Beatriz Alves Ferreira, better known as Ya Bia D'Osumare, is from the city of São Paulo and was initiated 27 years ago in Candomblé, a movement based on traditional African religion, which originated during the time of slavery.
Yá Bia is a mother of three children, has a degree in law, nursing and has several specializations in health care. As head of ÀÁfin Osumare, an organization whose goal is the worship of the orixás (deities connected to nature and its forces), the fight against racism, Lgbt-phobia, intolerance and all kinds of social exclusion, especially of our precious elderly,
Yá Bia is committed to activities to nurture and keep alive African motherhood beliefs, as well as the development of cultural and environmental awareness projects.
