- Pokemon Sword and Shield are the new generation of the Pokemon series, and as always there are a ton of brand new Pokemon that are available to collect. But what does it take to get them all? Today we're going to find out how easily you can catch every Pokemon in Pokemon Sword and Shield! Don’t get me wrong, it’s a useful video, but it’s only really useful for getting part of the Dex, and implies you can just log the others once Pokemon Home comes out.

Minor point of correction: the reason Piers doesn't Dynamax his pokemon isn't because he doesn't believe in the idea, it's because he just can't actually perform it. Spikemuth doesn't have a Power Spot like the other Gyms in Galar, so his Pokemon literally can't use the energy to Dynamax at all, unlike the other leaders.
This is why Spikemuth is such a shanty town, unlike other cities in Galar which are more like bustling metropolis' in comparrison.
He is my favorite leader with how down to earth he is.

You're both half right. He doesn't dynamax because you can't dynamax in Spikemuth, but he also willingly chooses not to dynamax in areas where he can (gym leader tournament in Wyndon stadium) to prove that you don't need dynamaxing to win, which is I think what John meant.
...his philosophy is addicting...replayed the story and beat the campaign without dynamaxing and had even more fun...

Also, I don't understand why people are asking why he only has 81 Pokémon when he has only been catching new Pokémon of the generation in all of his previous Catch them alls.
Well, to be fair to those who aren't long-timers, the new wouldn't know. And his title and his verbage doesn't lead you to believe that he only intends to catch the new ones.
I tried to lose against Hop and I couldn't. I'm almost certain it's impossible.
Its literally impossible to lose to Hop. Maybe like if you intentionally wanted to lose to him on your first 2 battles then yeah, but after that its mandatory to defeat him.
The postgame battle would be the easiest to lose to him

Piers isn't the leader of Team Yell, the grunts before him say they formed Team Yell without his consent to sabotage gym challengers. He most likely more or less becomes the leader after the gym battle though.

He wouldnt have failed. He doesn't play this straight. It's play time that counts. He could turn it on, check, then turn it off. It doesn't save him in-game time, only rl time, so it doesn't actually mess with the challenge

He coulda done it the long way by turning on and off the switch waiting for the perfect weather, but instead he breaks the rules he set for himself and uses an exploit. Wow, I had no idea that the Ice type gym was a Shield exclusive! That's a really nice touch, all the more reason to get Shield.
Kabu's gym went so fast for me, since I went to the trader by the gym in the wild area and got quick balls. I won everything in the first round by throwing a quick ball

There's a static impidimp encounter at the beginning of those woods if you just press A on the ones you see just out of bounds on the right.
The Wild Area Duraludon is way more consistent/easy to get (since it's a strong overworld spawn that's almost always there); if you don't find the 1% encounter on your first pass through on that snowy route, it's not worth wasting time hunting for it.
30:50 With the Leek and Focus Energy, Farfetch'd is Guaranteed to land critical hits. The Leek alone makes it a coin flip, so teaching it any special move / very weak physical move and going up against something weak is probably the best bet

Thanks to your videos on the Professor Oak Challenge, I've decided to attempt it with the Gen 8 games. Doing it with Sword version and currently contemplating how much Wild Area mons I'll have to catch before I even fight Milo XD.
The capture level restriction kinda helps in limiting what I can feasibly catch at any given time during the story and the only outliers are the Max Raid Battles that can spawn mid-late game mons (ex catching raid Noibat and having to evolve it in the high 40s).
Regardless, I'm actually enjoying playing the game this way!

I think 16 hours is longer than any other games story if you think about it...usually Pokémon games are around 10 hours unless you take your time and talk to every npc and do every battle..

@@narutouzumakijoshua SwSh is the shortest story, it's been compared to other averages. Pokemon games average around 30 hours, not 10. The only one with an average time to complete the main story _lower_ than 30 is Red/Blue, at 26.

Fun tip: The Wild Lands will have the same weather throughout the whole map on the first of every month.

Your comment about Nessa's gym reminds me of when I beat it by weakening her Arrokuda, using my Corvisquire's Whirlwind because I was in a pinch, and then killing her Drednaw. She then sent out her "last" Pokemon (the half-dead Arrokuda) and she actually gave the whole spiel about "alright this is it, my ace pokemon, etc." I thought that was kinda funny

Pokemon games since Gen 6 was released:

@#1 ratbag Not really. I've been playing pokemon since gen 1 got released, and most prominently still play Gens 2 and 3 be it Crystal Bingos or Emerald and Fire Red randomizers and nuzlockes.
Up until Gen 3, at most you had 1 or 2 tasks that required you to talk to someone before progressing. And the more you play those 3 gens, the more you will notice that you don't have any annoying NPCs constantly holding your hand through cutscenes and game mechanics you already know from other games - other than the "catching pokemon tutorial NPC".
Starting with Pokemon Black/White it became very stupid how the games tell you "things." But from X and Y, the handholding became obnoxious. The obscene amount of cutscenes, the useless and often patronizing information and NPCs. It only got worse with time. SwSh is a really neat game, but the ridiculous amount of unskippable cutscenes, the amount of time you spend seeing Hop, the number of times you get NPCs - including Hop - telling you about "type effectiveness" it's just off-putting. None of this happened in the first 3 generations.
Finally, with 120 hours in the game, I’ve beaten Shield and can watch this video 😍

Yea, tbh I was kind of looking forward to him doing all 400. I don't really care if he's just going to be catching the new ones. I think the 400 could still be possible in 24 hours if you're not going for a living dex. My main issue with doing it myself is just getting the version exclusives, but with 2 games it should be easy.

I would look up to see where the "Strong" static encounters are and under what conditions they are available. I know Duraludon (So you dont have to deal with the low Overworld Encounter rate) and Coalossal (Carkol was evolved post game) are just walking around the Wild Area in some conditions. This should easily cut down on leveling and encountering time on some Pokemon.
I'm looking forward to the Professor Oak challenge for these games, but I also feel really, *really* bad for you for when you do it. That's gotta be rough with the Wild Area.

Yamask's evolution into Runerigus is actually really thematic. Galarian Yamask is based off of Norse Runestones that served as burial markers, detailing the exploits of the warriors who died there. Many had "curses" on them, essentially cursing you if you damaged or destroyed them. Thus when Yamask (the norse rune stone) is damaged, it evolves into Runerigus. Not sure the purpose of the bridge however.
i tried to speed-run this game and it took me just over 24 hours.
Yeah, you have to fight most trainers or else you get wrecked by the next big battle.

I finished mainstory and the postgame in 15 hours
That's longer than any other pokemon game if you're skipping side content, which is pretty obvious you've done here if you beat it in 15 hours.
With a pretty casual playstyle, I'd say most pokemon games occupy me for around 20 hours. With that same playstyle, this one took me 50 to beat. It's not harder, but the Wild Area raids occupied me for a good 15-ish hours and were fun to play around with. Even ignoring wild area the game still took me like 35 casually hours though
@@x54xHantamachine cause you're slow as molasses. I talked to every NPC and filled out my Pokedex everytime I saw something I didn't have and the entire game only took me 9 hours to beat. With the battle tower in post game only taking another hour and a half or so. This game has incredibly shallow pacing that only looks longer on the surface due to the Wild Area, but going route to route its incredibly small. Most towns/cities only have 2 or 3 buildings you can enter, most of the routes are super short with maybe 3 trainers on them

@@Mr.Japlay the story and postgame which is what "beating the game" means. I'm near 300 in Pokedex completion but it doesnt really matter for me considering I have a whole living national dex sitting in Pokemon Bank
Tim Etters 9 seems a bit long especially for everything you claim to have done. The reason I finished it in 15 hours was I spent about 3 hours in the wild area before the first gym and therefore had massively overleveled Pokémon the rest of the game. I only finished with 56 in my Pokédex, so 300 in 6 hours less seems a bit excessive
