Last night a friend of mine asked me "why are you dressed like you are in the '30s?" and another friend of mine answered "because he has style". I don't need to answer that anymore!
By the way, I started taking people staring at me as a compliment. Then I see their skinny, ripped pants... Definitely a compliment.
Someone called me a clown once and I immediately responded: "I'm the *mayor* of clown town and you're banned from the square."
I know this is 3 years late, but I love this comment. lol
I am a teen and enjoy classic menswear, I’ve become synonymous with being well dressed, I started off with just wearing polo shirts and chinos, then worked my way up and got dress shirts, a suit, ties, etc.
Nice dude
Someone told me that I was overdressed (I had started to wear a safari shirt with chinos and a tie during the summer as a sort of contemporary, elegant, military inspired look). My response was: "I actually had considered wearing my tuxedo tonight."
Nowadays everything is considered "overdressing" so I end up dressing however I want without caring about what others say
@@royaleuropemapping9306 Good plan. Sometimes people will ask me why I dress up when I can dress however I want. And I will tell them that if I can dress however I want, then what is wrong with dressing up?
@@keithmayhewhammond5357 exactly, nobody will question Harry styles' weird outfits so why question some fancy gentlemen?
And most importantly have a cane or a newsboy cap so if they keep on disrespecting you you can pull a peaky blinder on em
Beat em with the cane!!!
@@shakezmaybe3192 yes lad
Take his fucking eyes eh?
The added bonus is I actually need to cane because of my hips dislocating, but it also serves as a perfect weapon!
@@Melonlordrinrei absolute king right here
“ No one is born with a top hat.” My new favorite saying!! 🎩
While I wear vintage womenswear which is far more accepted, I've found lockdown has been great for transitioning out of wearing jeans and a t-shirt everyday. It allowed me to get comfortable in the clothing before I wore it outside and around others. Ultimately, you'll care less about what other people say if you feel comfortable in what you're wearing.
By the way the production value on this is amazing! I can't wait for the next video
totally agree production is outstanding
Wide trousers on men almost invites hostility (exaggeration) lol, while when ladies wear it people get it. When men wear them people assume they simply don't know that slim trousers exist, rather than they did so intentionally.
You are wearing confidence.
You look picture perfect in this environment. The clothes don't make the person, but if you wear them with confidence it will enhance your personality. Wear clothes that feel like an extension of yourself. And like always, you look exceptionally handsome. I wish I was there having an interesting conversation while strolling down those beautiful nature trails.
3:25 When my black neighbor asks me what color coat goes best with his trousers
Yesterday was the first time i wore my 3-piece brown tweed suit outside, while shopping. it felt odd for a few minutes because I could notice that everyone was watching me. But i actually enjoy it because most people seemed to see it quite positively :) Dont yet have the courge to rock up in something like that at my school though, haha ':)
Tweed in the summer? It must stay pretty cold where you are located.
@@ruvort1 I was sweating lol. I'm currently starting this hobby so I don't have any other Suits jet. As I also don't really have any shirts I had to wear this one when I went to buy new shirts to see how it looks. A linen suit or something comparable for the summer is definitely next on my shopping list haha :D
So die ersten Monate fühlte ich mich immer overdressed, aber mittlerweile denke ich einfach, dass die Muggles underdressed sind :)
It's interesting, before I started dressing vintage my style was very much Rooted in the Black metal Scene so confidence was never really an issue for me because I was used to people looking at me like I was weird.
Did you wear corpse paint on the regular? That definitely takes guts.
You can’t imagine how this video already helped me
Yes, it definetly takes a lot of courage and confidence to rock something a bit diferrent. But if you realy like it, you will keep your chin up and be proud of yourself.
I am a retired physician at age of 66 my daughter plonked a sewing machine on my lap as I was watching terrible mindless tv 3 years ago
I have been sewing nearly everyday since falling love with vintage clothing
to make I feel reborn with zest and joy
Even though I make a thousand mistakesI am becoming competent in making better mistakes
On the journey I meet you and discover such beauty knowledge and inspiration
I don’t know how long I have left on this planet but these are best times of my life so better go back to my virgin wool vest

Forget all that rubbish....How do we do that neat heel click at the end!
😂
@@Vintagebursche No for real, how DO we do that click?
Practice practice practice
@@amateoer Cold blooded determination and timing.
When I was in the Army it was a strip of metal, painted black, and glued to the inside of the heels. This gave a loud (sort of) click when putting your heels together, such as the "position of attention" or "rendering honors" (saluting the Flag) at or during ceremonies.
Thank you. As someone who owns suits from the 1940s and 50s and wants to wear them more, this video is just what I needed.
Beautifully filmed as well.
If thugs feel confident wearing ripped oversized old jeans which are sagging and showing their bottom and a white t shirt they bought at Walmart why shouldn’t we feel confident wearing our vintage or classical pieces, little by little friends step be step you’ll get the confidence you need, great video love this channel.
"..it is your life, your style, you are not a museum piece"......WOWWW!!!
Such a positive message isnt it! :)
Cool clip, nice location! Forget about "What will others think or say?" - find your own style and wear it. It is your life, it is short and boring already exists!
One of the greatest answers you can give is "because I like it." Nobody is going to argue with your honest opinion on clothing-they cannot possibly tell you that you don't actually like wearing a suit.
"Why do you wear a suit" is not a dumb question and I found that a genuine enthusiastic non-snarky answer like "it's my hobby!" gives the best results.
Excellent video, the hardest part is stepping out into the real world with that unconventional piece of clothing, then something magical happens.
Yeah I remember my journey. Wore baggy jeans and hoodies. Remembering getting my first pair of oxfords and chinos. It just felt so weird and felt like everyone was staring at me. It took some weeks to make it feel natural. Then I just progressed. It's crazy how it works, now a days I feel comfortable in suits just because I molded myself into it. It does take time and it should be step for step.
Great video.
Nice positive message. I don't dress "fancy" but differently enough that it will draw comments especially in a city office environment. So I have responses which are polished versions of the truth. I dress like my father and my grandfathers and it's comfortable and practical. Or when I turned 18 my grandmother bought me a hat just like this one, and I've worn one ever since (true, but I changed style of hat for a few years). We all have this in our past, and even if it has lapsed you can still re-embrace it. Most people respond positively to this message of having a connection to the past and I think some are even envious. Then there are just fun responses. Last year a taxi driver in Sydney asked me if I was from the country. Why do you ask? Because of the hat. But I act shocked and exclaim, I wore my city hat just so I would blend in (it was my city hat too). I like to think you nailed the ending first take! DAS
GREAT video as always. I have now since long ago stopped to care about other people's opinions. I started gradually by wearing a tie and later I started wearing jackets and suits. I also sport a cane now and then, it's great to be able to dress and live how you really want to.
I agree with all the points here regarding developing your own style. I remember the first time I wore a vintage hat (stingy brimmed fedora from Mayser) whilst walking down my high street: I was so self-conscious and didn't wear the the hat - it wore me! Now, I love getting the odd (or not so odd) glance my direction and I mostly have a 'why thank you, madam' or 'do you have any suggestions or alternatives to what I'm currently wearing' responses to comments about my jacket or hat or anything.
Thanks
Tony
This was really sweet altogether ☺️... and yet I couldn't help but scroll back to the first, meme-tastic witty reply 😂
The presentation is superb on this one! And helpful tips, too.
Couldn't agree more, a beautifully put together video
"you're not a piece in a museum" I loved that one, realistic and simple. : )
You've got a great house, btw
Oh, I wish that was my house.

Magnifico! Well done!! "Its your life, dress how you want to dress" I've started getting into the habit of trying to look my absolute best where ever i go simply because it makes me feel great about myself. I highly encourage anyone to start dressing better for self confidence.
Lol! Your clown response completely took me off guard! Hilarious 😂
I'm a vintage-liker (to say the least) somehow, this video was posted in my birthday, it could mean something I guess, I will start to "be myself" thanks for the awesome video, mate!
I loved the locations you chose for the background. Beautiful buildings and landscape. Also, I laughed out loud from 3:44-4:06. Hahahahaha.
Always a pleasure when Niklas uploads a new video!!
Great advice, esp writing down the compliments to remember when ppl are critical
The filming and soundtrack to this video were inspiring.Your best video yet IMO.
great outfit!
Absolutely dashing! I love the look!
Thank you! Great advice!
Great video and great suit worn with confidence
Thanks for making this motivational video!!
The beauty of old always amazes me.
Love this! Beautifully filmed and great advice! ♥️
Amazing video. Keep up the great work
Superb photos, nice job.
I actually have almost the exact same suit from Suitsupply as you are wearing here, only in a wool herringbone instead of linen. I was quite worried about the broad lapels on the jacket, but seeing you rocking the same big lapels gives me a lot of confidence!
Thank you for this.
Fantastic production ...I watched it many times .
Great video! I like the cinematic feel of it. Also your ensamble here is ever so lovely!
That was the one of a best video I have ever seen
I do appreciate you positive attitude. Well done.
This is a beautiful video.
Witty answers is a great idea!
OMG This is exacly the video I was looking for 😍😍😍 thank you sooooo mutch
Das Schloss Brühl ist so schön 😊 Super Video!
Damn bro, I just found this channel and it is so wholesome. Subscribed, keep up the good work man
ooooohh!!!! you are soooo nice :-) Absolutely a pleasure to watch you, listen to you, and enjoy your style! You are awesome!
Great video. Really nice to be reminded that there are other people out there who wear vintage menswear. Love your videos!
Great video, many of the points you cover can be applied to other things and so this video is really good for anyone who perhaps has been teased or bullied for being a bit different. Well done Vintagebursche for show us that we can dress how we wish too and live our lives in our own style and not feel the need to follow like sheep. Stunning filming location as well, very well suited to your outfit! I have added this one to my "list" of places to visit when I come to Germany again!
Thank you for the marvelous, helpful and informative video. I was truly inspired by it. I have become slack in my vintage wear but now i will pick it up again. Thank you for increasing my confidence as well. You are a great help. Excellent ending!
Mr.Vintagebursche , YOU LOOK BEAUTIFUL !!!
I wear many vintage trouser and jacket items but rarely a full suit. I also wear felt hats. I have had maybe three compliments /questions from men about my hats (most commonly 'what type of hat is that?'... most of mine are Akubra, one Hückel). I do not wear pocket squares or suspenders/braces. Without those extras I do not really stand out. Also, I alter all my own stuff so that it fits perfectly. If your clothes does not fit well, that probably catches people's eye more than the fact it may be vintage. Anyway here in Melbourne most people do not really seem to notice or care, so I rarely feel odd wearing this stuff. But, my main piece of advice is *"carry yourself like you are wearing the item, not as if it is wearing you"*. Think like that and you'll feel confident and if you feel confident you'll look good.
One of the best motivational video in classic menswear, thanks !
You are a fine gentleman! My boyfriend rocks vintage inspired style and it gives me inspiration to wear clothes that might stand from the crowd but make me feel confident too.
beautiful background for the explanations
Absolutely love this- so dramatic! ^_^
I'm new to vintage menswear, and a little rusty with my German. But I really love your channel. This video was perfect!
Thank you for this video. You mentioned that one can get eaten up by negativity and that is what happened to me. Instagram and the compliments and encouragement I get really helps me develop my own style and feel confident about being THAT ONE foreign guy that dresses nice. Looking forward to more of your videos!
Develop witty answers to dumb questions.... It's just great life advice in general...great video, sir.
@Vintagebursche The music really boosts your message - very well chosen. It is important not to look down on "muggles" though. It is all about live and let live. The more tolerant you are yourself, the more self-confidence you develop. And as always, humor is everything - which you fortunately possess! :)
But first of all, it's a way of thinking!
best video yet!
I love this channel and really enjoy gentlemen in wonderful clothes. My husband doesn’t have the opportunity to wear this nice outfits at the moment because of his uniform but even in uniform people remark from all over the world that he reminds them of a Hollywood actor. It’s all about confidence and enjoying your look. 💖
Love the Thumbnail!
Great video. Loved it
Wow. Awesome guy. 100% right. 👍👍
This video inspired me alot because I was afraid of people's opinions. Now I have the full confidence , because , you inspired me that its not wrong to be the odd one in your community. Thank you.
Feels great to go out your comfort zone, I've yet to receive negative comments on my vintage style, only kind ones. I believe the best way to overcome the fear is to just not care what people think, just enjoy being different.
Really, you publish great content. Like many people from different parts of the world, I am a person who lives in Azerbaijan and is interested in classical clothing. Thanks for your useful posts. Greetings from Azerbaijan. Good luck :)
Vielen Dank für dieses wunderbare Video, hiermit haben Sie es geschafft das ich mich in nichteinmal 4:43min selbst-bewusster fühle...dieser Kanal hat mein Leben verändert! Danke, danke, danke!
Wunderschönes Video, wirklich sehr inspirierend.
Perfect video and wearing 🎈

Develop witty answers to dumb questions.
That's a lesson for life 😉🧡
The final jump look like fred astaire haha, amazing video as we all love to see what it looks outside during this boring time
I thought he emulated Charlie Chaplin.
Amazing video my friend, from Portugal, congratulations!
while i REALLY wanna wear older vintage clothing, i would like to have a good reason to other than going out to a shop or two for five minutes, however i have a 1929 car and once the DMV lets me drive it, you'd better believe i'm going to dress for the occasion!
Very supportive recommendations by someone who's been there, combined with beautiful scenery=another superb video. Witty answers to dumb questions? I already have a repertoire because I don't suffer fools gladly. My favorite (for negative comments): "What's going on with you that you need to make such (negative, rude, hurtful) comments? This tosses the question right back where it belongs-on them. Another one "Didn't your mother ever teach you that if you can't say something positive don't say anything at all" or "I invite you to call someone who actually cares what you think" or "Better to keep silent and be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt". and then just walk away. So affirming to really not care too much what other people think; it's a journey and a practice to be free of society's sartorial constraints.
Excellent advice, humorously delivered, beautiful location. well produced video. I noticed one of your middle vest (or waistcoat) buttons was undone throughout the video. Was that intentional to tie in to the last piece of advice "don't take yourself too seriously"? Keep up the great work.
We live in a time of forced casual……especially for a man……as a UK resident London really is the only safe place to dress as you choose, the further north you travel the greater the risk you will be taking of exposing yourself to ridicule and even physical attack (as in my case in Glasgow}…but I refuse to give in to dull t shirts and torn jeans…….be true to yourself folks, larger than life is just the right size!
Sehr schönes Video 😀
Great video in one of my favorite spots in Germany! Got any tips for getting the most out of Suitsupply? I’ve been going in for their custom made service.
Love the video, made me laugh with your replies. “Why don’t you?” I work in construction 🦺, and I wanna wear a suit, I operate heavy machinery. But I wanna wear one regardless.
sehr schön
I began my way just wearing a tie every day at work...
Step by step 😉
@@Vintagebursche yep. It was like four months ago. Now I have three new vintage suits, several waistcoats, etc...
As a fairly young teenager getting into the realm of vintage classic menswear, I do receive a lot of looks from fellow students and other people. I'm not the most creative with words, but I will definitely try to now. I must say, those witty comebacks really throw them off! And why not dress up, right? Modern attire is rather boring, in my opinion.
