I saw them live in Seattle back in the day 1982..I was in a band myself and we met Kelly Johnson and Denise mc. At their record signing at tower records..introduced ourselves as fellow girl heavy metal musicians and they were the sweetest kindest loviest girls..we ended up at their show and had a roaring drunken party after the gig..we then saw them again when we were touring England and Germany in 1984..I was always so impressed with Kelly’s guitar playing..she was girlschool..her cool and ripping riffs really pulled their sound together..as the others were not as fine a musician as Kelly was. I was gutted when I found out she was ill with spinal cancer and when she finally died in 2007..I’m still sad..looking at these girlschool videos bring back that era for me in huge way..it was a time of women pushing rock n roll and being successful pro musicians..we paved the way for everyone coming after us. Girlschool belong in RR HALL OF FAME.. nice nice wonderful fun gals...
The attitude of fans today towards women in bands is thankfully a LOT different than in the 1980s, and Girlschool are one of the primary reasons for that change in attitude. I always listened for the musicianship, and that was something Girlschool had plenty of, and more to spare.
Wow! Heard Please Dont Touch 35 years ago, but this is way better, superb riff. Some great influences, can hear Pistols, Maiden, Lizzy, maybe Priest and yeh a bit of Motorhead. Nice one ladies. 👍🤟🤟
In my honest opinion, there is not a greater female-fronted band in the history of rock and roll then the ladies in girlschool. I have been a fan since 1980 when I was 13 and now I'm 55 and I listened to them every chance I get
Girlschool was known outside of the U.K. I was buying their vinyls back in the early 80s in Minneapolis, MN, USA - don't recall how I discovered them but I was very young and SO impressed. Inspired me to take up guitar lessons (I stunk). But agree - one of the most underappreciated bands of all time. Wish I coulda seen them live when Kelly was still with us.
I Saw girlschool in Marseille with Motorhead 35 years ago it was geniius Very beautiful girls and good players They are still the better women hard Rock players
Luv ya Kim, im from Kouvola gig u shook my hand, i waz so confuzed, i couldnt say my name..until u asked..yeah, im Taija, from Finland, waited over 35yrs, waz totally worth of..also ⚡ former RockGoddess, Tracey Lamb...still so fuckin excited at UR gig
Good to see a clear nice video of this again after so many years. Got to know about them from imported copies of Sounds paper in 1980. Yes it's all been said before but they were pioneers and still not appreciated enough. Still so sad about Kelly, what rotten luck R.I.P.
The song seems to say that they have played real dives and small bars and clubs.I love the chorus.." For miles around - they heard the sound, and came to see the show, cause they all know.......a demolition " !!
Many many thanks for this - one of my favourite bands. Lucky enough to see them both back in the early 80's and more recently too. Still brilliant - most underestimated and underappreciated band along with Thunder of all time..
These girls started at a time when Rock Music came to its best. There was a plethora of truly great bands from soft rock through hard rock and metal.A band had to be top drawer!Who remembers that there was a pop chart and Indie chart and a ROCK CHART.? Inde has now for whatever reason been labelled as Rock, but back then it was an excuse to turn the radio off. FFS, Coldplay is even labelled as rock today!! WTF is that all about.? Thanks to You Tube and the people who upload this great era a, I can still spend endless hours listening to class musicians who still smash it out to this day, Thanks
Simply brilliant, saw them on Friday and they were still awesome, but of course without Kelly it's never quite the same, RIP Kelly, and rock on Girlschool you are far better than most bands.
Don't forget Kelly left the band years before she passed away. So even if she was still alive, you would have seen Girlschool without her...unless she rejoined. This said with all due respect to Kelly Johnson, who I STILL adore and worship. I was lucky enough to have a chat with her not long before she passed: she did a guest spot at a Girlschool gig at the Garage in London. Chris Bonacci also turned up, quite a party...and a very special night.
I seen these ladies play in cedar rapids, iowa in Jan.1984. i might find the ticket someday & price of ticket maybe $12.50 // Get this : 3 bands - Quiet riot / girls school / Then SAGA finished the show* - today is 3-2-2020 - pretty good memory !
Most guys focussed on Kelly, who was beautiful, but I was always more interested in Kim for her dark eyes, black hair and that gorgeous voice and accent. At that time she was the perfect girlfriend material and I wish.... Today she's almost 60, still beautiful(to me) and still makes me smile with her accent. I think the world of her and wish her the happiness she deserves. ROCK ON KIM.
Nice to see this. I saw the girls just once; supporting Motorhead on the Overkill tour at Liverpool Empire, 1979. They got a lot of abuse from the idiot element that night. I loved them and fancied Enid to bits. RIP Kelly.

I actually meet them outside the Apollo in Manchester a couple of time and kissed kelly and Denise
known in the Netherlands also for what's worth.
I remember listening to them when I lived in Whitehorse Yukon in the early 80's, great band.

This video still makes me grin ear to ear! Thank you Kelly, Enid, Kim and Denise. You are all awesome!
Kelly, a Goddess with guitar.
"Demolition Boys," mentioned twice in the song while "Demolition," the album title is heard eight times. Spectacular❗💯🎵🎤🎸🏆
80's = Headbang = Golden Age
Just thinking the same thing?
Viv Albertine from The Slits can be seen for a split second in the very beginning lol
This was the first Girlschool song I ever heard, while laying on the sand at Lake Panamoka, Long Island...blew me away.

Motörhead influence really shines through on this track - love it. What a great team they made!
Yeah, Motorhead was influenced by punk rock, too. They also hung out with The Plasmatics, a hardcore punk band headed by Wendy O Williams.
