Thanks for starting from the beginning. I have no clue how to sew anything. Now that my confidence is boosted by at least being able to thread a needle, I'm going to watch the rest of your videos. Hopefully I'll be able to sew a button on pants by the end of the week!

I use that technique but I hold the eye of the needle directly over the pinched loop and roll my finger and thumb to release the thread slowly. That seems to work with any sized eye. It keeps the loop tight as it passes through. Your right though, it takes practice. But if people learn good techniques like this one, they will learn so much faster and will enjoy it a lot more.

as a guy i love knowing how to do this cuz you NEVER know when this might come in handy
or even potentially save a life (with stitches or whatever)
my gma was in a sewing club for many decades, she could do ALL sorts of patterns with a
needle and thread, crochet, and those round wood things where you thread different colors
to make a picture (idk what they're called)
but i'm working on fixing one of my FAVORITE pairs of swear pants and YES i know it'll cause
it to pull together and "look weird" but they're sweat pants... black thread on black pants, and
stitched up will look TONS better than skin peeping through tears and burn marks..
only thing i semi forgot is how to end the line (or amount of thread i have) comes to me at
the very end out of nowhere.
its like makin a loop and going in circles around it with the needle to make the knot. preferably
on the inside. i used to just make a double knot and burn off excess lol.
