I’ve been trying to make a manga ever since the 7th grade (now in the 9th) and after many stories that never went anywhere. From one shot to long running stories. I found one that I really like and care about. Your channel has been very inspirational and a help thanks for creating this channel and keep up the amazing work
That’s amazing to hear! We’re really excited for you. Hope you give us an update!
@@aphlearntodrawmanga
I will as soon as I’m done with the writing phase. Cause I’ve been trap in the phase for two year 🥲
@@aphlearntodrawmangabut didn't you said in live video that you will only take people 18+

My guess is to use the comment sections to update them
I’m in 7th grade and I’m trying to draw manga currently 😂
I’ve been drawing since I was really young and went back to my dream as a manga artist after years of being a nurse. This really helps a lot. Thank you.❤
The best way to learn to make manga is to start making manga.
Exactly!
thank you so much for making these videos, I have learnt so much and got inspired from this channel!!
You are so welcome! I’m glad to hear we inspire you. 🤗
Traditional art is the best. Perfection and talent.
explain “traditional” art, everyone’s just throwing words around without realizing what they mean..
@@a_cat1234 do u even draw?
Im only half way through this Video but already feel overwhelmed and the pressure…no wonder many of us out there get scared Even before getting started and keep on dreaming. I guess im just not cut out for this to make it Professional, guess im just gonna go on drawing for myself then 🫠 My Respect for all of you out there who are willing to make the commitment!! ❤
We all get scared and pressured when trying to start out. I can't count how many times I felt like giving up because I felt like I got nowhere and kept drafting on different stories. However, the endurance you maintain while feeling this way will lead you to go beyond and reach the pro ledges.
Hope this helps, cuz I'm doing the same to go pro.
OMG! I have been trying to draw anime for like ever and put lots of effort into it. This help so much thank u 😁😅
Very well explained! Thank you~
this helped alot thx!
Super helpful to get a good overview on the stages! I'm planning to draw a story in the future and currently redrawing my characters from all angles. It's difficult to find a design that's easy to replicate in the drawing process that still looks interesting. Also a very good idea to test myself with drawing one part of the story on a limited set of pages! Will definitely try it before actually starting to draw! Thank you for sharing all the information!
Sure! Our PRO Mangaka Mentors Rena Saiya and Nao Yazawa recommend putting your character design right in front of you when you draw them again.
It helps you stay consistent drawing your character again.
this is literally the perfect channel for me
Your channel is the best and has helped me a lot in progressing
I've wanted to create an original story for a long time now and I think manga is the way I want to tell it. Thank you for describing the process. All of these tips are very helpful!
Sure, you’re welcome! Good luck on your manga. 😊
Thank you ive always wanted to make mangas and i will sub and watch your videos
i kinda want to do the consultation call thingy but i'm busy working on a manga commission which so far i've finished 13 pages of the first chapter which all up is 28 pages i do around 2-4 pages everyday and i've worked on this project for about 2 weeks the first week was planning and the second week which i'm still on is just making the pages
Thank you for the help i have been thinking about making my own manga but I don't know how to draw but I can create a story easily
I'm in 6th and my story is going smooth now to storyboarding!
Just a little while ago was thinking of making my own manga n here I am, got a little story to start with but need to work on my drawing, I am not good at it at all
I didn't know exactly how I would share my ideas before but now I am more serious about this
I don't even want to make a story professionally, I just wanna make a world, make characters, and make it in manga-like style of story for myself and maybe friends if i ever get confident enough 😭😭
Before even starting this video, I know as a fact that this whole manga drawing thing will feel like:
"Step one, be a jack of all trades artist.
Step two, know everything about real life. (geography, architecture, history, society, economy ect.)
Step three, be a professional character designer that can make an entire character based just off of a literal walnut and everyone will immediately love.
Step four, know everything about psychology so you know how to influence readers the way you want and make realistic characters.
Step five, be a professional writer that will instantly make any reader be completely immersed in the story
Step six, be a professional at not dying of stress
Done! 😊"
What's the point of coming here then?just to comment?
@@Fucking_around_and_finding_out yes? Stupit. Obviously 🤨
Someday I want to publish a manga/comic and share it with the world. It’s on my bucket list which is quite long! But I think I can do it. I’ll build healthy habits and start working on things young! Good luck to anyone who’s aspiring to become a Mangaka!!! 😁
I’ve been trying to get back to drawing on a tablet, but I’ve been struggling to stay motivated, and all I’ve been doing is headshots, and doing body shots get cut off because I always draw them over the canvas limit. I don’t think I can do this without someone instructing me over the shoulder.
Since you draw digitally, when you get off canvas, you can try to select your drawing and resize it / move it around to get if to fit.
You could also do a very rough stickman like sketch and place/resize it on your canvas before your proper drawing, to know how big it needs to be (since resizing a drawing after its done like the first option I gave you can give you trouble with line width consistency and details when drawing the rest of the body).
Keep up !
I you want to make manga eventually, I advise you to start with a 4 or 5 page story, contrary to the 16pages recomended it this video. Finishing a bunch of short stories is a good way to progress (since you get to debrief more frequently) and also to fell good about your work (since you get to have more complete stories!)
the normal way/traditional way of making manga honestly feel better because it just look like natural
I’m actually creating a webcomic, but it’s the same basic principle as a one-shot manga, which makes it technically like a one-shot webcomic.
It’s meant to be like an isekai/harem manga with monster girls, but set in space.
Often, I get my spaceship designs compared to the ones from Guardians of the Galaxy, which is good because I love the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Does that make sense?
That’s awesome! Sounds like you’re on the right track. ☺️
10:00 This question needs more context. In my opinion, without context, it depends on which is the focus character here, if the man was seen first, it would be implied the man is very unlucky. On the other hand, if the boy was seen first, it would be implied the boy is irresponsible. It could be both A or B depending on what message you want to convey in this panel.
Commented this before I saw the answer btw
I'm. Going to become a good mangaka l like your videos
For sure! 🙌

But where to upload the manga after you done with it? How to share it with people?
On paper, I knew a good chunk of this. Like the hundreds of people who’ve watched this video, I too would like to publish a manga one shot at least in my life. But watching it and actually sitting down with the mentality of “ok, what am I missing?”
And god I am still a very very long way to go-
To begin with, I did have a genre: magical girl/mahou shoujo. The thing is, nowadays most magical girls are either they’re directly targeted towards very young children or are that dark. And I want a mix of both: the casual kinda slice of life but also showcasing growth of characters while mixing very dark stuff. At least, the rest is already settled in the writing aspect, I guess it’s mostly what I focused myself on. The rest… blank.
I managed to make a one shot for a 5 max page story, fully written. And it was hard-. But eventually, made it- somehow-. It was a very manga inspired story, that’s mostly why I’m telling it here. And honestly, to draw it… damn.
I really hope i can get around it somehow, someday. After all, I’ve been working on that one magical girl story for 4 years now. Either way, I’ll still keep on trying my best TvT99
Sounds like a very interesting idea with a lot of work and love put into it! 😀
What’s the biggest factor stopping you from finally drawing it out?
I have “x3. Honestly, I’m not really sure. Maybe I’m just scared or lazy, I don’t know. I know I need to have that talk with myself if I really want to do this. But I really want to overcome whatever it may be@@aphlearntodrawmanga
This sounds like an amazing idea, you need to keep working on it I’m sure you can do it!
My manga concept is similar to yours! Currently it's still in its planning stages and a lot of the inspiration comes from tokusatsu TV series like Kamen Rider or Super Sentai.
From your experience, do you have any tips you could give to anyone who would be in the same ballpark?
Well,In bangladesh we read from left to right. Thus comic as well, thats why storyboard b seemed natural for me.And also Iam gonna try the left to right as we bangladeshi tend to read from left to right.
Go for it, you know thai manga does that, if your artwork your story is good people wouldn't mind reading left to right
What is meeting if I did sign in
I have made a one shot & published on mangaplus 😊
name ?
1:45 see that’s why I’m going to write a light novel💀 so that way I only have to draw one good picture every few chapters and update this like once a year or every 6 months a single book might only contain 4-6 pictures I can handle that I can’t do every page Bro😭
💖
Great video is was there for the stream and I also want to create a manga but for now I’m focusing on the fundamentals of drawing
Thank you so much for watching our content! Sounds like you have a game plan.
What kind of drawing fundamentals are you working on now?

does manga have to be black and white am using tablet

I really want to start my own manga series. Something good enough to be on par with popular series like DragonBall, naruto, one piece, and jujutsu kaisen. Only thing is that im a bit iffy about moving to japan, its a completely new county, and i know 0 japanese.

Is it necessary to write the dialogues in Japanese for Kyoto international creators award please tell me
4:32 just to let you know, Skip and Loafer is a seinen.
Otherwise, good video.
Could you name some manga one shots that have only 20 pages? I want to get a hint of how it is structured.
You could check out some entries from Silent Manga Audition and other manga contest entries to get an idea. :)
13:07 crazy how that all gets burned away in an anime I couldn’t do it😭
Been trying since 2010 I got my first page done today lol😂 better late than never I guess
Progress!!
@@rowantic6539 now I have ten pages done, about to post a sneak peek of the first six pages. I can’t wait😊
12:04 it’s the promised neverland! Right? Right!
Can manga be a story then some drawings at the bottem each page?
nah
The problem with the oneshot is there isn't a clear to how extent of thee story should we reveal which will attract people and not spoil the storyy
I am delusional I am just doing whatever for a long run story but like it’s a one person team so it will take ages 😂 like a Netflix seasonal stuff and I just aim for my local book market since comic isn’t an industry here on panama it doesn’t have to be perfect or compete to industry level manga I just want to create and be happy I have a stem career to apply to “office job” anyways 🤣
I have drawn my own comics/mangas since 5 year old since i have always had very creative mind, the problem was always my art skills, but now i feel like i could make pretty good manga, but i would need someone to puplich it for me since im 13 XD
iam trying to make an anime too :) i have a discord server with people (that can draw, voice and others things for anime) do you want to join the server ? for you can draw or make the story or do anything you want for the anime
I want to make a manga but I am only 12 and have no one to help with me so is it possible for me to do it alone
random set up: art liner, pencil, sharpener, eraser
better set up 🤓:dip pen, ink, that random blue pencil that eraser forgot the name lol, led for blue pencil
Can i pls use your some sketch i can give them a makeover
I want to make my own first manga. And i think i have a good story too. But the problem is I'm not at all good at drawing 😢.... I think there is no hope for me . Huh
I think there is! Most famous mangakas didn't start off with amazing art skills. And look and ONE the creator of mob psycho. He didn't have the best art skills but mob psycho became extremely popular because the story was so good! I think you should go for it 💪
Yeah the same goes to other manga cretors like the creator of attack on titan end if you still have a problem with drawing dont give up you can still learn how to draw or find an ilustraitor to draw for you there are many was to fix that problem end giving up is not the best choice
No, if the story is good it'll create this amazing unique story you don't need good looking stuff but don't overlook the technical stuff like panelling.
Could you make a video about making a manga as a duo
I WANNA DO A DUO
Cause i suck at writing
And if i work with someone I could do the drawing and someone else can do the writing (so much easier)

What if one wants to draw in different demographics?
What do you mean?
@@aphlearntodrawmanga like a manga for both josei and Shoujo. Doesn’t that happen? Sorry, I'm not very knowledgeable.
Will you be covering the digital aspect?
What do you mean? What digital aspect are you talking about?
@@aphlearntodrawmanga Such as making the manga using digital methods in place of traditional.
Maybe. There are already a lot of tutorials on how to use tablets and do digital art though.
As long as you can apply the fundamentals to your digital art like basic drawing, lineart weight, etc, you’re good. :)
a Mangaka doesn't have "Audience" it has "Reader" because you don't hear a manga you watched and readed. great video
How old do you have to be to enter?
Our Oneshot Manga Drawing Program you mean? At least 18 years old.
I don’t need tropes, they’ve been growing to be lame. I’ll make my own tropes.
ez
The link doesn’t load
Could you try again?
6:08 as a man I will be writing men👹
Page size
What page size are you talking about?
@@aphlearntodrawmanga hmm. I forget. This comment is incomplete. Sorry. I don't think I meant to leave it here. But since we're here and there's a response, let me ask, if I recall... So when an artist of manga is drawing another page, what is the Page Size that is actually worked upon, before it's shrunken and published? Like for American super hero comics, it's an 11x17inch page, however after margins are applied, the work space is truly like 9x14 inches.
But what are the chances of winning these competitions
Don't want my effort to go to waste 😢
Why do you want to join these competitions?
Only just to win?
Why would you call it a waste of effort to join and actually experience making a finished manga?
Does the fact that a mangaka doesn't speak Japanese and doesn't live in Japan affect the probability of manga success.
It depends on your goals. What do you actually wanna happen?
@@aphlearntodrawmanga Maybe in terms of like a manga getting an anime adaptation, or a manga actually being recognized by a big anime or manga company.
Sorry If I am wrong but your thumbnail kinda looked like draw like a sir
Our thumbnail art is from PRO Manga Artist Nao Yazawa. (She’s also the illustrator for the shoujo anime Wedding Peach) ☺️

Random question regarding target Audience: Lets say I wish to make a stoey that's readable by anyone regardless of sex. What is that called?
(I usually try to make my stories this way.)
A recipe for failure
Kidding! (Kinda)
But seriously, you have to pick a target audience. There are just elements and themes associated with each demographic.
It doesn’t mean that other people can’t read it though.
Ex. Naruto is shonen but people across all ages and genders still love it.
Too bad tokyopop is out, basically means foreingers cant publish.
