Last I heard, Miyamoto had said whatever ideas they could have for a new game, they'd rather just add to the next Mario Kart, since that's remained popular (or more importantly, a money maker). I'm more counting on the fan addition F-Zero DSX that's being worked on, even if it is technically a reskin of MKDS with some new tracks.
