Satsang is a Sanskrit term derived from two roots: sat meaning "true’" and sangha meaning community, company, or association. It can be translated as "associating with good people" or simply "being in the company of truth," and refers to the act of gathering with Sattvic-minded, uplifting beings, especially spiritual seekers.
Satsang is different from any course or lecture because the energy field in it allows for clarity, stillness, and expanded awareness to be experienced by those who seek it.
Whenever something increases your awareness of the Truth, it opens your Heart and quiets your mind.
Satsang is one of the most effective means of transcending your mind and staying in the egoless state which can be called enlightenment, liberation, freedom, moksha, nirvana or simply abiding in Self.
We call our Satsang lovingly as Bhagavan Satsang as they are all due to his grace, Bhagavan Sri Ramana Maharshi.
According to Bhagavan Sri Ramana Maharshi Satsang means only Atma Sang(Association with Self). Those who are trying to be in Self can come in the company of realized beings/Sadhus/Saints/Sages and that is also Satsang. Those who come in the company of Jivanmuktas also become Jivanmuktas.
Bhagavan explained the importance of Satsang by quoting Tayumanuvar, Suta Samhita, and Kaivalya Navanitam.
Bhagavan Sri Ramana Maharshi is widely thought of as one of the most outstanding Indian spiritual teachers of recent times. Having attained enlightenment at the age of 16, he was drawn to the holy mountain of Arunachala in southern India and remained there for the rest of his life. Arunachala mountain itself is considered to be self-manifested Lingam, an incarnation of Lord Shiva. Just by looking at it with reverence liberation will happen.
Attracted by his stillness, quietness, and teachings, thousands sought his guidance on issues ranging from the nature of God to daily life.
The philosophy of Advaita or Non-Duality has become, along with Buddhism, one of the most popular spiritual paths being pursued by those interested in enlightenment today. During the past three decades, Advaita has become more widely recognized in the West through the ever-growing popularity of Ramana Maharshi. His point of view has for its aim Self-realization. The central path taught in this philosophy is the inquiry into the nature of Self, the content of the notional 'I-thought'. Carl Jung wrote of Ramana: “Sri Ramana is a true son of the Indian earth. He is genuine and, in addition to that, something quite phenomenal. In India, he is the whitest spot in a white space. What we find in the life and teachings of Sri Ramana is the purest of India; with its breath of world-liberated and liberating humanity, it is a chant of millenniums.”
Om Peace Peace Peace.

To Shift attention from outside... impressing people, possessing things... to knowing The Self.
When thoughts come from the ego,do not allow them to enter, exploit, enslave you.
Abide in The Pure Silence ,Peace, till ego dissolves.
Evergrateful,namo Ramana.🙏
Listening to the early signs of ego dissolving, I relate to a withdrawal from drama and mind quietening. There was also a sense of the attachment to the story of the personal identity disappearing, a process of being less attached to the story of ‘me’. There were times when in situations where the story of the personal identity would have previously been activated and instead, a noticing of the absence of story but instead, an emotion would rise in the body and dissipate, with no mind activity, which gave an amazing sense of freedom from the personal story. Sometimes this is very profound, other times more subtle. On occasion it still happens, when deeper layers of the false self are being removed. Thank you, very wonderful teaching!
Great explanation,thank u!

Whether you lost interest in working or not you’ll still have to work to make a living. Since it’s all pre determined, spend the time you have free to be empty. There’s nothing else to do. Everything else is mind stuff

As the ego gauges it’s own health by the degree of interest or passion it experiences, a number of these signs can easily be mistaken for depression. Particularly when all around you are fully ego-engaged and any comparison with that phenomenon comes back as a lack. This can be particularly problematic in the west.
Hej mate .
Can you simplify what you wrote ?
Ta
@@PeterLauriton Suffering is a result of filtering experience through ego. Whereas experience filtered through consciousness, and not pre filtered by ego is bliss. We live in the realm of ego. As spiritual health increases and the interest level we experience for the things around us wanes, we can feel depressed, because we are still comparing our perceptions with the egos around us, and when we feel ourselves pulling away from the ups and downs of the ego, we will compare poorly with those around us. We won’t want to bother with the hollow thrills and prizes for playing the ego game, and we may feel lonely, disconnected from those around us - and because the ego is doing all this comparing, it will want us to feel bad about this non-ego-centric way of life.
The immense benefit of becoming one with the consciousness at the core of our being is that there is peace and happiness, but until you get used to resting in that space, it can feel like a loss of zest for life. Of course it is not, particularly if the work to realize our connection with the great consciousness is not being driven by deep psychological damage, which is the driver for many people. The ego only works in duality, up-down, good-bad, happy-sad, etc. so in its own terms spiritual health is ego-cancelling, which is felt as not-good by the ego.

@@markstevens1729 Very well said - people search for many years to come to this understanding - thanks for sharing :)
If depression is the result of your ego dissolving, it is not enlightment and living in consciousness. The nature of living completely in consciousness with ego meted down is eternal bliss. Nothing else. Even after dissolving the ego, one can live in this mundane world completely immersed in selfless work.
If you have not reached that stage, it is better to perform your duties pleasantly, without anxiety for the fruits of your actions.
Much appreciated presentation - thank-you and Hari Om! 🙏

Djokovic once said I know i have a ego . The best thing to do is to befriend the ego 💡Coz it ain't going anywhere
Thanks you nice video
Please note: dispassion can create a mind reaction resulting in depression. It is scary not to feel any interest or inclination you used to have. Do not worry. Cry if you/ego need. Have absolute faith. When this delusional phase of ego subsides, transparent, peaceful bliss and quiet will be there. What seemed to be dispassion will turn into contentment and equanimity, you will do what is required or what the Heart spontaneously does, with no preferences, free of needs, possess and merit. Nothing costs you anything anymore.
Thank you for this reminder. The spiritual path can be very lonely, especially with the standard Western paradigm of psychological growth hanging over you. Seekers may feel like they're on the wrong path when, rather than feeling better and better, they in fact feel more and more depressed when following the spiritual journey. However, it's just as you say, one has to go through the fire of ego death. But, at the other end is bliss that far exceeds any that might arise from mundane attainments.
I am Woking on silencing My EGO AND MY MIND . 🙏

'The wicked and deceitful shall ask for a sign. And for him there shall be none given.' What a dilemma. Transcending the ego is the biggest ego trip going. Who is asking for a sign?
I see what you did there. Nice.
@@WakeUpJoshua80 It's really about seeing what you did😉
This is from the Bible, but I didn't understand you... 😞 Do you mind to explain?
@@zion367 I will try, but it isn't very easy. My own 'spiritual' journey began by listening, by sheer chance, to Alan Watts, in particular to a talk on 'Spiritual Authority'. I listened to it over and over again, it triggered something within, though I couldn't fully understand what was triggered, I listened again and again until I did understand it. I also began to meditate, but I saw no change within myself. I have a friend that meditates regularly, not as any spiritual practise, but as a remedy for his anxiety and depression, as prescribed by his therapist. For me, not ever having suffered unduly from these, I saw no effect of any meditation on myself. And also a huge problem came to light, in that, meditation, for the purpose of transcending or getting rid of the ego has the opposite effect, which is to reinforce the ego, on the grounds of 'I' being the do'er of the meditation. I'd also been misguided by a whole number of modern day internet pseudo gurus that encourage all types of spiritual practises like meditation and yoga practises, like a bogus doctor handing out medicine without knowing what that particular medicine is for. If you end up taking hemorrhoid cream for a sore throat, the desired effect is not likely to occur, in fact it the results could be worse. But like most seekers, I kept trawling the spiritual internet for a guru that could provide that missing piece of knowledge, and with my understanding complete I would blossom into some divine Infinite state of pure conciousness, or something or other. It never happened. But what did happen was that I began to disagree with a famous CZcams guru, and one or two fellow seekers agreed with me and asked Stephen Wolinski about that guru's teachings, which Wolinski pulled apart in a five minute video. With no disrespect to Wolinski, I learned that he was of the school of Nisargadatta Maharaj, and decided to hear it straight from the horse's mouth. The actual conversations of Maharaj are faithfully translated and available on CZcams, and I wouldn't bother listening to anyone's teaching, not even a known disciple Maharaj or Ramana Maharshi. Not because I think that they don't know what they're talking about, but because I do know that Maharaj does.
'When the student is ready, the master will appear. When the student is really ready, the master will disappear'. Along with the student.
'On who's authority do you choose a guru?' Alan Watts.
The minute you make someone a guru, through the illusion of the duality of mind, (self/other) you unwittingly make yourself a student. The master has appeared. When the student has seen through the illusion, the master is no longer the guru. And the student is no longer a student. There was never anything more to seeker, than the activity of seeking itself.
The guru and the seeker were both my own doing, my karma.
' I created the light, and I formed the darkness. Good and evil, I made them both. I alone do all these things.'
'Who am 'I'?
I saw from history, what the world's earliest seekers where looking for, who they were talking about, looking for me, before I was even born. The eternal, the absolute, Sadhguru Parabrahma, Infinite conciousness, Allah, God.
'Before Abraham was, I am.'
Just don't go around telling everyone, it's taboo, they'll call it blasphemy and nail you to a cross. Remember what happened last time?
Fuck that again. 🤣☯️♾
@@teryarty177 Thanks for sharing your thoughts with me. I love to learn from anyone, but I am always relying on my own discernment to see if information is true. "Thou shall have no other gods before me" means I shall not place any man above the voice of my own spirit.
I do however learn from every human that crosses my path. Through understanding, humility and introspection.
Even the little child can be my teacher, but to allow that the ego must be recognised so it will not block the lessons.
🙏
Had to laugh , no sign more indicative of an ego still intact than wanting self reflective signs to prove it is. Count me in.

"Desire to impress beings & possess things stems from the division of I as body-mind & the world as the other" - Everything one does seems to be "wrong". Then what's our purpose here? Going to school, getting a degree, marrying, having children, all of the everyday life activities involve "impressing beings" and "possesing things". The only way to avoid impressing people and possessing things is isolating in a cave. And if we all do that....what's the point?
@@johnbowen4442 you can easily find balance when you eliminate all the triggers, when you are at home by yourself and no one bothers you. The moment you go outside, things change.
Thank you it's the first time i find a video with Ramana Maharshis 'voice. I have a question, what is this picture of a mountain under the text, and what is this white light coming from it's right side and speeding across the sky? Did you put it on purpose? Namaste!
Not his voice
The backdrop is of Arunachala, I think. The voice is not Bhagwan Ramana Maharishi
I thought I was just going through an extended period of melancholy as I have lost interest in everything. It all started once I began seriously studying Advaita Vedanta. Can anyone please offer some help. What is it that I’m going through?
Oh, you are blessed!
@@consuelocardozo2053 that’s very kind of you to say but it doesn’t feel like it. Thank you.
Advaita Vedanta is the top of the philosophical mountain, so good choice! You are experiencing the rebellion of the ego. The ego only knows duality, and tries to fit all experience into its divisions. The oneness of Brahman threatens the position of the ego at the top of the mind's executive suite. The ego can only perceive this as a problem. The technique is to focus on the peace of identifying with the spirit (jeeva) and not trying to defeat the ego, as that is NOT the preferred outcome, but to get the ego to move into its rightful spot, a guardian of the incarnation in relation to other egos. The problem is that a materialistic society has encouraged ego to become the top dog, filtering all experience through its simplistic duality: up-down, good-bad, happy-sad and if we don't challenge that, we suffer.
Let the ego remain interested, just give the spirit the final say in your decision making and you should experience a difference. The ego is necessary, just not as the sole decision maker, but as a gentle guardian of the mind and body.
See @markstevens1729 2 weeks ago in comments above. It relates to what you're saying. Interesting phenomenon..
You are so very blessed and fortunate to be part of this satsang! This is all because of your yearning for Trurh and your dispassion for this world!! Just continue to sit in silence as much as you can, be in solitude with your true Self, seek what and who you truly are!! This is the most beautiful thing you can do for Yourself....your true purpose! You are receiving the Grace of God ❤❤🙏🙏🙌🙌Blessings my Friend! Continue listening to these beautiful videos!😊
Thank you so so much 🙏 Just there is still one question within me - everything is Self, then ego and its activities is from Self as well, this fake world is from Self all emotions are from Self...
There are different approaches to the Truth.
Take the one that fits to you and it will lead you there anyway.
Check about neti neti and iti iti
Thank you very much for such a profound explanation and clarification! I finally got what it means to abide in the self. I recognized the silence within me and the projections of the ego became very clear. My humble Pranams to you 🪔🥰🙏
In this path of spirituality one gets some Sidis It is up to you whether to use it or not. Paramahamsa said in his gospel. It is like a child crying mother comes and gives a toy child happy now. Stop cryingBut another child no matter doesn’t stop crying. Mother leaves her work n comes n sit with the child. Now child stop crying. Child want only mother One shd be like this child which wants only mother. I just want liberation. Don’t want Siddhi’s want liberation. Those who uses Siddhi’s don’t get liberation

Hello, all. I have understood that the Maharshi died as a result of cancer, but do not know the exact, proximal cause of death. Is this available anywhere in the literature? I believe he was offered oxygen, but do not know if he accepted or refused it.
Here's my dilemma. I've known since I was a boy that the whole universe is in flux. There is no foundation. Nothing to grab on to. No security. I am keenly aware of the truth of impermanence, but instead of peace it causes me much distress. How does impermanence give you peace? If you know that nothing is solid, doesn't it drive you mad? It does me. I can't sleep. I can't rest. Always on the defensive.
I wish you peace, Joshua.
@@Dtrain927 Thank you. You as well brother.

You have to stop resisting and give in to the void. Then you will finde peace. There is nothing to be afraid of. I struggled the same way. Don't forget there are many ways, to experience. Namaste @Joshua Serino
Technically your true self as energy is the very thing that’s permanent…not even necessarily always being aware of that energy that is life/awareness …this is how I perceive it
