I think it is more natural for Aaron to sit across from you. You often converse with him and it's like we get to sit at the table.
Please put the making Curtains Video on this channel, I would Loveeee seeing it HEREâ€â€â€
I totally agree Stacy
I think your renos and home related-content could easily go on this Highlights Channel. You could make it an "informal" series (no schedule) and have all the videos in a themed Playlist. I think a whole new channel would be more management/work for you guys.
I would really love to see more content that is more general/home related as well and I think the highlights channel is broad enough to cover that. Having another separate channel to monitor is not really an advantage for us as viewers I donât think?
I agree. Iâd prefer not to have another channel to track. The highlights channel feels like an appropriate place for such videos
I totally agree with all of you. I think non-gardening videos, such as cooking, home renovations, Christmas lights around the property, , Holiday decorating, etc. could live on the highlights channel in separate playlists for the various topics instead of creating a third channel. đđđ»đđ đ
âMost people like seeing Aaronâs face.â We ALL love to see Aaron in the videos. LOVE that he is in the recap now! Thank you both for everything.
I like to see Aaron's Handsomeness...Laura is beautiful!...to see their union working together is happiness to their viewers!
Yep - he's got such a sweet smile and temperament. They are both role models for anyone and with Benjamin and Grandma, this is just the best family reality show :)
Random.
Want is your bark buch that flower ,that you love they best?
you guys are so considerate.eg You don't want deciduous trees because you don't want your neighbours to have to deal with leaves. Do you realise how rare this is?
Amen. Wish this comment could be 'liked' a hundred times.
So true! Our neighbor planted a tree just mere feet away from our driveway. What a mess!
@@audreyholt7721 anything that hangs over your property can be trimmed, looking straight up at your property line. They should not have planted it that close because roots can affect under your driveway in a bad way just the same as the top will affect your property.
As a mom myself, I loved your story about how your mom did exactly what you needed to get you to change your â wild and crazyâ ways. Thatâs a very smart mom. Kudos to her and you too.
I couldn't see you skipping anything. Wow, your Mom rocked the responsible parent badge. Great example for you and big shoes to fill when your kids get to the "teen" age. Always enjoy the family stories that slip in to your videos. Thanks for sharing.
I totally understand me and my husband never sit together side by side at a restaurant because then the conversation doesn't flow properly. And it feels really weird. The always sit across from each other so he can look into my beautiful eyes and I could look at his great smile.
It always looks like they are waiting for another coupleâŠlol
I realize this is judgmental. But when I see couples sitting on the same side of a booth I always think thereâs a bit of a codependency issue going it. Iâm very tall and my bias is strongly toward having my own space. Of course, everyone should do what makes them happy. But it definitely looks odd to me
42 years together and Hubby and I have always sat across from each other, even when dating... seems off balance unless you are with other people....
I would love for you to just use the highlights channel for random projects. Love seeing you and Aaron on the recap.
We'll take Aaron any way we could get him. It was a refreshing change. Keep mixin' it up.
I vote for any home renoâs/other random non-garden related projects to be on this Highlights channel. Adding another channel, which would most likely be made up of all the current subscribers, seems unnecessary. Maybe rename this channel GA Home and Highlights. Iâll also add, Iâm glad you stopped the mail time videoâs. Obviously, if we donât like them we donât have to watch, but it was getting way out of hand and did seem like it was encouraging people to give gifts; even to the point some people felt they had to âone upâ other peoples gifts. Iâm sure the majority was donated to charities because honestly, how many lotions, candles, decor items, blankets and baby clothes does one need. Having said all that, I love your channel(s)and will watch no matter what you do.
Yes! This!
I totally agree! I never watched those âhaulâ vlogs. I get it but gifts given from strangers donât seem like they have much meaning.
I thought the unboxing videos always felt kind of awkward for you guys. Also, youâre right about the more you show the gift giving, the more perpetuating it becomes. One content creator I follow that started out doing small unboxing videos when his channel was small, ended up having to rent a storage unit to contain the avalanche of boxes he received as his channel grew. It buried him alive.
Totally agree about removing the mail time videos!
Sheila .... I totally agree with all you said ..... !!!
I really like getting this on Sundays now! Wow, you skipped school, Laura! There is hope for all our children! đ Kidding aside...I did the same thing with my daughter...she is now in the US Navy. It works. đ Awesome recap!
I was laughing at the security question and answer because I see Cheddar and Russell in the background when you do the recap. I often think they are patrolling. I see Russell follow Laura thinking that he is ready to launch into attack mode if needed to protect you . Cats are protective of their people.
On a serious note, no one should shower up to your home. Boundaries are important.
The highlights channel is a great place for sharing whatever you're up to (but once the major renovations begin, a separate channel makes complete sense). Also, I completely respect the decision to stop filming mail time videos! I'm still hoping for a garden tour that shows the original garden...I've missed those spaces this season.
I agree and may I add, five videoâs on main channel would be very accepted. It would be missed but family time is more important especially in these early years.
Oh man, I can just see and hear Benjamin's response Christmas morning as he's opening his own "camera equipment."
For me , the highlights channel is a bonus channel for anything and everything that you don't want to put on your main channel.đ Like a surprise box . Love the unknown of it all!
I think that discouraging mail time gifts was such a wise and healthy decision for your site and at a perfect time (after Samantha Grace's arrival) . I have seen other sites have a dedicated gift vlog that has become overwhelming ...a bit sickening by the extravagance, postal costs, etc...not your case at all, never has been . And that , among many other things, is the reason I appreciate your all soooo much :))
I agree that I'm glad they chose to stop doing mail time. While the bulk of people have the best of intentions, there are more and more people who do it just to hear their name spoken in a video. Takes away from the beauty of gift giving.
@@gardenjourney1489 yes, over-invested watchers...but I haven't felt this as much with Laura's gift-givers...came from a good â€ïž.And maybe if they just do one or two for the Holidays it would be a natural fit.
I really do missed it ,maybe once in a while would be good
Little Laura skipping school and hanging out with boys! I just canât picture it. Lol. My mom was the disciplinarian in our house too, but if my dad heard her yelling a lot and us not obeying, all it took was one look from him and you knew you had better be doing what you had been told. Love my parents so much for caring and making us kids behave.
The mail time did seem like a burden rather than a blessing. Encouraging viewers to give back to local charities is a much better option. I personally get anxious when there is too much stuff! I have been gifted items over the years that I don't like to regift and generally donate to my church's yearly thrift sale.
Same ! When they shared mail time Iâd fine myself getting anxious with all the stuff ! Especially the baby clothes for Samantha đ
Agree overall. It probably does encourage more of same which can actually become a burden.
The one thing I will say is that occasionally something really cool and unique came up and I enjoyed seeing it as a potential gift idea. Maybe as part of a holiday gift guide? It could be positioned as representative or âhighlightsâ of some of the more interesting things we might like to see.
Yes! Some people bought more for Samanthaâs arrival than I bought for my grand nieces. It seemed excessive to send so much to someone that you do not know, and that doesnât know you. It comes off as an unhealthy attachment rather than just being a fan.
Love this new format! The chat style of conversation between you two is so natural!
Kudos to Laura's mom for taking care of business ! You are a daughter to be proud of.
Thank you
For
Stopping mail time!!! It was overwhelming on this side of the camera as well.
I am average American male size and always end up holding the throw pillow the whole time I'm in the chair too, Aaron đ. People showing up on your property freaks me out. Lack of social awareness is right! Who are you going to dislike more than these space invaders? It's as if they are unable to imagine it happening to them. đŹ. GA viewers, stop that immediately!
I thought he was using the pillow to keep his hands warm. LOL!
@@aa37988 me too
@@aa37988 ha! Could be!
I'm a pillow holder too!! I can't believe some think it's OK to invade another person's personal space.... would you want it done to you??? Seriously.....
It's good support if you have any shoulder issues:)
Iâd prefer you throw in a non- garden video on your main GA platform, especially in the dead of winter. Obviously, people wonât want a lot of them. Love the cooking segments and antiquing. If a person isnât interested in the topic, they donât have to watch it.
Off subject but when Laura shared a little more personal aspect of her life; I even had a higher admiration for her; we all (definitely I do) put our Garden Guru up on huge pedestal; sheâs perfect; and her sharing a more in-depth look into her life showed how much more perfect she is! It touched my heart to think she feels that close to all of us âgarden friendsâ ; thank you for continuing to inspire so many of us in total different aspects of life!
Such a good way to wake up early on a Sunday! Glad you decided to post these on Sundays!
I love the new set up with Aaron on camera
Also... Sitting across at dinner in a booth makes way more sense. You're normal
I'd say out whatever you want on the highlights channel . That way you won't have to bother with the time and effort of starting another channel . Love the new format of seeing both of you guys !
I always enjoy seeing/hearing Aaron, as Garden Answer is a team effort and never forgotten as being so. His presence is the precise balance your videos need, whether seen or unseen, it makes sense. BTW, a fact about 'red' cats is that they're almost always male. Love Russel's videobombing too!
About cats, in the same way, calico (three colors) cats are almost always females ! Something to do with the genes for that being on the X chromosome and you need 2 X chromosomes for it to happen
No new channel for home improvements. I think we all love both your channels enough that you can post anything anytime and we would love it!!
I'm trying to imagine what the content would be for the original garden channel during the winter, slower times of the season, or bad weather days. Love how the content is done now with only highlights on the highlights channel. Some topics would be a challenge to decide which channel to put it on and for us to find such as the last video where gathering from the garden and root cellar before making the meal, then visiting to serve it. Don't need a channel for each part of that or searching for which channel it may have been included in. This is to say nothing of it adding to their already heavy work load and topped off by parenting young children.
Love the Highlights videos as feel like a nice sit down visit with friends. Love Aaronâs on camera presence. Great Team!!!
I vote to just put the home renovations on the highlights channel. I don't want to have to keep subscribing to channels for every little subject. Just make the highlights a catch-all please.
Love Aaron on camera AND Aaron has a great voice too ⊠more Aaron all day every day
I agree! Aaron has a nice voice.
Sounds like your mother was a great mom ! I wish more kids had a mom like yours instead of trying to be their kid's pal/friend. God bless her. Now that you have children of your own can you see why your mom was on top of things ?
Love all the teaching you have provided in your videos. Thank you Ms Laura and Mr. Aaron...Mr. Benjamin.
God bless you and yours.
Highlight channel anything goes. I would love to see Laura make curtains. Thanks for all that you do.
I hired a "Chad" to re-landscape around my house and so appreciate how careful and neat he was. He moved my garden spot and carefully re-located my topsoil from the old spot to the new. And, he even planted a cover crop on the new spot to keep weeds at bay. It was so awesome.
My thing with dividing plants is that I hate to buy a plant more than once. If I buy 10 varieties of daylilies and want to eventually expand them in a few years, I'd rather do a little extra work to divide them out than to spend the money it'd take to get that many daylilies new again. There's also something fun about taking one plant and making hundreds over several years and spreading it all around your garden and to others đ
Same here. đ. I also like giving away some of my older plants.
Some things do better if they are divided after 3 or 4 years. (Like iris and day lilies). It rejuvenates them. Like repotting a root bound house plant.
Isn't that what home gardening is all about? I like to dig up "extras" and create another site for them. It's all just so fun and to be in like company.
Highlight channel for sure for random content. I don't want to keep track of another channel đ« đ€Ł
Wow, hard to imagine Laura running with the wrong crowd.
My Grandmother grew Celosia similar to that variety. She called them Cocks Comb. I really like both you and Aaron miked up for the weekly highlights video. It adds a lot to the dynamic of your dialog. You guys rock the garden channels
Now that I saw the actual plant, that is what my husbandâs grandmother called them, and she hard a very long rectangle garden, which, it exactly what Laura would call a flower cutting garden!
Laura, what is the China pattern for the cup you are drinking from? Itâs gorgeous!
For any future home renovations I would keep it all on the highlights channel. You can rename it and call it Garden and Home Highlights. đ
Also, the GA highlights page can easily be all the things that donât quite fit on the main channel. Iâm here for that!đ
I definitely like sitting across from someone and with my back to the wall if at all possible, so I can see the whole room. I love seeing Aaron's face, thanks.
You are BLESSED to have Paul, Bethany and your other help! To have someone who can make cement disappear and leave no trace is beyond awesome! Keep him happy!!
Good morning! I love spending my Sunday morning with a tea and reminiscing about all the garden videos! My husband and I sit across from each other in a restaurant or even at home eating dinner like you said more natural conversations and our necks don't hurt! Thanks for all you do! đșđ»đ from Ontario Canada đšđŠ
The story from your childhood meant a lot to me (and Iâm sure others too). Sometimes we go through things like this and it leaves us feeling unworthy. Your story of triumph is a real inspiration to me. Thank you đ
I like seeing Aaron on the videos and him giving feedback/comments.
My oldest son was following the wrong crowd too in middle school. I told him one day, if he was going to be a follower and not a leader then I would pull him out of school, homeschool and make sure he was with people he could follow. Four years later at his baptism, without my knowledge he shared in his testimony that that conversation was a turning point for him in his life. We did pull him out of school two years after that conversation. He is now a father of two beautiful children, a good leader and a godly man. I am so grateful to Jesus for the changes He made in my son! Praise the Lord!
Love this format with Aaron! Also, I think adding random topic videos to the highlights channel would be great. I may be wrong but I feel that the subscribers to the highlights channel are due-hard GA fans that would happily watch you do anything you felt like filming. We are all in so just make it easy on yourselves! đ
John & I have always sat across from each other. It does hurt my neck, and I prefer to make eye contact when conversing. I love you two & your sweet kids, mom too! Great to have Aaron in the picture. P. S. When does Aaron start to put up Christmas lights? Can't wait to see what he does this year, don't forget to show sweet Samantha's face when she sees it!
Yes hahha đ€Łđ€Łđ€Ł Everytime my husband says it'd more romantic to sit next to each other, our neck pain pays for it hahaha.
My husband and I have been married 18 years and have always sat across from each other while out to eat. So I agree itâs awkward. BTW it is refreshing to see Aaron take part and to see his face on with you whether across or side by side.
I love when Aaron started talking in the videos because it was another persons perspective on things. I also LOVE the banter between Laura and Aaron. It is VERY sweet.
A few years back, my local city parkâs workers applied a heavy dose of what they âthoughtâ was a beneficial fertilizer only to end up killing most of our 30-40 year old evergreen treesâŠsad, very sad, especially since we really struggle with growing things here in the high deserts of Wyoming. Itâs so very important to know what you are working with when it comes to pesticides, herbicides and fertilizers. It can be devastating and the mistake of a lifetime!!!
That's heartbreaking! :(
Having a visual of Aaron while he is talking is the best!!! Love this concept. Hope it continues!
Wow! You sure have some beautiful people following you đ You really deserve it because you, Aaron and family are so very lovely and giving.
God bless you đ
I get upset when people slow down in front of my house and look, I can't imagine finding people wandering on my property that weren't invited. My husband always tells me they are looking at your flowers and usually they are. lol But you have a secluded entrance, wow, that would be frreaky! Stay safe, stay well.
Happy Sunday everyone! đ We're here early today to enjoy the weekly recap!
It would be so weird to just show up at someoneâs private home, to peek around, âhey Iâm just a CZcams follower here to take a look at your gardens!â God bless your patients.
Lol, about Laura and her mom. I agree with Lauraâs mom, it really matters what friends kids have.!đđ
Aarons answer of people lacking âsocial awarenessâ was so polite and gracefulâŠ. A whole lot better answer than I would have givenâŠ. Mine would have been the two clicks of a shot gun⊠đđŒââïž đ€Łđ€Łđ€Łđ€Ł
My hubby and I sit across from each other weather we are eating at home or in a restaurant. I laughed so hard when Laura said âwouldnât your neck hurtâ referring to couples who choose to sit side by side. Great video! Love seeing the interaction between Aaron and Laura!
I absolutely cannot picture Laura being any trouble! Just goes to show you never know a personâs story by just looking from the outside. Your mama sounds amazing.
you guys get the weirdest funniest questions sometimes đ But take them all in such stride and answer them in such a kind way
I agree! I think it would be bizarre to sit side by side in a restaurant especially.
Laura did a video this year about just drip. Also Jenny of Harmony Hill did a drip video which was very informative. She bought a kit and took us along from unboxing to complete installation. I learned of the nuances and the more intimidating filter/backflow that comes in the kit, from her video. Good luck : D (Lousie is my middle name...after my Grandma who I miss very much : )
@@KatherineTheGr8t Thank you so much Katherine, i will find those videos ! :)
So wonderful to hear about your Mom. She loved (loves) you so much that she was willing to do whatever needed to protect you. That is a true Mom. I think it is wonderful to encourage giving to those in need - those who choose to bless you, will continue to do so. As well, whatever you post, we will watch - planting dying plants - we will watch, making curtains - we will watch, reading the telephone book - we will, well, I donât think there is much of a telephone book anymore but you get the idea!
My husband has zero interest in my garden but appreciates its beauty. Heâs happier if I donât ask his opinion regarding new plant placement.
If someone wants to look into nonprofits in their community to donate to, talking to your local United Way and seeing who they work with is a great start. When the United Way works with an organization, they have to pass both a financial audit and an audit of their services provided to the community, so anyone the United Way supports has been thoroughly vetted and you should feel very good about the money you donate being used properly. Or you can give to the United Way itself and then it gives funds and grants to all the vetted organizations it works with.
Great idea. Thank you for the information.
I purposely donât give to United Way because Iâve heard they have a bad reputation for using donations frugally. I give to other organizations.
@@cynthiafisher9907 a lot of people really misunderstand their purpose. The United Way is a community chest organization. They donât actually do the work themselves, they provide grants and funding to other organizations whom they vet ahead of time. They also provide mentoring and resources to help community organizations grow and overcome challenges and provide education on resource inequality to the community. They also usually run the local 211 public resource phone line. But each one is run locally so they tend to all be a bit different.
I think the Highlights channel is the perfect place to put whatever and whenever you want on it. I love Aaron in the videos and he sits in the perfect spot. When my husband and I go out to eat we sit across from each other. We don't like to turn our heads when talking to each other, don't like stiff necks! lol
I love seeing Aron interact, too. We can learn his personality and the way he thinks about things. Please keep it up. Thanks.
Iâd like to see renovations, curtain making whatever on whatever channel is easiest or best for you. Iâll watch wherever you put them. đ
Idea: I would love to have a calendar with your dateline for different planting times, pruning, any schedules for your zone. We could adjust for our own planting zones.
You should give yourself a break for the holidays so you can slow down and enjoy family time. Remember a work week is only 40 hrs a weekâ€ïž
Mangy, wooly, scruffy, and fluffy, Laura's words to describe untrimmed boxwoods.. I love it! I actually like the boxwoods untrimmed LOL
Iâm beginning to think that Paul is an invisible friend. If heâs willing to be on camera, weâd love to meet him. âșïž
Heâs like the elusive Bigfoot, every so often there is a brief glimpse in the backgroundâŠlol..
Laura has mentioned that he doesnât want to be on camera and they honor his wishes.

@@susanmitchell2687 hahaha yes! đđđ
Post it on the high lights channel. If someone doesn't want to watch it they don't have to. I don't think anyone would be bothered by non-plant related videos đ€·ââïžđ
Glad youâre willing to be on camera Aaron, nice to see you! Love that coat lol
I would love to see all the trees and shrubs changing color around you with what they areâŠboth neighbors and those you planted. I started watching the week before you moved and have watched all your videos since. You have blessed we through your love of beauty in our world and a loving family. I started gardening again 4 years ago and people walking past my house tell me they love all my garden. Blessings to you all.
Lack of social awareness my foot! Anyone you don't know that shows up to your property uninvited should be charged with trespassing! These people have a huge problem respecting boundaries.
Good morning, Laura & Aaron âïž I love the recap video on Sunday morning đđ» This way I see you every day! Looking forward to seeing the new shed! Have a Blessed Day đđ
So sorry to hear you must have added security to keep people out. We had five children in our family and my father's hard rule was, "Don't go on the neighbors property. EVER." Our neighbors were great but he believed in honoring others property rights. I still honor this rule and taught my children the same rule. Maybe this issue is why channels like Pioneer Woman opened stores. Fans can go there and not to your property. God bless.
I believe you should continue to use this channel for any off job/project it entails and the main channel for big gardening/landscaping projects. The fact that it may be for doing curtains does not matter. The channel is appropriately named Garden Answer Highlights. It highlights your life whether in the garden or home; i.e., cooking, baking, crafting, pottering, flower arranging, unboxing, etc. This is where we go to see those things. I look forward to your curtain video.đ€đŹđ·
If weâre voting on the format, I like how it feels like a natural evolution. Itâs always been with Laura and Aaron sitting across from each other, conversing. Just pointed another camera to see Aaron. I like it much better than some other channels where they sit side by side. Your weekly highlights are my favorite videos. I hope you never change them from here on out. They have so much information (condensed version of a whole weekâs projects), plus a lot of planning and behind the scenes. Relaxed conversational style that makes me feel included in the conversation. đđđđ
Lantana is an annual in my Northern Utah climate, but it's a perennial in my family home in South Carolina where it gets huge and comes back every year.
Huge Kudos to your Mom setting the boundaries and doing what it takes to keep her kids safe and on a healthy track! Yay and look at you now :)
Anything goes on the highlights channel, works for me.
What a great recap. Sorry you were getting cold. My husband and I sit across from each other so we can talk and interact. Very hard if side by side.
I think you should put the renovation, curtains ect on this highlights channel. I agree should be anything goes. Aaron has enough without a new channel to administer. Benjamin is so sweet and he definitely needs his own camera so he can be like Mom and make wonderful videos. Sounds like a perfect Christmas gift. Thank you both for all you do! đ
Just my opinion, I think the setting side by side is like a âyoungâ or ânewâ couple thing. By now you are totally secure in your love for each other and you want to see each other and have real conversations.
We would watch any video you put out doesnât matter if itâs on the highlights channel or another one. I personally really like the cooking, craft videos and Iâm always excited when I see youâve done one.
As far as the GA coffee table book and calendar, start with the calendar. That can be done cost efficiently. Be sure to include the cats and sunsets
FYI= My Dad was a Minister and someone stole our car while he was preaching one Sunday. We went out to drive home after church service and had no car to ride in. And this was in Boise so never say never! Lol.
I agree! It feels better facing someone while conversing. Love that Aaron is in the Q&Aâs. It feels cozier and like we are having coffee in your garden with you. Plus, he has great ideas to contribute to yours. You two make a great team.
You should invite Paul to a Q&A, so we can get to know him. Always talked about, but rarely seen. That would be cool if you could talk him into it. Your video editor too would be a great guest.
Love the relationship between you and your mom! The sacrifice that a mom is willing to make in order to turn her child back to the right track, is the evidence of the love that she has for that child.
Good morning Laura! Time for coffee in Yuma, Arizona. You are my motivation to finish my Landscape rock today. I shoveled 750 lbs yesterday, just 250 lbs left to go!! You are my kind of Gal to get things done!! Love & Hugs đđ„°â€â€â€

My husband and I sit across each other at restaurants too, love you guys, thank you for everything
Aaron answered the question about security very eloquently. You guys had me laughing and crying in this one. The story about discipline.. so touching. Such a super special family!
For security Iâd put in a electric security gate you could give your workers the code. There are a lot of nut bags out there.
I vote for using the Highlights channel for anything random going on in you life.
I love that Aaron now has a camera and mic on him! Your conversational style works well, has a nice flow. Thanks for sharing! ~Cassandra
Honestly, your story about your Mom makes me respect her even more! What an awesome Mom...she obviously loved you so much to go to such an extreme.
Yaaay for Aaron in videos! Super cool, we love Aaron he's great!! Dream teamâ€ïž
Good morning GA family! Laura and Aaron, please upload the random project videos on the highlights channel. Just makes sense to keep things simple, even if itâs not garden related. Why make more work than necessary. I know no matter what you both decide, Iâll be watching.. lol
I ordered 10 gal boxwood for a customer. They were about your size. Youâre right they were about $200 each.
Yours look so amazing in those majestic pots. I agree simplicity is often the best
Love that Aaron is also in the video. Nice to see him when he comments instead of just a voice. Weâll done, you guys!
I really enjoy it when you throw in a cooking episode in the mix. Besides, the cooking, antiquing and crafts, I would enjoy watching your sewing projects. Thanks for the diversity, and not ALL planting. It is sometimes a nice break for you.
