Thanks for watching!
Last year I planted a strawberry in a pot, this year I have a patch of yard full of them haha. That was just 1 plant, now about the other 20 in pots.
I'm on my second full year of gardening and have 5 gardens started.. I just bought my first strawberry seedling at a local nursery and can't wait to get it in a milk crate tower! Happy gardening and thank you!!
Thank you, out of several video’s on working with runners, yours was the only one showing how to handle it while still attached and in the air. I’ve been having a hard time getting any of mine to survive. Your is the best suggestion yet!
Thank you so much for your videos! You teach sooo well! I watch your videos the most because you are so informative and perfect for learning!!
Thanks so much for this video! This is my first (successful) time growing strawberries, which I have growing in two AeroGardens indoors. I’ve transplanted my first 5 runners, propagated using the baggie technique you demonstrated, into containers outdoors, and I have two more runners set up for propagation. SO EASY!
we noticed runners on our plants and you've given us a super easy way to generate new sets all around our farm...
Thanks Kim,

your channel is so helpful - thank you for taking the time to make these wonderful informative videos
Thank you so much! Mine have runners all over the place too! I will be doing this on Monday after our heat wave.
Thank you for this very informative video! I just started planting strawberries. So excited to see it flourish like yours!❤️
Thank you so much for this video CaliKim! I have so many runners that I didn't know what to do with them! I think you are so amazing! God bless!
Oh my, I had NO clue you could propagate strawberries! Thanks for the great, informative video once again Kim!
-Fans from Florida
Thank you. My hanging strawberries have half a dozen runners and I had no idea how to propagate them. Now I do. The only change I made was to also use landscape staples inside the bags. Otherwise for some reason the soil was too heavy for the runners to remain in constant contact with the soil. Obviously something I was doing wrong. Thx. Now looking forward to more berries year after year. Am now off to check out your book I see mentioned in the pinned comment. tc
Great video. Thanks for sharing. I really like the idea of using the bag. This has really helped me with getting mine started.
I love your Ziploc bag method propagating method Kim. I will try it out with my lot when they start.
***** It's much quicker that planting them in little pots when you have the mother plant in a container situation. Plus looks kind of fun to see all those zippies hanging down. Let me know how it works for you. Mine are literally exploding!
After watching just a few minutes, i attacked the wild strawberries in my backyard. I now have a wild strawberry plant with little flowers on it growing on my front porch. Intend to use your methode as soon as it produces runners❤
I did plant some strawberry's in two pots I really didn't know what to do with the new runners Thank You so now I will drill some new holes in the sides of the pot and start the runners
Your instructions are the best. I tell everyone about you.
I am also very fond of strawberries. The climate in my region is quite different, but not bad strawberry growing. It is interesting to watch your strawberries. )))
Awesome update thank you for sharing Kim and have a blessed day
great idea about the bags I usually put the runners in the ground or if I have them in a container I use a small pot but your idea is much quicker and easier.😁
Thank you for the great info, out to try this now in our highland garden.
My strawberries are beginning crazy roots. I'm gonna follow your method, thank you
I have 3 different strawberry plants. Sweet kiss, Laramie & aspen. I love putting them in my morning shakes & an evening strawberry salad. A lot of the time I'm eating them without anything & freezing some for jam & smoothies.
Thanks. Definitely will be trying this. Just got a ton of strawberry plant hanging pots at Lowe's for dirt cheap.
I just found your channel today. I must say this is one of the most informative and educational channels I have found on youtube. I have already learned a lot.
Thanks for visiting the channel! Glad to hear it's helping - are you growing your own garden?
Thanks for shearing CaliKim👍
Love this video, I had to watch the tape cutting twice....priceless !!!
Just bought a hanging strawberry bush that has runners I wanted to propagate. So glad I found your channel! I look forward to watching many more videos!
What a great idea! I have been planting mine in pots , but some make it and some don’t. I will try this method . I also live in sunny Ca, and my biggest problem other then the hot and dry months , is wind. I lose most of my strawberry plants every year because of it.
This method of rooting strawberry runners worked great! I have 26 new potted runners & 24 more rooting!
Excellent! I LOVE hearing this! Thank you so much for sharing!
awesome video! So excited on doing this! Thank you for great tips!! God bless!
+BrideofChrist so glad you enjoyed the video! Keep me updated on how your strawberries are doing. Thanks for watching!
That’s a great idea to put the runners into bags
I've trawled CZcams for videos on growing strawberries, this is by far the BEST! She's like the Jennifer Aniston of Gardening
+HRH Hopper CameraGuy, ha ha, I love it! CK says thanks too, for the watching the video and for the nice compliment. Are you going start your tower build?
Came accross your channel, it's very good 👍❤️. Just yesterday I have planted 10 Strawberries in baskets.
always so informative. Thanks for share
I really love your video....so many ideas to start my own garden :)
Wow, I came up with this method with the baggies. I was just looking today for people that used it.
I noticed another guy who works on a farm uses something like these but they look like they were made for runners. I have been trying to look around for something similar for my potted plants. How do we water it?
Excellent no word to express
Appreciate
Thanks for the video!
Kim, good job.... eat well and be happy...
Joe Bucci Thanks, Joe! You too! Thx for watching!
Strawberry pop. I like that.
Similar to fig pop cuttings or airlayer.
Absolutely awesome job💯
Cool trick can't wait to try
THE STRETCHY TAPE IS VERY EASY TO USE
Can't wait to try😊 I usually buy new every yr. Can't seem to keep them going 🍓
Tnx for the tips and infos Mam...
Wish I saw your videos months ago. Such great ideas...And so easy! I can feel my thumbs turning green;0)Thank you!
My family starting to say I have a green thumb! Took 8 years and one leans forever!
Learns
I love your videos u have so many great ids
Thank you very much 🙏 🙏 🙏
Amazing and interesting 😇😇😇
The last one you did in this video where you left in on the mother plant, you can do that to rose bushes as well. Take a rose bush branch that is long and flexible, bend it over to the ground where you have dug a shallow hole, cut a notch in the branch being careful not to cut it off, place it in the shallow hole and cover with soil. It about 2 weeks it will have rooted out. If you don't want to place it in the ground, you can use a container.
oh I love it I want have like this plant..
Thanks so much miss.
Thank you for information
Can't wait to try, thanks
You got it!!
I started with like 6 strawberry plants. Since runners take so much energy I use only one for propagating and I use the others for fruit. I just cut the runners off the ones for fruit so they can use most of their energy on making the strawberries and for the one dedicated to propagating I ONLY use it to get more plants. Yeah...
Excellent idea, I've learned it's actually idea to sacrifice one or more plants for new seeds so your method for more strawberry plants makes a whole lot of sense. I'm here for easy ideas such as this because I'm a newbie to gardening.
Another easy way to propagate strawberry get a kiddie pool around 48inch fill up with a mound in the middle plant 3 or 4 plants they will make tons of runners don't forget drain holes in pool 😁
That's brilliant, Dale!!!! Kim
The strawberry tower is so convenient and handy. It makes it so you don’t have to get on your hands and knees to work on your strawberry plants so that is the what I like best about it.
shartne Hi there! I love that about it too, its super easy to care for! Do you have plans to build one soon! In most climates, fall is a perfect time to plant strawberries! Thx so much for stopping by to watch!
I would like to. I would like to find someone who has some like one of my friends and get some starts off of them. I will have to ask around.
FANTASTIC VIDEO THANKS!!!!
Thanks for watching!
Thank you so much!
How cool!
Nice information
Great video
Guess what I will be doing this summer with my strawberry plant!
Morning Kim,
I have enjoyed all your videos. They are very informative and I always pick up new tips in each one. Thank you for your time.
1st started viewing by watching your composting one.
Question; where do you purchase the stretchy tape you have mentioned in the video...could you please share the brand name? I live in a rural area in Texas and do not have many resources available so I do a lot of my buying on the web.
Really great video, we will be growing British strawberries in a large trellis planter , with a few climbers up the back for colour, very inspired by your runner video and bare root plant video , so thank you x will let you know how we get on , what's the best time to start a bare root strawberry plant?
kim great vid whens your next harvest
ok Kim will do.
😍 Great video ! absolutly adorable . Thank you . God bless .
+Adriana Bonita This made me smile. Thank you Adriana, thank you for watching and commenting. Kim
CaliKim29 Garden & Home DIY your video's make me happy ! I wil do this on my balkony ...😆 Its for the birds . I am silly for them as well . God bless you forever and your family .

This was a great video! Thank you so much! I just picked up a beautiful strawberry plant and other herbs from the farmers market.. I keep saying I have too many plants but I always want more. 150 later and I'm still adding. Lol I'm trying this out, thanks kim!
Like air propagation, neat.
Hey there thank you for sharing this great video! I am new to growing strawberries, my plant has runners and i got 2 pots filled with soil for them. For some reason they don't seem to be rooting. How long does it typically take for them to root?
Nice and informative video
Hey
Wow! Love the baggie idea.
Here is my question...
I planted strawberries yesterday and today for the first time. So I am not very experienced. 31 plants in containers and crates. But ...my concern is when I can allow my plants to put out runners and make new plants? This is their first year.
"Organics Best" told me to watch his videos and so I have been but still have questions.
Zone 6 Washington State.
Question is how well will these plants make it through the winter in pots?
hi nice video thanks for sharing. question how long does these strawberry takes to bear
wow nice
My strawberry bed is a mess. I planted 50 plants in the spring and all of them are shooting out "daughters" all over the place!! With my poor-old back it's going to take me two days to get them planted and the bed looking good again. Next years crop of berries is going to be GREAT!!!
Thanks for your video on growing strawberries. I loved it and I'm going to give it a try.
I live in Sydney Australia...you have heard about Australia...yes?? Is there a best time of the year to start growing in our climate vs the climate of the US? What are your thoughts? I planted some strawberries in April and just now, Summer in Australia...I have the strawberries about to grow. I can see 3 baby heads which I am so happy about but especially my daughter, who loves strawberries!! I want to do a tower like yours, so she will remain happier & longer than normal! Question, do strawberries grow all year round? Should I build a green house or something ? Love to hear your thoughts! Thanks, Chris
Hi. Can you please give a link to the stretch tape which you use. I am in India and will try to find the same online somewhere. I love your videos and each and every one is like a gardening tutorial. Please keep up the good work and thanks in advance.
How do you store the roots over the winter time ? I live in NJ and tried to store my plants in the garage after my hydroponic tower was disassembled in October
Clever!
You don't need to go as far as that bag. I mean it works, but using a little of rooting hormone you can propagate with just water, or even snip them off at the top of the runner, and plant it.
That’s what I was thinking. Why couldn’t you just plant it? It’s basically the same thing except without having to disturb it.
@@angelinah427 but it doesn’t have roots yet so it would probably die from lack of water before it could root itself.
Everyone i tried to plant without roots died. Maybe its the area im in? Seems like its so much harder here in jersey.. or if things are going good you end up with diseases. Now Im dealing with these damn baby spotted lantetnflys all squatting in my roses and they are not easy to take out without taking out my roses. I started spraying some soap for bugs that I got at lowes but now the Flys have scattered and I'm scared to spray my tomato & strawberry plants.
This weekend I designed a strawberry tower using a pvc pipe. What I have not thought about is how I will cover with straw to protect it through the winter. Vertical gardening has its pros but also cons. My other problem is when watering, the dirt escapes through holes. Eventually I'll figure out the best solution.
+Julie Umansky sounds very interesting, Julie! Do you do garden videos, or have your daughter film you! Would be fun to see the build!
hi cali this is useful tip..thank......
+Lakshmi Narayanan So far its working great for me - getting lots of free plants so far! Are you growing strawberries, Lakshmi?
+CaliKim29 Garden & Home DIY I have a plan to plant a strawberry...
We inherited a strawberry garden with our new home. Will last year's strawberry patch grow back? How can I prune it or prepare it properly so it will grow more strawberries?
I actually just bought 24 strawberry plants the other day, and came across this video. In your experience, do strawberry's do better in the ground or tower crate? And if in the ground, how much do you need to have the bed raised? And is there anything else that I should know about them? I've watched all your videos on strawberry's, but I figured trial and error or success right? lol thx!
I was just given some strawberry cuttings. Do I plant them now being so late in season or how do I preserve the plants till spring in order to plant?
Where do I buy the tape? Thanks so much for this!
สนุกดี อยากปลูกบ้างจังอยากได้พันสักต้น
You actually get better rooting results and quicker rooting when bury them deeper into the soil. You can even bury the entire thing if you used a little cup instead and they will do fantastic.
Do you know if one in cold climates would have to take the berries inside during the winter?
Can i use some type bird netting and drape it over to prevent birds, raccoons, and squirrels from eating the strawberries?
A few questions:
1) What is that tape called? It sounds very useful but I need to know what I am asking for in order to buy it!
2) Is there anything you can do to encourage a runner to start growing roots? Everything I see just says to wait and it will just happen, then tells you what to do once roots start to show.
3) Once you have assembled the ball of dirt in a baggie for a runner to grow it's roots in, it seems like the baggie of dirt might be too heavy for the runner too support the weight of it. Has that ever been an issue?
Loved the video I just tryed it to my garden but it's the first year an I only had 2. What do u do if u have a Bush with no runners
You might have day neutral berries? I think they don't really produce runners. I want to try each kind next year to see what works better for me in my area
How do you make strawberry plants to produce runners? I had my plants for a year and they haven’t made runners. I have the pine berry (white strawberry) and the Elan red strawberry
Im growing a green been
When you say potting soil, does it have the 6-9 month fertilizer in it? Or is it more like seeding soil with no fertilizer?
Kim where can I find the stretching tape?
