- Laenor Velaryon faking his death rather than being killed in House Of The Dragon season 1 is one of the biggest changes from the book and one that will have a impact during season 2 when it comes to the story of one of the dragonseeds Addam Of Hull. Namely how can Addam claim Laenors dragon if Laenor is still alive. Many speculate Addam will be cut and Laenor will take his place in the show. So lets brake it down and see what Addam and Laenor's roles could be in season 2 of house of the dragon.
How Laenor being alive impacts Addam Of Hull's role in season 2 of House Of The Dragon | Speculation
The Dance Of The Dragons will be the focus of the plot of the new HBO spin-off House Of The Dragon coming in 2022. So if you want to learn the story before we see HBO's take on it then this will be a very long-running series. Game Of Thrones / House of the dragon are HBO shows based on George R R Martin's A Song Of Ice And Fire series. The information in this video comes from the books a world of ice and fire as well as fire and blood.

Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen was trapped on Dragonstone by her brother King Aegon ii with no way to escape her fate. What was to come was the final showdown between the two main players of the dance of the dragons and bring the war into its final phase. The House of the dragon was crumbling and the events that was about to follow would only cause more damage to both sides of the war.

I was afraid they were combining Addam and Alyn into a single character. It wouldn't be the worst thing ever, but I would definitely prefer two.
I like the idea of him being involved in the Triarchy’s kidnapping of Viserys. I could see him saving Aegon but getting shot in the process so like Stormcloud he makes it back to Dragonstone but dies soon after, maybe after one last bit of closure with Rhaenyra. This would make her angry seeing a random bastard claiming Seasmoke immediately after Laenor finally came through for her.
Thats good but addam fought at the gullet on seasmoke
@@brayden8193 that’s what I’m saying he could replace Addam up until that point
@@kevinneutzling8267
Or even better, Laenor came to rescue Aegon Dragonsbane without Seasmoke. He and his lover just goes Leeroy Jenkins on the pirates.
That’s not happening . Aegon is being sent to the Vale with Rhaena in season 2, and there’s been speculation that his whole involvement with being sent to essos is not going to happen in the show . It’s because the show aged down Aegon and Viserys, in the books they’re around 10 at this time but in the show they’re very young . There are laws against doing scenes with stunts involving children of that age . I think what they might do is scrap Aegon going to essos with Viserys and have him sent to the eyrie instead . Viserys will go to essos on the gay abandon but the ship gets intercepted by the triarchy and the battle of the gullet happens, Jacearys tries to go rescue Viserys but dies in the battle and Viserys is presumed dead. That whole battle won’t happen until season 3 though
Another thing I would like to highlight. If Laenor comes back that automatically annuls Rhaenyra’s marriage to Daemon making Aegon and Viserys also bastards. The Black faction is really a mess tbh.
All of Rhaenyra’s children are bastards.
The saving of Aegon and viserys is a brilliant concept actually I’m now really hoping it’s that.
I'd bet the Laenor does dies getting Aegon onto Stormcloud, and trusts Qarl to get Visrys to safety. Barring that happening, Laenor could end up being the contact with Adam claiming a wild dragon that bares a resemblance to Seasmoke, as opposed to Seasmoke herself.
Him being alive also makes rhaenyra and Daemon's marriage illegitimate making aegon and viserys bastards. This will only further justify greens claim to the iron throne.
Him being able to bond with a Dragon is confusing because Corlys doesnt have Dragon Rider blood and Lainor was gay so its hard to choose whos the dad.
Corlys is their father
I like the idea him dying defending Aegon 3 from the Triarchy and letting Viserys 2 get capture. But on a good note we do got are Daeron 2 cast so all fear of him being cut out is gone.
This is a good take, it’d be nice to see it play out in Season 2!
First to take the Black 🖤
Seasmoke is the best dragon!!! As of now, I still think Laenor surviving is a very poor choice. I can see them using him as Black Trombo or some sellsword but I just don’t see anything they do really hitting with narrative impact
World of Westeros, my theory is that Addam actually is Laenor's son, but that Alyn is the son of Corlys Velaryon. At first I thought it was a far fetched theory when I first heard about it, but when you look at the timeline in the books, I think it makes a lot of sense. Corlys is a proud man who is obsessed with his family lineage. There is no doubt he loved the Strong boys and recognized them as Velaryons for the sake of honor and prestige, but we also have to remember how quick he was to place Addam and Alyn as his heirs after Jacaerys died. Honestly, that action to me, proves that Corlys was looking for an excuse to replace the Strong boys as heirs to Driftmark (even though he likely would've been fine with Lucerys inheriting as he was marrying Rhaena) with children of his unquestioned MALE lineage. Joffrey Lonmouth died in 114 AC, and Addam Velaryon was coincidentally born in that year, a year in which Laenor was not only heavily grieving his lover's death, but would've been on Driftmark because of his preference for staying there during his marriage to Rhaenyra. I think its possible that Corlys sent Marilda (who was either his lover at the time or someone who was close to him) or she went to Laenor to comfort him and became pregnant with his child. In the show it is said Laenor tried with Rhaenyra but nothing came from the few times they tried, but it shows he is capable of sex with a woman (frankly even if he is gay, doesn't mean he can't have a kid, plenty of gay men have managed to have kids with women in the traditional sense) and thus could possible be Laenor's child. After all, Corlys in the show is shown to believe Laenor is quite capable of being with a woman, so its possible he sent Marilda to comfort him, and what resulted was a happy coincidence which would become his primary heir in the future and thus security for the MALE line of his family. I think afterward Corlys and Marilda became even closer, if they weren't already, and their relationship resulted in Alyn's birth, a second secret heir, but also a reminder that Corlys needed to make sure he had no more bastard sons or grandsons (he has the heir and a spare with Addam and Alyn as well) and likely ended or just made his relationship with Marilda didn't result with more children so that in case Rhaenys found out, it wouldn't shame her further to know her husband had more bastards with a commonborn girl.
I like this theory. Might explain why alyn tried so desperately but failed for a dragon and yet Adam succeeded with relative ease
To add to it: Addam was able to claim a dragon, yet Alyn wasn’t. It is proved through Rhaenys that the ability to ride dragons is passed through parent to child, yet as is shown with Quentyn Martell, the blood will dilute. We do not know of any Targaryen marrying into and propagating the house of Velaryon, until we hit Baela and Alyn. This would mean that Corlys’ blood was probably diluted enough to disqualify his line, but a dragonriders child would still have the spark.
I kinda like this idea, it fixes a lot of hole in the idea that both are ether corlys or laenors, i'm defiantly going to do some more research on this because it really does make sense
Honestly I think people are overthinking it. I think the writers just wanted to avoid doing the awkward “bury your gays” trope twice within a short span of time after having already done it with Ser Joffrey. And the bond might simply fade because he abandoned Seasmoke, there’s nothing to say it can’t work like that as it’s never happened before.
Dragons only have one rider though, they can only take a new Rider once the previous one is dead. One of the Rhaenyra's Sons literally dies because he tries to ride Syrax. So that would just be stupid having one Dragon reject a rider and having another one accept it it just ruins the rules.
@@viancarobinson4847 Not really, no rider has abandoned their dragon before, so it’s not ruining the rules if that also leads the bond to fade. And little Joffrey tried with Rhaenyra’s dragon who very much was still with her.
Leaks show Addam as a separate character. I think any idea of combing the two or continuing to keep Leanor alive is just bad writing. He serves no other plot purpose but makes a mess of the Dragonseeds arc. It's like the killing of Joff during the wedding for shock value is some D&D type stuff we don't need.
It could be that Laenor was kept alive to send the train Adam ans Allen to bond with dragons but in disguise.
I really didn't like Laenor surviving if only that surely Seasmoke would have followed him? So okay, give him a "heroic" death...somehow.
I am saying this as a gay man, they didn’t kill laenor because they wanted to avoid the negative PR from burying the gay trope. Laenor simply won’t appear again.
Corlys will be heading down the Narrow Sea to form a closure. When he stops at Hull he meets a ship builder, she has two son's Addam and Alyn. After sometime together Addam admits he thought Corlys was his father since his mother told him his father was a Velaryon. Corlys then realizes that Leanor is still alive. Corlys confronts Rhaenyra about Laenor and she admits he wasn't killed that night. After sometime Addam bonds with Seasmoke, that's when they realize something happened to Laenor.
Second to take the black🖤
🖤
I think he will return after his mom's death as Adam
I think Laenor only because even though he’s gay he did say to Rhaenyra that he did try to sleep with women so it’s very possible that he has children out there
my favorite scenario is laenor dying trying to save jace after vermax gets hit but ultimately they both get shot down by the purple haired tyroshi
Honestly I loved HOTD, but I hate that Laenor is alive because it just ruins the dragonseed storyline to me. I'm also not pleased either way with the race change, but I'm sure the actors will be good.
God you people are pathetic enough with the race change shit it’s been forever
Wait woah. Not pleased with the race change? It doesn’t have much of an impact at all to the overall story. Some characters skin color is important but when it comes to Velaryons it really does not matter.
@BackyardStudios25 I just prefer book accurate lore. I know it was down as an homage to Martin's original idea and Martin himself thought it was a great idea. But changing character's from how they are established in lore is just something that's always bothered me. The Velaryons are my favorite family and I like the actors, it's just in this day and age where everyone is doing all this weird appeasement stuff just for racial representation is to me very stupid. They should just pick the actors who are best for the role regardless of color instead of having it as "We will pick the best actors for this role, but only if they are white or black" it's just ridiculous to me. Like I said, I am certain once season 2 is out I'm gonna like whoever is Addam and Alyn, just how I liked Corlys and Laenor, I'm just still bugged by the reasoning behind race change just for the sake of inclusion. I am happy overall with the show though and my only real concerns are just some story changes from the book.
@@BackyardStudios25 yes it is VERY important. Who is Jaeharys the First mother? Who is Aegon the Conqueror mother? The show talks about Aegon and had Jaeharys in the beginning apparently. If they wanted to use the panderstone and make the Velaryons black...then the Targaryens HAVE to be black. And now in that fanfiction universe, there are 2 black Targaryen Kings and Daemon Blackfyre is black.
There’s pictures of Adam he’s been casted for season 2
I'm confused if addam of hull can claim seasmoke then would'nt he be laenor's son because corlys doesn't have the Targaryen blood even if house Velaryon was from valyria only house Targaryen and thoses with the blood of the dragon could ride dragons. Also correct me if I'm wrong but if they were from Valyria then where are their dragon eggs?
4th to take the Black 🖤
🖤
And now our watch begins
Vaemond spoke with such conviction against Rhaenyra's children and values blood purity so highly that it seems to me that he may not be the kind of man to father bastards (At least openly). Laenor is gay so no for him, fingers should point towards Corlys I think!
I think HE might be Addam of hull as it stated that the bastards are from Corlys so maybe they have him come back
I dont mind it in itself. I think it was part of an effort to clear Rhaenyra and Daemon of more villainous behavior, but overall it's whatever. Yes it shouldve stayed accurate to the books imo, but what we have can easily mesh.
They have to go all in with him being Alyn at this point.
So does that mean we get the battle of the gullet in season 2.
I thought they moved it to season 3
Ive been thinkin visaryes and shara both road balarion with a death between tham
Loyal
If leanor does return and claims seasmoke again maybe addam claims a different dragon but either way it’s a messy story
Third to take the Black🖤
🖤
Hugh hammer and will the sot Veamonds bastards would be better narrative, hense the reasonfor switch sides
Oh, there's several routes this can take the plot, at least in my eyes.
It appears obvious he'll die for Addam to claim Seasmoke.
- Laenor will masquerade as Addam of hull, highly unlikely for obvious reasons stated in the video, but in game of thrones, you never know what bs can be pulled.
- Either Addam or Alyn will kill him to claim Seasmoke, it'd be some Dorne twist bs in its sheer abruptness and lack of buildup, so I hope it won't happen.
- Laenor will be killed by Daemon in secrecy, just to he won't cause trouble for his own marriage, or join the greens with his dragon.
- Laenor will be instrumental in Jacaerys and Joffrey's developments in the future, likely by being a good father and rolemodel to them over Daemon. Jacaerys is headed for Winterfell, and could encounter Laenor along the way, either in Gulltown or Whiteharbor while he's resting his dragon and being shown around the area. Runestone is also an option, as it'd make sense for Rhaenys to at least try and mend fences with ther Royces after Daemon's "divorce" from Rhea Royce and attempt to claim their lands. Especially necessary since the Royces fight for the blacks later.
100% believe alyn & addam are corlys’ kids
Read the book 📚 but couldn’t remember the details anymore. What’s the significance of 😂Adam of hull? 😢
Ether Corlys or Laenors bastard son, does some important stuff during the war,
Can a dragon be rode if it’s rider is still alive?
lot of people speculate no, but it would not surprise me if the show did go down that road
@@WorldOfWesteros yeah especially if they suggest sibling or offspring.
I don't understand why it's so hard to stick to the books, why make changes that creates problems and it's seen as illogical just because they want a woman badass moment like Daenerys and making Rhaenyra less cruel and more like a victim when in the books she was like a teenager and irresponsible.
Or making laenor being alive just because when it's a COMPLETE UNNECESSARY CHANGE.
They're making the same mistakes as GOT
Thank you😂😂😂
They wont be bothered in casting an adam of hull and will just recall laenor to fill his role. Very cringe.
They should have stuck to the script and killed off Laenor….it just confuses things….what’s the motivation for keeping the character alive?!?! 🌈
Of course it ruins it for you 😃
I think the boys are much more likely Corlys’s sons rather than Laenor’s. Weren’t Addam and jace born in the same year? And Luke and Alyn too? It would seem to me that if Laenor were interested in women at the time….Corlys is likely trying to preserve his honor while shifting the shame onto his dead son.
But that doesn't make sense though, Corlys isn't a dragon rider so how could he produce dragon riders if he is not one himself. The only reason why Laena and Laenor can ride dragons is because their mother Rhaenys herself is a dragon rider. Someone once theorized that Corlys probably forced Laenor to sleep with a woman which resulted in children. Corlys was never okay with Laenor's sexuality so it would make more sense.
If he just dies so soon after surviving so someone else can claim a dragon it makes the whole thing pointless filler. That would legitimately be one of the most disappointing things they could do in season 2
I thought that the show was sticking to the fact that only Targaryen’s can claim a dragon!! so having a non-Targaryen bastard claim a dragon is confusing. Leonor and his sister are the only non Targaryen’s (last name but the have the blood) that have dragons… In the show.
Laenor and Laena's mother is a Targaryen, that's why they can ride dragons. Both of Laena's and Damon's daughters can ride dragons as well. Laenor has two bastard Sons who can also ride dragons. Everyone I just mentioned has a Targaryen relative which is why they can ride dragons.
Silly man Leonor and his sister are half Targaryen and Valerian
