
