    "Persona 5 is a 2016 role-playing video game developed by P-Studio and published by Atlus. The game is the sixth installment in the Persona series, itself a part of the larger Megami Tensei franchise. It was released for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 in Japan in September 2016 and worldwide in April 2017. It was published by Atlus in Japan and North America, and by Deep Silver in PAL territories. An enhanced version featuring new content, Persona 5 Royal, was released for PlayStation 4 in Japan in October 2019 and worldwide in March 2020. It was published by Atlus in Japan and worldwide by its parent company Sega. Persona 5 Royal was later released for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S in October 2022.
    Taking place in modern-day Tokyo, the story follows a high school student known by the codename Joker who transfers to a new school after he is falsely accused of assault and put on probation. Over the course of a school year, he and other students awaken to a special power, becoming a group of secret vigilantes known as the Phantom Thieves of Hearts. They explore the Metaverse, a supernatural realm born from humanity's subconscious desires, to steal malevolent intent from the hearts of adults and change their hearts. As with previous games in the series, the party battles enemies known as Shadows using physical manifestations of their psyche known as Personas. The game incorporates role-playing and dungeon crawling elements alongside social simulation scenarios."

    Crazy, I was in coma and almost died at the end of last year. When I got home after months in the hospital, I recieved Persona 3 Reload in the mail. The themes of this game really spoke to me as I was coming to terms with what happened. These games are absolutely incredible.

    I love how this series finds people who are in need of something to help weather the struggles in their life and gives them a safe place to tackle the struggle of life in microcosm. Even putting aside the plot, the way that the calendar system forced me to use my time wisely caused me to think about my real life. When coupled with a plot that is unusually thoughtful and lyrical for JRPGs… I’m so grateful we have a JRPG series that’s about the universal difficulty of living a worthwhile life.
    Persona 3 FES was that game for me, freshman year of college, almost ten years ago now. A video game cannot cure my depression but it can remind me that I’m not alone, and that the summit becomes more feasible a goal to reach when you have loved ones with you for the journey.

    • @YandereGogeta
      @YandereGogeta  Před dnem

      That's why I love just about everything about Persona. The mythology and reasoning behind the arcana and Persona choices, the time management and how it impacts the bonds you do or don't make, and more. It's all absolutely amazing, and I don't think for me personally, as well as many other people, any other series will be able to top the kinds of things this series has done in that regard.
      You're definitely right about a game not being able to cure depression, but it can certainly help, and that's all you can really ask for. I'm glad P3FES was able to help you in a positive way! I'm wishing the best going forward for you!

    Really glad you were able to keep going and look towards the future with hope after everything you went through. I feel like initially playing Persona 4 also really made me think about who I actually was at the time and what I wanted to do. And I'm happy to hear P5R had a similar effect on you! Honestly, I'm just glad that Persona is a series that can have such a big impact on people's perception on life. Thanks for opening up, and keep doing you!

      Thank you for the support and kindness! Despite how much Persona 5 Royal changed my life in 2020, I still say Persona 4 is my favorite somehow. That game is truly special and it played a big role in my growth as well, but Royal is where it all started for me 100%. I'm glad to hear P4 was able to help you like that as well! Persona as a series really does speak to people on an emotional, and well, Personal level, so it makes sense that so many people have such a fondness for it. Didn't mean to ramble on but thank you again!

    Your story is so personal and beautiful, it almost made me cry, really. I can somehow relate to your story, because Persona 5 Royal had a huge impact on me as well.
    It was not so long ago, only one year ago when I moved to another country looking for a job (didn't find it eventually and returned home, but it's not story about it). I was lonely. Like very very lonely. I lived in my cousin's house for a month, then I rented a room. I was the only one locator in this house for most of the time. I didn't know anyone, I didn't know the language. I couldn't find job either. So I was sleeping most of the time and... yeah it is the moment the persona 5 comes in. I started playing it some weeks before moving abroad. In the beginning it was like every other game. But the moment when I moved abroad and felt the loneliness, not knowing anyone... I felt like Joker in the beginning of the game.
    And having someone to relate in Persona made this game very impactful for me. I felt like Phantom Thief. I loved the characters. I felt like everyone of them is my real friend. And the third semester hit me the most as well.
    One part of me loved the idea of Maruki's perfect world. Second part of me hated it and found it creepy. It was the moment when I realized how pain is important for us and world without pain would be very dystopian. It was first time in my life when I was happy that life isn't perfect and I tried to accept my problems.
    I look back at this time as very painful and I wouldn't like to go through this again. But I know that without Persona 5 Royal (and Strikers as well) it would be way harder for me to go through this. I'm grateful to this game. I call it my favourite media of all time because no other media had such an impact on me in such perfect moment.
    Now I'm good and I'm playing Persona 3 Reload. Wouldn't call it as good as Persona 5 but it's great anyway. I'm going to play Persona 4 after P3, then Persona Qs, so I think I will become all Persona franchise fan :D

    This was a great video, like you said persona royal is a masterpiece it really stays with you after you beat the game, maruki really wasn't a villain, he was a man who was trying to help everyone so nobody else felt the pain and hardship of the world like he did, and how his palace theme sounds like a mix sadness and isolation, but he continues on, and my personal favorite part of the last dungeon was the two songs that plays when you enter on the final day I believe and throw away your masks, both songs are great and are pact with so much meaning, I believe is literally the phantom thieves refusal of a world will they dont grow or experience hardship, since by those experiences we learn and develop as people, and how they believe in themselves and the future, but maruki songs is just so meaningful, it's him trying to convince us to see his point of view, it's really him saving please stop I don't want to fight you and trust me, heck during the whole fight he never stops trying to get us to stop this fight and let him help us, persona 6 got its work cut out to top maruki, and even if it can't persona 6 is still going to be good, since persona games always improve with each new installment.

    • @YandereGogeta
      @YandereGogeta  Před dnem +1

      Thank you for the support! Maruki is easily the best antagonist in the Persona series for all the reasons you mentioned. Persona 6 will need to pull some voodoo work to be able to top what they did for the 3rd semester, but I am extremely interested to see what they come up with. Like you said Persona games always improve in one way or another from game to game, so regardless it'll probably be amazing.

    Honestly some pieces of media are such so monumentally important to me specifically Because they came into my life exactly when I need them to. When I was 14 that pieces of media was Steven Universe and in 2020 it happened when I watched a let's play of persona 5 for the first time. It was mid 2020 by the time I got to Futaba's palace which as you can imagine made me relate to her isolation even more than I would have otherwise, even though the reasons behind it were different. Then I got to the scene where Joker finds her having a breakdown in the store because a cop asked her where her parents where because he thought she was a child and I understood that immensely because I also got mistaken as a child a lot and didn't know how to talk to people. You could have replaced Futaba with a high school version of me and Joker with my mom and the scene would have played almost exactly the same. That was the scene that fully cemented my love for the series.
    After I finished p5r I immediately went back to p4g and p3fes.The importance of bonds in all 3 games was also huge for me, especially during the pandemic, but even before then I was not the best at keeping friends (autism and anxiety combined with a lack of energy will do that) and while video games can't replace making those connections with real life people it still made me feel a bit less alone. It also made me appreciated the connections I did have a little bit more. I think that's why these games have been one of my longer lasting special interests. I love them a lot.

    • @YandereGogeta
      @YandereGogeta  Před dnem +1

      Thank you for sharing your story! If there's any character I can relate to from Persona 5 in a similar light as you with Futaba, I'd say it's Ryuji. As I mentioned I got in trouble a lot at school, and while I wasn't necessarily alone or outcasted, I just felt like I didn't belong. Seeing Ryuji grow and evolve throughout the game was very inspirational to me, and he's one of my favorite characters in the entire series.
      I'm glad these games have been able to impact you in such a positive light, as they did for me as well. It's quite remarkable how important these games are to so many people. I'm wishing the best for you going forward!

      Losing weight is a tough thing to do for sure. Best piece of advice I can give is to try and track what you eat, either with an app like MyFitnessPal or just mentally taking note of the kinds of foods you consume. Next time you get a checkup at a doctor you can ask them for some advice as well.
      As for the bullying thing, it's easier said than done, but just try not to let it get to you too much. It's a cliche thing to say, but most bullies don't have much going for them in life and get enjoyment out of seeing others down. Also, there's no problem in getting help from your friends. That's what friends are for. Just being a good friend and having good times with them makes you valuable to them, so you're definitely no nothing to anyone.
