- Cops responding to the Uvalde, Texas, school shooting ran away from gunshots while 19 children and two teachers were left to die in their classrooms, according to new footage of the horrifying attack published Tuesday.
The disturbing video, first obtained by the Austin American-Statesman, shows how police officers dillydallied in the hallway of Robb Elementary School instead of charging toward 18-year-old gunman Salvador Ramos as he systematically slaughtered 21 people on May 24.
The 77-minute clip shows officers rushing into the school just minutes after 18-year-old Ramos began his rampage, but rather than confront him, they stopped and lingered - with one cop in a helmet and vest even seen using a wall-mounted hand sanitizer and checking his phone.

Believe me, it’s very easy. I sometimes would be late to my high school during the time this happened and would walk up to my class and open the door with no problem. They just think it can happen elsewhere but never to them.

I completely disagree with editing out the sound of children screaming. As it is, it just looks like one of hundreds of video games people play in which the horror that accompanies deadly violence is kept from disturbing us too much.
We SHOULD BE very disturbed. We SHOULD feel our stomachs twist in knots, the screams SHOULD haunt our dreams, so that we stay motivated to DO something about it.
How DID they edit out screams and keep gun fire and cops talking audio from one track security camera.
The families have been thru enough without having the video evidence make it worse for them. This is going to be high profile for a long time, and it's going to be a long time before the families have the time to properly grieve without reminders in every form of media all around them. Try to imagine their situation.
Your comment is absolutely infuriating. It's for respect for the family's & friends of the children. Try to think hard about that. How torn and traumatised they are and other children. They don't want to hear that about their day and it's playing out. Also protection of vulnerable people seeing/hearing this video. Most people are at despair about gun laws and control. As someone who is familiar with and works in the forensics (psychology) field, it is actually better for the video to remove these sounds. The sound of their own children screaming & crying (some crying for their mommy or 'help', are almost assuredly going to negatively impact the mental health of the already devastated & suffering parents/families. Hearing childrens' screams while dying is something no one, especially not a parent, should ever have to hear!!
Removing the screaming just nullifies and further desensitises us to the seriousness of school shootings.

It was mostly over by the time the majority of them responded. The first 4-6 officers that responded were fired upon. And then the situation was treated as hostage. So imagine yourself showing up 5-10 after the initial shooting and taking it upon yourself to make the decision to engage the shooter possibly putting more lives in danger (because no one knew the situation inside the room) and we dont even know if the officers inside were ordered to stand down and wait for 1. negotiator or 2. Swat to arrive. Both were mentioned and over heard on the full video

All armed men should have taken down the shooter within the first five to ten minutes once they entered the building. They should have been running towards the shooter all at once, from inside the building and outside visually observing the shooter through the windows and taking a shot at him immediately! The shooter was way outnumbered!

I like how u left out that the first men to arrive approached the classroom and were fired on. I guess from all of your experience and knowledge you would have withstood that gun fire and proceeded into the room? That is the fault of the school boards who won't have anyone carrying legally who was trained to handle such a situation. There are 42 States with legal carry. 8 million women and 11 million men carry legally in those States. Many schools and houses of worship in those States have legally armed and trained private people carrying legally.

This is why schools need a better protection system. While school is going on I believe EVERY door that leads to the outside should be locked from the outside and only opened with a keycard or keyfob. The police were very cowardly in this situation as well. These are children. Schools need better security.

Those kids never stood a chance in terms of survival. The thing about mass murderers and terrorists is that they've nothing to lose. That's sort of headspace makes them especially blood thirsty hence the fear from law enforcement.

The school was equipped with doors that were supposed to automatically lock. The gunman either had a key or the locks malfunctioned.
The school also had a school resource officer there...who tried to arrest the wrong person. Maybe go after the school officer for being incompetent or the manufacturer of the locks for failing on its design.
@@brettbrockman776 if you watch the video, the classroom he entered was open and he fired into it before walking in. Now im assuming those teachers thought the outside door was locked but evidently it wasnt. Schools aren't always perfectly secure, some have low budgets, no maintenance staff and broken things around campus. It happens

Here's what I can't understand. When there's a gunman inside a school, why do teachers always tell the kids to hide in their classrooms? If I were a teacher, I'd be telling the kids, _"Get out of the building! Run outside now!"_
That is a bad idea.
For one, the large amount of students running would cause multiple someone's to be trampled. Secondly, that makes it easier for the gunman to just spray bullets and catch everyone.

Crazy any human can go into a kids school and just start taking lives like this. Every shot i hear i inow a kid is dieing crying and terrified. Im a parent of 2 n this breaks my heart every time
My kids would be home schooled if I lived in the US…this is very sad 😢

I cld not bring myself to watch this until now it made my heart break for these poor families and teachers and children, but the entire police force that was there should have been charged with crimes and dissmissed from their jobs. They look like a bunch of pu--ys just standing there in the hallway. I hope this lack of duty to serve and protect haunts them for their entire lives! I cant imagine my child being in that school. Absolutley deplorable. 😢🙏🏻❤
