- In the fourth story of our five-part 'Transit 2024' series, Nick Westoll tours the Hazel McCallion LRT line in Mississauga and Brampton and gets a project update.
Please continue to make this kind of videos with updates for the LRT line! It's good!

Great to see mass transit development actually nearing completion. Pls continue with mass transit updates.

how is he a bot😶@@AndrewDhaliwal-iu1ws
We already had buses running why they need to put slow streetcars after build roads for buses
My criticism of this line is similar to that of Finch and Eglinton (eastern section) LRTs, this rail line should have been grade separated like the Vancouver Skytrain or Montreal REM. Perhaps that is something that can be upgraded in the future (Japan ended up doing this to some of their LRT lines). Having said that, if the LRT is given traffic signal priority it will definitely allow people to move fairly smoothly and quickly through Mississauga and Brampton. I hope CityNews can continue with these transit project updates.
Yes
just let it finish first…then wait for the issues to settle down. it’ll be fine.
@@jpsion That's the plan.
Brampton drivers will keep making left turns into them
Grade Separation is always a good idea, but politically justifying the added cost to suburban stakeholders is challenging, its much easier to point at neighboring on street LRT ROWs as a viable case study, rather than proposing kilometers of new LRT viaducts. You also want to avoid the situation in Montreal where the REM de l'Est got axed because NIMBYs were complaining about the viaduct design being an "eyesore."
Keep going. These are complex projects and the public needs updates to keep officials and politicians accountable. Great work on this coverage

Yes
Love the transit updates, we need to keep these things in the public consciousness. That way no one gets complacent and we don't end up with another Eglington disaster
True
Transit project behind schedule?? In other breaking news, water is wet.
Very excited for this important project. Thanks for covering it City News!

We all know a 2024 completion date WILL NOT HAPPEN. I drove up Hurontario and I said to myself there is no chance this project gets done before I predict 2026!
Lazy boy can not meet the target date... even can not decide revised completion date.
I kind of figured it was gonna be delayed but i think progression wise this LRT has made some good headways, i take the GO bus fairly regularly and seeing roads being repositioned to pave the LRT through is nice to see but realistically i dont see this opening until late 2025.
Yea true
Only in ontario does it take an eternity to build infrastructure
LOL definitely not limited to just Ontario my man
it is because we stopped building subway after the so called line 1 and 2 were finished few decades ago and we lost the expertise. Just look at any cities in Asia, they never stop building subways
@@suomynona7371 I often say that. Country's like China and Europe must just look at us and laugh, because we're so far behind in infrastructure and transportation.
I guess we are now calling massive delays and cost overruns a "major feat of engineering". The "feat" was pushing a box under a rail line. It was majorly delayed due to soil ravelling around the box while it was being pushed, so they had to stabilize it with grout injection. Sad that Metrolinx/Mobilinx don't give any recognition to the world renowned, highly skilled engineers and laborers from right here in Southern Ontario that pulled off the "major feat of engineering". Metrolinx and Mobilinx just got in their own way and made a complete mess managing the project.
Technical challenges happen in construction but come on dude, you work for the public, you don't need to pull the wool over their eyes.

The Hurontario LRT construction doesn't look like it's done. In fact, they'll have to find an opening date in a year later or two
🤖
And the left speaker still doesn’t work
🤖
They turn this contract into full time job, from one contact to another.
Hurontario will be virtually closed for the entirety of 2024
🤖
Opening 2026-27 at the latest.
I absolutely agree, 2024 will not happen for completion
Just like how they are building the Hurontario LRT mississauga should build a Subway to and for Bramton to for a Subway
Delay, delay, delay...
who is doing your post production for these videos? I am noticing the audio is mono and constantly panned hard right. If you need help with this let me know. I do post production for commercial radio and tv and films. It is and EASY FIX.
They just send out a construction notice letting residents know of new timeline for track installation from July 2024 to July 2025. They will not open the line even in 2025. Hearing Metrolinx saying we are working as fast as we can is a massive lie. They don't have a full day schedule, that's why you can barely see anyone working.
They are very efficient in delivering excuses.
Berry smart sports
It's incredible how EVERYTHING Metrolinx touches ends up being either over budget, significantly delayed or (usually) both... It's insane 🙄
Because they're given an open cheque book.
The government will "build" houses at this pace too. Promise today build in 6 years
Good videos, but please fix your audio so it goes equally to the left and right channels.
If you guys could stop making all your speaking audio in the right earphone only that would be lovely.
Ate you a 🤖?
@@AndrewDhaliwal-iu1wsmost of the others are. Not this one though.
So much progress in just 5 years of this government. I doubt the Tories are going anywhere in 2026.
This project is a waste of taxpayers money, what mississauga direly needs is a subway terminal that connects it to Kipling ttc subway station.
This has some possibilities of turning into the Crosstown Eglington Delay, too many cooks are spoiling the soup...!!!
No, it doesn't because there is no tunnel portions or stations that have to be mined other existing transit stations.
Keep pushing for public updates. Keep them accountable to their timelines
Is LRT really a sexier name for Streetcar?
There are better alternatives that take 1/10th the time and 90% less money.
Hazel who? Why her name there? It is being paid by her ( taxpayers money) fortune?
🤖
Elevate it or bury it, but I don't know why they put it at grade....
Oh wait, budget and time-to-construction. I wonder how that's going? 😅
🤖
Completed just as the workforce switches to the work-from-home model, making this the modern E. C. Rowe expressway.
Brampton, don’t you want to be great?
Useless why making this now when we already had buses in use for 30 years
It won't be finished until 2028.😂
They can not meet target date, It is very shamful of Canada style construction.
Brampton needs to focusing on teaching drivers how to properly drive… worst drivers
Very slow and traffic slow and buses
Lol no way they'll finish 2024. I say 2026 at best
I heard streetcars were once a thing, which is all this is.
If it opens it won’t work properly ☹️
