Yeah let me just rip out my plumbing and move it like in Sims build mode
Heyit'smec this won't even work in sims, it's too close 😂
Haha
nzshockmusic moveobjects_on ;)
Damn now it’s wanna play the sims, Also imagine on build mode you had to run plumbing and electrical..ughh wish real life construction was like the sims. I work in construction and it’s a pain when the customer “isn’t feeling that outlet” I want to move the sink a little more to the right/left” and everything is already taped and floated, and painted 😔😔😔 I’m getting sad just thinking about this.
Heyit'smec lmfao
The things I watch past midnight
Bout to be midnight for me, I should stop
12:5999999999999 🥴🤤
They act like rearranging a home is as easy as the sims.
Michelle Lynn The rich don't understand anything about reality so that makes sense.
Michelle Lynn yes it is cause there are computer programs that do it even easier where you only add inches/cm/mm on the items that takes space, so they dont even need to cut out stuff like they did here, think they did this just to show on tv
@@tsfcancerman I'm pretty sure Michelle was talking about the cost of moving plumbing and redoing floors when you move toilets and sinks around
well it is ... you just need to take your time and think about it
ummm any contractors have an estimate on how much it cost to rearrange plumping because I imagine its more expensive than this segment is letting on...
No contractor would even take the job plumbing the toilet like that is against code
Yeah just move the plumbing like your playing “the sims” 🤣🤣🤣
meikoblock If your doing a remodel it’s probably more expensive. But in reality most bathrooms are built with all the plumbing in one wall. So the wall behind the toilet and sink would have all the plumbing and would be easy to build. If there was room for a tub/shower on the other side of the toilet, it would be a very standard bathroom layout in almost every home. The issue with this setup is the code in regards to space. The center of the toilet flange is most places has to be 12” off the wall, then in most places you need a minimum of 21” of clear space in front of the toilet. A standard toilet sits out from the wall a minimum of 24”, so that only leaves 12” of space between the front of the toilet and the wall in this scenario, which is not up to code. If you are building by universally accepted NKBA (National Kitchen Bath Association) standards, you need even more room. This is why architects, engineers, and contractors design and build homes and “Designers” decorate.
GTB_Greedy So, what is the definition of “like that”? With the right side near a wall? Or the space in front of the toilet? What is the building code prohibiting exactly?
Richard van Pukkem -I'd say that a toilet facing a wall in 3ft of space is too small, facing the other way it was facing 5ft of space.
You can’t see the toilet from the door because of the way the door opened, you see the sink instead. I’m pretty sure it’s easier to leave the door shut then to rearrange plumping. If your tall your knees are gonna be right up against the wall
so... replumbing impossibly small powder rooms in apartments/ rented spaces is super easy to do?? nope.
In a rental lol yes that would be a problem but if not, I don't see the prob other than is it worth it as we don't all have their budget. DIY level wise prob want to avoid sewage line but if you're just turning I'd be ok but his toilet repositioning was a bit more than that. If it's just supply, waste water then it's ok. But totally agree it might not be with bothering if it's a tiny place & cost/benefit isn't there then best just add some shelves in good places & maybe change out the sink. Not everyone has the money to be buying funky sink toilets ...it's a tiny bathroom for a reason!
You wouldn’t be remodeling in a rental so........
It seems like he just flipped the toilet it is still connected to the original pipe just turned to face a different wall. I wouldn't move the sink bc that requires plumbing the towel just needs to be placed right next to the sink and the toilet paper within reach. And if you really needed that sliding door I'm sure it would fit where the original is or get a split door
Let's move the toilet, sink, door and all the plumbing included.....ah....NO! This is really bad advice. The amount of money to completely redo this small powder room will not pay off if and when homeowner decides to sell. Much easier to relocate the toilet paper and towel holders. Not very practical advice.
majidi yeah I had to laugh at this “genius” idea...
Sorry to break it to ya, That toilet is not "Euro" design.... That toilet is "Prison" design....
Reminds me of Home
It is not European but Japanese. Do prisons really gave that? Greetings from Germany.
you can get it in Europe too :D but I never saw that.
I was thinking the same thing...
Una Patton They do in the US. They're stainless.
Nice in theory...but moving pipes is not that easy...
Ada It's not difficult either. If you want it done properly it'll cost you.
His design docents work. He said it was a 5x3 bathroom, the average toilet is 30". So you would onky have 6" in front of the toilet. Y hat would way more cramped than the original floor plan
Great minds think alike. I have done so many small bathrooms in the UK with an Ideal size of 7-8 feet x 3 Ft… Toilet to one side, shower to the opposite side and sink in the middle, opposite a pocket / sliding door. This vid is impractical and BS. Even without a shower, what’s the problem with a small sink opposite the toilet in a 5X3 area? When your sat down in such a small space all you see is your head in the mirror.
I remodel kitchens and bathrooms for a living and I had to roll my eyes at moving the plumbing around. The he adds “if you have the budget move the door”. Yah...because you blew your budget moving the plumbing to a space it is not designed for! Hope you didn’t pull a permit!!!! This is why I hate working with some interior designers.
Patrick Letham That is exactly what I thought as soon as he moved the toilet. I was thinking "but where does your knees go, lol?"
You'd need an in-wall toilet tank to gain leg room. A full toilet does not work with 36". $$$
Funny how he says that he doesn’t like to look at the toilet, but the only way to see the toilet from outside is to have the door entirely open, as long as you look straight ahead when you open the door, you won’t see the toilet.
Magnifurcent person Exactly! With the door open a bit, all you see is the sink.
I live in Europe and toilets don’t have sinks on them.
i live in the netherlands and mine does
Me to but I don’t
Indeed. It's Japanese I think.
Edwin Maarleveld
"It's Japanese I think."
Available in Europe and in the US in different configurations.

I’ve never seen one here in the U.K. and I’ve been in literally hundreds of bathrooms, although not all over the country.
They’re very expensive. Most people will just fit a regular toilet and a tiny wash hand basin to the side or above the toilet.
code doesn't allow the toilet to be place that way
Ram-n_dodge That's correct.
F@#K Code!!!
MoanikaLewinsky then no toilet. Hell no air compressor in your shop without inspection everyother year. Welcome to Washington state
F@#K WA State too, and Oregon, too many codes there, being one of the worst, that stupid rule where rain water collection is illegal, just because they know that if they allow it, the city water company would DISAPPEAR causing the city huge losses of "almost" stolen money from the residents of those 2 states, since it rains there like hell, so F@#K the city too!
the way HE placed it or the first one?
I agree with everyone in the comments that moving plumbing is very incredibly expensive. I think it's a great idea for people to move the toilet paper holder. I know a lot of people do have it behind where people normally reach. So that's a great inexpensive way to make a bathroom more useful.
Some building codes in different states also say the door swings into the room, not away from it. Swinging out could be bad incase there is fallen debris or anything during a fire that may block the door
How long do you plan on spending in there exactly that falling debris becomes a concern in a fire?
This is exactly the sort of situation and room that should be exempt from that code.

That redesigned version is exactly how my simple restroom (not bathroom because there’s no shower) looks like because our engineer knows what’s best
In a small bathroom like this, use a toilet that sits at 45 degrees and backs into the corner, and a sink that goes into the other corner.
Vern C Nope that's not to code requirements.
Oh just have it like it started out
Why would you even have a towel rack in a bathroom without a shower or bath?? Why was it planned in the first place? He removed something useless
to dry off your hands?
Mermaid there were two racks, one for a hand towel and body towel. the body (long one) wasn’t needed because there’s no shower, so it shouldn’t have been there in the first place.
Decoration? People like to fold towels in different ways to bring color into their decor.
You know whether I agree with the ideas for my particular room it is nice to see what is new or different. Usually, I enjoy reading the comments to get additional ideas from others who have viewed the video. Some can be quite helpful. However, every video I watch of Cityline it has the most negative and mean commenters chiming in. What ever happened to being able to agree to disagree without tearing the person down with their ideas?
The comments are gold on this video
Wait a minute! But everything he showed already exists in Japan.
Jules A That's because Japan is awful.
Lol it's not awful you just can't appreciate other cultures besides your own. Americans love to waste water lol. Wasting a resource such as water doesn't sound like a smart thing.
The sink/toilet, while super space-saving, seems so awkward to me. You have to lean over the toilet seat to use it. Not a comfortable position, and (considering a house full of boys, if mom doesn't come clean it every single time it's used) it's kind of a gross thought. I'm passing on that one for comfort and cleanliness reasons.
I think the problem is in that tight of a space there's prob things you don't want to think about splashed all over everything anyway. Maybe making people lead over their bowl after will make them more careful to clean up... Although totally appreciate v impossible for kids but my husband might, just might, catch on and improve!
Imagine the gunk that will settle in the tank over time ewww
I always saw the toilet-sink combo in Japanese house/apartment tours (I didn't even know they are sold in my country- Czech) and I am sure there are mainly for saving on water :) i think it is not bad idea to have if you need toilet with sink
This is the standard Japanese toilet
Trust me, it’s not difficult to use haha
They have stainless steel sink toilet combo in most jails I believe
Can you post the rest of this video? I want to know the tile size, color, etc to use in a small powder room bathroom.
The toilet/sink combo design is a Japanese approach. Look into their current home market and you can see all these appliances and more.
Um. The toilet/sink combo is greatly used in Japan.
Twilight One Yeah, stay the hell away from Japan.
I really like the basin over the toilet because we have a very small bathroom and I like to be environmentally friendly where possible. My husband doesn't like it and this is where problems happen....... A couple who appreciate the same house but one who wants to save money and likes environmentally options and they other who hates a tap/toilet combo.
Yeah, if I had that I'd just pull everything out except the toilet drain. I'd add a air purifier instead of a vent then I'd buy the flushing litter box that needs a sewer drain opening to flush only liquid into. Then I'd put a cute catdoor, maybe a cat face cutout, into the big door. Maybe some shelves somewhere above for storing pet things.
There's no way I'm fitting into that tiny bathroom so I might as well make it into a self contained litter box area. I might leave a little sink for handwashing and for added water too.
Oh I'd also make a cute Cat's Only sign.
2:59 installing a pocket door is a real money saver? How?
I saw that too and came to the comments to see if it was mentioned. I think he misspoke, because he prefaced the pocket door discussion by saying "if you have a really big budget..." It was the anomaly that caught my ear.
I heard that too, but I think he meant SPACE saver...I think that he was talking so fast, his mouth got ahead of his brain
If your getting a permit sorry wont work. You need 24" in front of a toilet and I've never seen a 1 foot toilet.
And this is why I hate architects without any knowledge of building/plumbing/electricity...
In our country the office guys work with those guys for 1 year in their 4 year study, but yea... USA....
With the original layout and considering the original door position. The toilet bowl should be on the right on the width. And the sink should be facing in front of the door so the towel rail can be on the extreme Left. Thus the left side now has more space and feels more spacious, and when using the toilet, u are facing that left side area so good idea for a feature wall or art piece.
I like the idea of a toilet and sink combo. Not sure how it will work with the kids, but clever idea.
I like the idea of putting pocket door.
In LA you need 24 inches in front of the toilet so that wont work...
Jose Gutierrez José you're the first one I've seen on here who actually knows that. It's the entire US. Most folks say 21" and they should've remained silent. You can be called knowledgeable. I bet you're skilled too.
Iroquois Pliskin Thank you Iroq! But I only know plumbing code because I've just finished plumbing school. My love is studying shipping container architecture. I'm a drafter, plumber, graphic and web expert. I believe I could pull something off in a 3x5 but it would be tuff. We're talking sliding door and a lav on toilet.
"Genius"? The hell? I think every person that owns The Sims has atleast once build that EXACT bathroom
Gray water system!!! Love it
the toilett is a sacred thinking place.
When you gotta go, you gotta go. It doesn't bother me to look at myself while sitting on the throne; that being said, all I can see in my mirror is the beautiful painting behind me since my mirror is set higher than eye level. Also, if you're prone to getting sick, you may want to rethink your towel bar. I have a wall mount paper towel dispenser. Sharing or reusing your own cloth towel is unsanitary because when damp towels linger in the bathroom germs spread. As far as the environment goes, I use paper towels made from recycled paper then it goes into the compost.
Where would the light switch go if you use a pocket door ? can't put it next to the sink.
you are seated in the best seat in the house {the toilet} (from a birthday card years ago)
Great now I can bash my head into the wall while on the john and bash a hole in the wall behind me with my elbows while washing my hands, perfect thanks for fixing something that wasn't broken.
I highly appreciated
Is this what you call a powder room in America? In Australia its called a toilet. Sink optional.
Fuzzymoon Beam powder my ass 😂
Fuzzymoon Beam Only in prison. The rich here are heavily reinforcing this nonsense.
I've always called that style of bathroom a 'guest bathroom'.
Toilet and sink, no tub or shower stall.
I’ve got a downstairs toilet with the sink built into it also you could use a saniflow box so there no massive plumbing bill UK that is
I have 2 mirrors in front of my toilette. I enjoy watching myself during the super bowl. Btw, my sink is to my left. Also, prison toilet
There is a sink that drains into the toilet basin that can reduce space further! Might be something to consider.
Not only did he move the the plumbing so now I have to hire a plumber now I gotta move the door now I have to hire a construction crew also the sink so that's more Plumbing work oh yeah I need a permit to do all of this because of moving the sewage line definitely not a project for someone with low budget
esmokebaby And remember... It's just so you don't see the toilet! Totally worth all the costs
Yeah, the rich don't know a damn thing about the real world. It's just their Aldous Huxley fantasy.
I think if you’re designing from scratch it would be best that’s why he suggested mapping it out on the floor like that
Don't talk about plumbing design if you're not a plumber. Nonsense.
All looks good on paper. Until you actually put the stuff in place. As for my tiny full bathroom (tub/shower), toilet, sink .
Fits comfortable in a 5' x 6.5'. that leaves basically a 4x4 floor space area. Sink is 18"wide by 16" deep. Standard 30" toilet.....18" from wall to sink to place it in (tank width).
Wall next to toilet is my outdoor storage/wet room that is 12"deep by 4' long. Door is a barn style door on the outside of the bathroom. Made from a aluminum screen door (saves weight).
Not bad for a tiny floating house.
Only on here to find out where I can find that small sink with the paper roll on the side.
The labor to frame in a pocket door on a non load bearing wall is about $600-$700, this is just for the install, you'll still need a dry waller and painter. Figure $3k if you're lucky just to get rid of a swinging door.
he said if the door is left open you're looking at the toilet...wrong...with the direction the door swings, you'd be looking at the *sink* if the door was left ajar (unless it was pushed back completely open, like door-against-the-wall
No links to products or webpage. Amateurs...
Big mistake, genius.
Why would you move the toilet from where it was??
Move the vanity to the wall and you have enough space for everything and you will not be facing the mirror, with ample space on the left for toilet paper. Place towel holder higher up.
Why leave the toilet where it was?
Because a minimum space of 21 inches must be planned in front of the toilet, but it's even better if you leave 30 inches.
There is no way you will have that with the toilet moved.
Try getting up and pulling pants from a toilet that is located only 20 inches from the wall and you will be banging your head on drywall!
This man deserves an award!!
I'm not so sure about the toilet that refills itself from a sink. Any excess water is just drained off from a tank already filled. So unless the person knows they need to wash their hands soon after flushing, but only after the tank has emptied and begins refilling, but also before it fully refils and shuts off, it is not going to work fully as intended. Might work if the tank has a very slow refil cycle.
If they don’t want to see the loo from the open door. They could hang it on the left. They are also adding cost of Reno by moving plumbing. Not great for those on a tiny budget!
In the original setup there seem to be two towel bars (big + small). Who needs big towels in a powder room? Aren't hand towels enough? Removing the big bar would free up wall space to hang the toilet roll in a more accessible place. Also there are bars that you can hang multiple towels from. Extra toilet paper could be stored in a small mirrored cabinet over the sink. And why is the original sink so enormous? Do building codes require a full sized sink in a powder room? And how is that weird toilet/sink combo thing European? That is something I'd expect in a mobile home, not a house. The only really useful idea I see in this video is installing a sliding door.
"if you have a *really* big budget"
Move
No wasted water because when you wash your hands that water goes into the... Already full tank? What a stupid idea.
Jordan Honeycutt actually it overfills the tank, so next flush only uses part of the stored water and therefore uses less fresh water to refill. Don't you think the designers would have considered your point?
When you flush a standard toilet the water drains from the tank, which drops a float valve and turns on water until you refill the tank. With this type of toilet, instead of the valve filling the tank directly, it goes through the upper sink faucet first so that you can wash your hands with the water before it drains down into the tank to be used for flushing next time. It just means that when you flush, be ready to start washing your hands because when the tank fills, the water stops. Edit: You're basically flushing the toilet with waste water from washing your hands last time you used the toilet. Saves space and water.
Very nice
What’s the style of the studio?? Urban chic?
1:10 "Before you move on, lets stretch this segment for time. Let me act out something no one needs to see to comprehend"
They missed where the air vent is located. Its super easy to move paper around. You have to work around that vent! Just saying.
Jacklyn Monroe in my case a base board. But I would love a pocket door!
Vent is in the ceiling or Exhaust fan
Extremist air vent is where the heat/air conditioner air comes out of which is on the floor. Exhast fan is on ceiling.
When i was in japan the toilet sink thing was pretty standard. It confused me though so i would go and wash my hands elsewhere haha
How about the residential code requirements of 21 inches in front of toilet? When you flip the toilet you have less than 10 inch clearance.
Material and labour for this remodel ( ripping out old stuff, entire floor to joist, rearranging plumbing (IF Possible) You'd be looking at an easy $10,000 CAD
You can't do this in CAlifornia, you need 24" of clearance for toilet min. Plus the 27"-30" toilet average, that's more than 36" there...
I don't even know why I'm watching this I have homework to do 😂😂
I had a doubt...here we're re-using the water from sink to the flush tank..but..wat abt the waste foam in that water...is there any problem with that..?
rohit roy no, it just goes down the toilet.
I love the toilet 🚽
Its called a basin. A sink is in the kitchen
I agree about the toilets, it makes me cringe to see it, especially if it's near a kitchen.
quarantine did this to me
Can we just look at the tiny bathroom compared to the room that they’re in? I’m not hating!
One of the pediatrician offices i went to as a child had a bathroom like that. Every time you had to give a urine sample for something your knees would be under the sink it was bizarre
Couldn't get over the idea that she needs a makover for her clothing specially that heels
Toilet doesn't meet code in that direction, requires 24" clearance in front
Hmmm after doing a full blown reno on my house I can say rearranging a bathroom like that isn't that cheap lol
Leg room > looking at yourself shitting in the mirror in my opinion.
I think it’s pointless to hide the toilet. What do you expect to see in a small bathroom? A piano? The toilet is basically half of what you need to do in there.
Sure I can do this if I had an endless money tree, and the plumbing can be moved. This is the problem with eccentric designers. Everything looks good on paper, or in this idiots case a taped floor. FAIL!
poofy nunya but if you were remodeling wouldn’t you have budgeted to do things the remodeling entail, such as moving plumbing, tearing down walls, etc.
redblkgirl99 I hi
and if you had the money you could make your bathroom bigger
redblkgirl99 No. If you're stuck in a situation where tolerating this prison lavatory is required, then chances are you're just stuck with it outright. If you can afford to remodel a bathroom, you would have a much much larger bathroom. Keep in mind no trustable and skilled contractor accepts less than $25k for the remodel. A minimum of 75% of the cost is labor.
The sink on toilet is not from eu but its a style and made by japan.
wer is the shower room?
Pocket doors genius.
How have I ended up watching this....
I love your jumper. Where did you get the jumper from?
It is very easy to do with paper not easy in the real world
Dude can somebody explain to me the measurements of the toilet ?
The sink toilet is already there in Japan.
0:52 Easy: install an automatic door closer.
He's giving some really bad advice. The most widely used building code in the U.S. is the IRC. It requires 21" clear in front of a toilet. Some manufacturer out there probably makes a wall hung toilet with the tank inside the wall and a 15" bowl. If you can get one, I'm sure it'll cost at least a thousand bucks. If you can't get one, you can forget getting a building permit to do what he is suggesting. But think about it on your own. He says he doesn't want to look at the vanity and a mirror while he's on the toilet. That's fine, but who wants to have a wall right in front of them? I can tell you with certainty that he has not actually used a toilet arranged the way he is advising because nobody would tell anyone to do it that way if they had. You will agree with me if you do this, place a dining chair sideways in a 36 inch wide hall. Now walk between the wall and the front of the chair and try to sit down. Did you hit your head against the wall? Did you feel a twinge in your knees as you sat down? Then try getting up, and don't hit your head! Now try wiping your rear end. If you install a toilet his way, you will end up sitting on it diagonally. You will be much happier with the toilet facing the way it was in the beginning. You will understand why they are located as they are, and why building codes demand that they be that way. If you have a small powder room that's set up in the traditional manner and you feel cramped, you can replace the standard sized vanity with one that takes up less space. And if you don't like looking in a mirror while you are on the toilet, you can get rid of the mirror altogether. But why do that when there are dozens of ways to hide a mirror. You can put a decorative curtain, or window blind in front of the mirror. You can mount the mirror on a hinge so it can be turned to face a side wall, and it can be flipped back again for use as a mirror. And the things I'm telling you are cheaper than his bad advice.
I’m at 4:51 and just realized...wait, wtf am I watching?!? Lol
i’m just gonna use this information for the sims lol
If your a man 5' 10" plus there is no way that you could use that toilet without your knees being in the hallway. I live in the UK where that layout would be unthinkable
JUMPSUUUIITTT 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
Instead of completely replacing where the door is, seen as you’re moving everything around on the inside, why not just put the toilet on the opposite side?
Im 5’10” that way he put that toilet in a 3 foot space. I would had to sit with my legs spread and still my knees would be touching the wall in front. I don’t think that would work.
No no no no. The brush needs to dry on the floor. You’ve given yourself a septic pool of water to rinse out - one that children and pets can get into - and (not to be overlooked) another thing to CLEAN!
Cheapest option.
Remove light bulb.
You're welcome.
