So Benjamin adjusted to his new sister, but brother Russell is definitely fighting for attention đ
They will end up the best of friends
My cats were always obsessed with the babies. They tolerated everything even after the kids were mobile. The second birthday is about the time the cats started discipline.
When I had my youngest, I had 3 kitties. My female cat had no intrest, but my 3 Male cats were obsessed with him. My older make more so. We would find him always wanting to snuggle next to the baby. He passed away when my son was 2. After he passed my other Male cat became super protective over my son. He always had to have an eye on him. When he would be outside and my son would toddle off away from me, Henry would run to cut my son off or stop him from going to far. My son is almost 9 and the cat still follows him everywhere. It's such an amazing bond.
Russell, was doing that even before Samantha Grace was born
Lol Russellâs like âwhat is this in my spot, mom?!â
You need to film on a big comfy couch to hold everyone!đ
Everyone tries to climb on! Even tho the little one is older he still sits in my lap and the dog sits half on mine half on his
Russell was like âyea yea the baby is cute BUT look at my TOES!!â Lol. So happy to have a video to watch. đđ±
Laura, you are 14 short days post-op from a major abdominal surgery. (RN here.) You just spent nine months growing an entire, beautiful human! You are probably sleep deprived. Only having minor word finding difficulty, and making potentially short answers a bit longer, is demonstration of how wonderfully you are truly doing. Plus, you are working and making videos!! I am amazed by you two!! Thanks for another wonderful video to take our minds off of lockdowns and stress and too many ill patients. Take care and keep healing and resting when you can. The cobwebs will keep, as they say. LOL!!
Thank you for being a nurse, and for all you've done during this pandemic. I have several nurse friends so I know it's been tough for you all! You are blessings â€ïžâ€ïž
Thanks to you wonderful nurses and docs. I was hospitalized in January with Covid and the people there were amazingly kind and professional. I don't have enough superlatives to express how I feel. Take care of yourself, too. :)
@@malliemargaret2895 I am so very happy you are recovering!! Thanks so much, and do take care of yourself!!!
@@GardenMinistry. You are so kind. Thank you!!!
Jezi - Thank you for your work as a nurse. My Mom was a nurse for 30 years, so I know a bit of the hard things. I also heard so many people tell me what a wonderful nurse she was. I can tell you are skilled, caring and compassionate. You also know a great gardener, and person, when you see one. (Laura is always amazing, but especially now. I had a C-section and I know I wouldn't be posting a video after two weeks!) I hope you will do some self care. Please know you are appreciated!
Laura you handle the know-it-allâs with such grace and character. Says so much about you! I donât think I could be that nice!
I thought the same thing! I donât think I would be able to deal with that. Lol Their ability to laugh things off and take things with a grain of salt is always so inspiring to me because I would struggle with it and Iâd want to make a snarky comment back. đ
Your beautiful successful gardens speak for themselves!!! and such a gracious reply!!! You two are treasures!!!!
I love her positive attitude in situations like that. Iâm hoping it rubs off on me!đŹđ
I agree! đ
I agree
Has that commenter seen your garden. Iâve learned so much from you. Iâve never gardened before finding your channel. Your gardens are beautiful.
Russell trying to complete for cuddling is too sweet.
I think Benjamin was trying to say he wanted to say âhi guys howâs it goinâ together đâïž such a sweet boy. Youâre such a sweet mom
I think youâre right
He's so very cute âșïžđ€©
I LOLâd at âDo you love your baby sister?â â...okayâ. Like duh mom, why are you asking me this non-sequeter, we were supposed to be doing the intro đ
i liked how you didn't look away as he searched to find words....i always tried to really look at my kids to help them feel heard
Russell is trying to mark her as his. He is rubbing his sent on her so everyone will know that she is his human.â€â€đ
Woohooo...Aaron volunteering to create flower alley. I remember him saying he didnât enjoy planting the competition containers. Canât wait to see what he chooses!
It would also be fun to let Benjamin help choose đ
I just watched their entire yearly container alley, getting my brain ideas flowing for this upcoming year, and so i am excited to see what he does
I love your comment because I was thinking the same thing......will Aaron plant the plants and colours that he likes? đ
Iâm really looking forward to seeing this and I also like the idea of an experiment with different fertiliser/none đ
Maybe allow Benjamin and Aaron to do the container alley. When Samantha Grace is older you can have the boys against the girls. đ
Came here to say this! Aaron now loves doing the flower pots! I remember when he was so hesitant to do it at the beginning!
@@The_Crazy_Garden_Lady yes he wasn't even interested in plants!
Love getting distracted by russel's antics. Him trying to steal the blanket such a cuite.
Benjamin is slo sweet! And Russell is so funny trying to get his spot on Laura's lap back đ€Ł
I suggest putting a little bed for Russell in place of the plant to your left. He really wants to be near you! đ
Great idea. He wants his mommy
Russell was like hey y'all are in my spot mover over!đ
Russell loves his mother and just wants to be on you like he usually is!â€ïž
Flower Alley with Aaron sounds like fun.
Amazing how fast Benjamin is growing up, Wow!
Thank you for sharing your beautiful family with us. Growing season for sure.
Samantha Grace is beautiful it seems like Benjamin is not at all jealous but Russel is another matter. Heâs hilarious he wants to be up in front of the camera or in your lap. What a ham! Love it and your beautiful family
Russell is to cute. Cats have a nurturing instinct. He wonât hurt her. Congratulations on Samantha !
Russellâs having a hard time accepting the Lap has to be shared.... so cute. Laura you look great!
Aaron, no apology for lighting necessary . . i am thankful to see everyone healthy and happy!
where i grew up, it snowed twice in 60 years so we used to make "snowmen" out of the tumbleweeds (including hat, scarf and mittens and spray painted white)
It so cool to think that in 5-10 years, when you are talking about doing garden projects with kids, like fairy gardens and such, you could actually show you doing them with your kids. So cute. You've got adorable kids.
Had to laugh about the driving. I was surprised to see you driving, too. I was told 2 weeks, no driving. But, I'm your Mom's age and thought maybe times have changed.
Now I have to look up that planting method brought up by a commenter. Hilarious that she actually wrote you are killing your trees. Actually burst out laughing!!!!
The saying goes, âThere is more than one way to skin a cat.â Yâall keep doing what you do. You know jealous, bored or narcissistic people have to put their 2 cents in. You guys are doing great.
I think Russell is jealous. He wants his spot...lol
Exactly what I was thinking! He was trying to tell you "you're in my spot"
Yea!
Nar, he's just gained another "spot". Kids always have the snuggliest blankies haha.
Kitties are really sensitive to additions in the family
i agree, he seems to want attention. im not a cat lover so i will keep it away from the baby.
My favorite quote from this video- âmake the bugs suffer a little bitâđ
Laura, in spite if how miserable you felt before Samantha Grace was born, you never let it show. You are such a professional and a trooper! Glad all is going so well for the four of you. Stay well and be blessed!!
Benjamin reminds me so much of my grandson. He loved trains so much that he would play for hours lining up his Thomas the trains while watching the Thomas the train shows. I would tease him that watching Thomas is like watching paint dry. He would get mad and say NOT paint dry lol. Heâs 9 now and watching Benjamin brings back those good memories.
Awww, look at Russell trying to get there to get the baby attention he used to get when Laura would put him on her lap while doing her recap videos.
Laura looks radiant with family, new baby girl and Benjamin and Aaron. This is one of the things so many people are fans of. Her real life style and relate-ability!
Russel wants to love the baby. I regret not letting my cat be near my baby. She loved that baby and wanted to be with him but I believed all the old wives tales so kept her away. When she realized she wasn't going to be allowed, her love turned off and never again did she want to be near him. There is nothing sweeter than a cat/child friendship.
I love how Laura addresses passive aggressive comments with grace. My anger issues could never đđ
It wasnât passive aggressive it was outright hostile. My jaw actually dropped. She could have not featured that question but took the high road and did. Absolute grace and dignity.
Laura LaursBorud yeah I listened to it twice. So rude! Those that donât bother doing positive things in the world end up doing things like hate watching a free gardening video. She probably gives thumbs down to cute kitten videos too! Smh
All I see is RUSSELL. He loves our little bundle of joy. Usually he was everywhere and he looks so gentle around the baby
Aaron volunteering to do flower alley is awesome! I hope he follows through.
My childhood home was absolutely purchased out of a Seas catalog in 1920! We found the plans and order sheet when my dad was remodeling the basement. They were in a wall.
Samantha Grace just stole my attention, such a precious gift she is.
As I watch this video with Russell vying for space and attention, and precious Samantha Grace chillin-the scene is too adorable for wordsâ€ïž as a grandmother of ten and great grandmother of two-i can tell you these are sweet, sweet days to cherish forever.
By the way-you two know she wonât be this calm for long. I predict the antics in your family will fill your videos-and be something we all will enjoy and are looking forward to. đ
I may have to watch this again. I found myself just staring at that beautiful little face! Such a sweet baby. So happy for all of you. â€ïžâ€ïžâ€ïžâ€ïž
Sounds like Jan needs a hug and reassurance that everything will be ok. đđŒââïž Bless her heart! đ đ€ đșđž
Ive only been gardening for 10 years or so.... Learnt more from your videos in a few months than in 9 years or so.... If Laura and Aaron say plant a tree this way... I'm gonna take their advice.... I managed to grow my first greenpepper from seed... I have 4 plants now...they have greenpeppers on... Yay!!!! Thanx Laura... Through this very long and lonely year for me, you've given me inspiration to grow again....
Ok, you are going to have to give us some video of Samantha Grace when she's awake, she's just too chill! Russell is cracking me up. Kids and pets are priceless
I think Russell believes Samantha Grace is his new girl friend... what a sweet girl and hysterical cat...and if Benjamin gets any cuter I'm gonna melt. Your family is truly treat to watch
Wow, she is such a good baby! Mine always woke up if they heard my voice and then demanded all my attention. Life was great as a mom, but ever so much better as a grandmother! lol
Our century home is a Montgomery Ward catalog house that was shipped by train. During our home renovation, we learned that the house has double sheathing. They built houses to last back then! I think it's fun to look at old house plans, too, especially the old Victorians. Baby Samantha Grace is adorable! She looks like much older than she is. Benjamin was so cute wanting to help his Mama with the video. I bet he could help you sign off: "We'll see you in the next one." How cute would that be!
Russell is trying so hard to get back to his old routine and lay on your lap but Samantha Grace took his spot. Life changes. As always love your channel.
Awww Bless her heart she's such an angel and that shot of you, Samantha Grace and Russell by your side was beyond preciousđ±đżđ·đż
Wow, your upbeat optimism is really awe inspiring. I would never have been able to handle that know-it-all's comment so politely. Talk about condescending...
I thought the same thing! So rude!!
@@kathleensabourin556 Me three! Myself I've become much less fussy with planting following Laura's example.Guess what the sky didn't fall!
@Garden Party love your comment
Russel needs his air time. He loves the camera. My kitty loves watching him
I just wanted to comment on how full of grace your responses are to all questions. I so appreciate how you share a positive perspective with the world. My granddaughters (5&7yrs old)love to watch your videos and itâs great that they are learning more than just a love of gardening by watching you. An inspiration in living and in gardening!đ
Russell is the star of this video. I donât think heâs adjusted to the new addition as well as Benjamin. And those feet...love them! đ»đ»
Russell trying to "make bread" on you and the baby is so sweet. He is so gosh dang cute.
Laura, I want to say that you are my MMOOSSTT FFAAVVOORRIITTEE personality on screen. You have a cheerful, happy and so very charming attitude. (Sorry if you feel my comment is personal.) I adore all your videos, you have given gardening a new dimension for me.
( your family is so cute, god bless and protect you all.)
Im trying to pay attention but I couldn't stop staring at Russell and all his polydactyl-ness đ€Łđ€Łđ€Ș
He always makes me laugh.
Me too! I love how much he wants attention.
He definitely wants to be the star of videos. Such a cutie âșïž
Love the idea of Aaron wanting to keep the flower alley routine going!! Thanks appreciate!! Beautiful family!! Thank you all for making all the videos!
She is adorable! As a safety tip, when she gets older and starting to squirm, make sure you remove her headband when taking a nap . The head band can slip down and cover her nose. Please do not be offended, I have heard of babies being smothered by headbands with big bows.
Great useful lifesaving tip!!!
You are correct I seen a lady in the store this happen to her baby the headband slip off her baby's head and was over the baby's nose she was not aware I seen the baby moving I let her know she just kept saying thank you so much for seeing this.I have learned alot from other parents.
I canât make it past the first few minutes without cracking up over Russell. đčHe wants his fav personâs (Lauraâs) lap....heâs not use to someone being there when youâre filming.
I thought the baby looked like Aaron when you filmed in the hospital ....Benjamin definitely looks like your Momđ
Me too! So funny!
He's all,
'how can I get in here...'
He just wants to curl up and get some of that delicious body heat!! Cuddle Time!!!!!
Hope Samantha not allergic to cats
I love that cat đ. Always looking for attention đđđ
I had two c sections and when I saw you driving I was surprised also. They told me that I could not drive or life heavy things for at least 3 -4 weeks. Driving was because if you are in an accident you might hurt the staples. I am just glad that you are feeling so well you feel well enough to to leave. It took me a good month to bounce back. Love all you do!
I had 4 c-sections. My last one was 25 years ago. My staples were removed before I ever left the hospital and I was told I could start driving once I was no longer in need of pain killers stronger than tylenol.
It's crazy how different doctors have different rules.
Postpartum nurse here! Staples are almost never used now, internal dissolvable stitches are almost always used. Hospitals never really want a patient to drive themselves home for liability reasons. We will tell moms not to drive if theyâre using Norco or Percocet, both of which are common meds to send home with a recovering c-section mom.
@@katie_lundberg I am glad things have changed. The staples always stressed me when I had to have them removed! I was to tired to drive anywhere after the births and did not bonce back as fast as Laura! Thanks for your information.
@@jenniferolague6926 Wow-I was sent home with the staples and had to go back to get them removed. It always made me nervous-I felt nothing, so my worry was for nothing. Glad things have changed for the better.
My oldest sonâs name is Christian. People eventually started calling him Chris...which I hated, but that was his choice. And now that he is all grown up (49) most people are now calling him Christian again. đ Now Iâm a happy Mom.
The most beautiful BIG trees I see are Copper Beech Trees! They are gorgeous and smooth barked- I think they look fairy like! Not sure if you can grow them there, appears to be a northeastern tree- but I love the leaves in all seasons and I can picture a big swing off one of it's branches! Look at your baby girl, her perfect lil' face is the SWEETEST! PS: My nephew also had his second baby recently- his first, like Benjamin is the perfect big brother- can't help but share how sweet he is with his new brother and that they too, make sure to share special time with him apart from baby
I might have re-watched this intro like 6 times so far... ahh! My heart!! Sweet little Benjamin and Samantha Grace!
You have a beautiful daughter and cute son, you are blessed!!! I love how you handle negative comments with such grace. You and Aaron a great team...love watching your channel!
Sweet Russell! He just wants some loving too. He needs to see who's getting all your loveys and get some for himself!
Congratulations on your beautiful Samantha Grace! Watching this video, and Russell trying to get close to her, reminds me of my cat when I had my own baby girl. I finally gave up shooing him away from her - he would sit on the arm of the couch and lick the top of her head - it would put her instantly asleep and he seemed to be really happy to help take care of her! Russell's persistence just brought that back to me!! Enjoy your family!!!
That is so sweet!
I don't think Russell is mad ..I think he's just wanting to love on Samantha. My cat loved our baby ..just wanted to smell his head and lay on his feet. It was very sweet. Btw our baby is 43 but remembered like it was yesterday đ
YES. I felt he was curious
Nothing smells sweeter than little downy headed babies. Russell just wants to cuddle with Samantha, like all of us. :)
I used to let my pets love on my baby whi is now 26. It was so adorable and they were always very protective and gentle with him.
Ohhh Russell giving you and Samantha Grace lovie eyes is precious. It seems like Russell really enjoys the baby!
Russell cracks me up, poor thing wants to squeeze in and be on camera too!
Awwww sweet Russell was so desperately looking for his spot on your lap lol
Tumble weeds. Daddy brought one home as a Christmas tree. We were ready with all the ornaments and went to town. We were happy and cried.
I love tumbleweed Christmas trees. We had one for the "Back East" students at our "Out West" University dorm.
Samantha is so adorable, and weâve been in love with Benjamin from the beginning. Thanks for sharing so much of your lives with us!
As I'm watching you, giggling about Russel trying to snuggle his way closer, my kitty is doing the same. Just wanting to be near...funny to watch him.
Poor Russell, someone has taken over his lap..."hey, that's where I sit!"
Loving that Aaron wants to take over Flower Alley! Iâve enjoyed the container competitions youâve had in the past - Aaron has a good eye and itâs fun to watch you two working together. I get excited when I can get my husband to give his opinion on which bulbs to order. Iâd love to see him plant a few containers:)
I'm so excited for Aaron's flower alley!!
So EXCITED to see Aaron do a planting series. That sounds amazing!!!
Jan, I donât think Laura is worried about doom and failure. Trial and error makes progress. I believe thatâs what makes her wildly successful. Were you the one to suggest, a few years back, planting shrubs and trees in a square hole was the proper way to plant?
Iâm NOT that rude preachy commenter. I came to the comments just to see if I was the only one super turned off by her tone & attitude. Never ceases to amaze me how rude people can be. I love Laura & her hubby & am grateful for so much free gardening inspiration! đđŒđđșđđž
Russell: If mom wonât let me on her lap, I shall lay in this lime tree.
Hey Laura and Aaron, you know that no one was paying any attention to you guys and we were all watching Samantha Grace sleep. How nice to have a peaceful calm baby, you are indeed blessed. Maybe we'll pay attention to you guys in the next video. đ
My daughters name is spelled McKenzie because I didnât want her called Mac. However I failed to notice her initials are MAK and her best friends initials are SAK so everyone calls them mak and sak and she even has it on her license plate! Lol my best laid plans ruined đ
Same!!! I did Mykenzie. My Mom and sister call her Makkie! Lol. " Kenzie" stuck.

Loved seeing Benjamin and Samantha Grace! You are a blessed family and are wished only the best. Thank you for sharing your life with us. Glad your recovery is going well. Take everything at whatever pace is best for all of youđâ€ïž
Samantha Grace is absolutely beautiful. I feel the same when I named my son Matthew. I didnât want him called Matt. He chose to go by the Spanish version, Mateo, after he was grown following his heritage.
Yes! A "when to sew seed" video would be so helpful! Also a "what to cook with these herbs" video. I grow herbs and then fall short with using them. So I've stopped growing so many.
I would love to see the whole process of picking out a tree. There's so many options and seasons to consider, how do you organize your thoughts and come to a decision?
Fungus gnats eggs are sometimes in seed starting soils. Someone said if you moisten your soil with boiling water and the stir it in and let it cool before you fill your flats you can avoid them. It kills the eggs. What do you think of this idea?
One plant per pot is a great way to try out a new plant that you've never grown before. Or sometimes I buy a 1 gal shrub on clearance, pop it into a 12-14" container with Biotone and good soil for a year or two to give it a really great new start. I have some lovely azaleas, dwarf spruce and boxwood planters on my deck that started out this way. A great way to allow a $3-$5 clearance plant to shine anew!
It's more like 'how Russell's doing with the new baby sister?' đ Benjamin looks like he's handling it like a champ đ
I love your idea Laura of trying the different fertilizers in the pots. I have always wondering which is really the best.
I smiled the whole way through with Samantha-Grace in your arms, giggled when Russel tried in vein to get to you lap and was just pleased for you that you getting back to your other great passion in life... gardening. Itâs summer here in Australia so things are very different but you always bring me great inspiration. Thank you all, including Russell đ±
IÂŽve never heard of the combination Samantha Grace (live in Sweden so itÂŽs not that weird because both name are American đ) but I LOVE the combination! It sounds so beautiful together.
Samantha and Benjamin are so cute. Yay! Aaron saves Flower Alley! I love seeing how things progress over the season.
I am sooo happy for this video. It was like catching up with a friend. Thanks for including us in your life.
Its so funny to watch Russell trying to edge his way in around you. Congratulations on your beautiful baby girl. Enjoy because children grow way too fast!
I have a daughter Samantha (LOVE the name!), and she always preferred Sam or Sammy. The only thing she got angry about was when people called her by her twin sister's name (Alexandra)! Haha. Interestingly, her husband ALWAYS calls her Samantha. â€
Fyi I remember going to joannes with my 3 ur old granddaughter and she put a lot of stuff in cart that I let her but ended up putting back when she was not looking and she never missed it..such a fun memory however...
When we lived in Colorado, windy days would "gift" us with tumble weeds in our yard. Our dog loved to chase them and occasionally get his head stuck in them. đ I would have to rescue the nutty creature. He never learned to leave them alone.
Laura, I have learned so much from you! As an aside, we moved to the Boise area from Southern California 6 years ago, after 46 years of gardening there, so itâs like learning to garden all over. Weâre loving Idaho and enjoying the garden challenge. Thankfully I found you a few weeks before Christmas. All of your efforts on record are the best Christmas present ever, a master gardening class, and my spirits are lifted!
For anyone reading this a year later, and because you mentioned fungus gnats in this video, I just started using âSundewâ carnivorous plants to catch the gnats in a small potted plant area in the house. Itâs amazing how the two very small/young plants âmunchâ the gnats. Iâve been using them to guard my 6 Phalaenopsis orchids and a few other plants. It keeps down having to spray. Iâm dying to find a standing pitcher plant (they are so cool), also carnivorous, but havenât been able to put my hands on a big one, yet. I would bet Benjamin would be fascinated. Hopefully this will help someone a year later, Jan, 2022!
Samantha Grace has surely grown and I hope you all have/had a grand time celebrating her 1st Birthday!
July 2023đ

Oh! Benjamin you look so cute trying to figure out what to say to the camera :) and I love watching you holding Samantha Grace "pure joy and love"
btw I'm looking forward to see Aaron handles the flower alley. :D
I think Samantha Grace heard you talk so much doing videos during your pregnancy that it is soothing to her! She is so cute and you look wonderful!
I love how you accept negative comments and answer so politely. I had to laugh at myself because I always think people are so rude telling you how to do and not do things, then seeing you lift pots or soil knowing you had a cesarean. As a nurses Iâm thinking wait Laura that is too heavy! Lol đ€ŠđŒââïž I love your videos and those babies!â€ïž
