- Mitsuru Kirijo of the Empress arcana is a character that on the surface is fairly simple, but if you decide to look further you can find something much greater. Her writing is much more well thought out than it might seem at a glance, and this video strives to paint Mitsuru's character in an easy to understand and fun way to prove this point.

"Persona 3 Reload is a 2024 role-playing video game developed and published by Atlus. Reload is a remake of Persona 3 (2006), the fourth main installment of the Persona series, itself a part of the larger Megami Tensei franchise. As with the original game, the protagonist is a high school student returning to his home city a decade after his parents were killed in a fatal car crash. Mitsuru has a lot of depth that many people don't tend to really notice or try and look at whenever she's around, often being seen as the "preppy girl" in the party, but honestly she's so much more: here Arcana as the Empress isn't just symbolic of someone of a higher life in society, but of someone who truly his motherly and caring for those she calls her friends
I agree for sure. A lot of people tend to take Mitsuru’s actions and character at face value and only look at the surface, but if you do put in a tiny bit of effort to look deeper you can see she’s really not different from anyone else bar her status.
A bunch of people see her just as this "dommy mommy" totally ignoring how much of a softie she actually is
One thing to consider is that the Empress characters are all very reactionary. Mitsuru, Margaret, and Haru all need other characters to push them or else they won't do anything. You want to see their characters in full, you have to actively seek it out. People don't like putting in the work, what else is new?
The fact her VA tweeted "happy Mother's Day to everyone who calls me mommy" is a level of self awareness I WISH I could have. Plus the whole "Do you *want* to be punished?" line to Junpei you can get in Tartarus. Atlus KNEW what the fandom has done to her-
Have you considered making a video about Fuuka? I think she's an underrated character with some hidden depths, particularly her penchant for (and skill with) technology while feeling self-concious about having interests that "aren't for girls"; and just the fact that her meek, eager-to-please personality is more a response to trauma than some embodiment of the ideal Japanese woman.
I absolutely plan on doing one for Fuuka. She's actually my personal favorite girl in S.E.E.S. so I'd love to give her character the spotlight it deserves.

Adding onto this the whole vibe of the mission being “holy shit did she kill herself?” To “fuck it we’re gonna get separated and lost in hell if it means chance at rescuing her” felt so dope
Honestly, one of the things I wished they changed in Reload was the 10/4 operation. Shinji’s death scene in Reload is almost 1:1 to the movie so I wished they changed around the timing of when Akihiko and Mitsuru realized what was going on. It would’ve the raised the stakes and increased tension as we want to prevent what’s going to happen. I agree with everything you said on how with the linked episodes, I felt like Mitsuru should’ve been more aware and cautious of the fact that Shinji and Ken joined around the same time and their prior history. There’s actually a few things I would’ve liked them to have pulled from the movie to complete the experience.
Nice to see I’m not alone on how I feel about 10/4. I think if they had just taken the part from the movie where they know what’s happening but fail to get to them in time, it would have fixed that entire scene.

Love her. How she foils with Yukari throughout the story, and they both grow both as individuals and friends and just how integral it is to the game's narrative is amazing.
They just don't really do that anymore.
The two of them bounce off of each other very well and embody the spirit of what the game is going for great

Something i forgot to bring up on Junpei's video. I'm kinda upset that they didn't bring some of the stuff of his P3P Social Link to Reload, mainly his family issues...
& The problem is that P3P is the only game where we get to learn this stuff, on top of some other things for both Akihiko & Shinjiro that you can only learn by playing as Minako instead of Makoto
I agree for sure. If they weren’t gonna bring femc back I would’ve liked to have seen the things exclusive to that route added to the male route. Maybe not the social links since that would make the time management impossible, but at least the plot points like Junpei’s family stuff and etc.
One point I want to add that done better in Reload is her closeness with Yukari. Only after the scene in Kyoto, they started to call each other by first name until the end. Their scene at Yukari's room also foreshadowing what will happen with their relationship later. These will be catalysts of Mitsuru's action throughout The Anwer later.
Yeah the foreshadowing to The Answer throughout the game is very good. I hope the remake of The Answer does the narrative justice!
@@YandereGogeta I just hope they don't change much of the narrative, even it may lead to some players would misunderstand or even hate some characters decision, well, mainly will be Yukari and Mitsuru. Some might even say The Answer butchers character development on The Journey. I just think what they did in the original was already perfect. That Yukari's breakdown scene was golden as her characteristic. Same goes with Mitsuru.

In my opinioj, Mitsueu would have been a great fit for the wild card ability considering her story. Her family was mostly responsible for the dark hour, she was the first to naturally awaken to a persona in p3, she bears the sins of her family's mistake risking her life, she recruited everyone and waw the leader for the old s.e.e.s team.
I wish they make a seperate short game for her like they did with aigis with "Aigis: The First Mission" where she is the lead character and her recruiting akihiko and shinjiro and fighting the shadows in the dark hour (i know we see her recruit akihiko in the answer) uptil the point of meeting the protagonist of p3.
That could’ve been a neat spin off game or short dlc story or whatever. I do think the back story between Aki, Mitsuru, and Shinji is really interested, so seeing more of that is always welcome

Mitsuru is a super solid character and while she's bottom 3 in my personal SEES ranking I do see why she could be someone's favorite. Never really thought much about what you said until now but yeah it is kind of awkard how it is in the game. Especially because they head back to the dorm just to head back out. Also I really love YukaMitsu (ship between Yukari and Mitsuru.) as they're cute and are really great friends. Their relationship is my favorite part about both characters. I actually really love what they did to Mitsuru's character in the Arena games (Reason why I roll my eyes when people say that P5S is the only game where characters get expanded upon.) as she becomes a very reliable leader in those games. Also her seeing more examples of the amoral stuff the Kirijo group did was also pretty cool. I don't like fighting shadow mitsuru though. Great video as usual.
I think Yukari and Mitsuru is a pretty cute ship as well. One of the better ones in Persona imo. I agree with what you said about the Arena game as well. The first Arena game in particular is actually amazing as far as giving the characters further development goes. I didn't like the overall narrative of Ultimax as much, but it was decent as well. Got a suggestion for a character in the future to analyze: Yu Narukami from Persona 4. Much like Makoto in P3, the anime carries a lot of character development for him.
I for sure plan on doing an analysis for Narukami and the rest of the Investigation Team at some point.
