    I have a cane corse Swiss mountain dog mix and she will not potty train. She will go outside and pee and/or poop and then we will go inside and the first thing she does is poop and/or pee in her kennel. We’ve tried positive reinforcement, negative reinforcement and spanking. I’ve taken her out every 45 min to an hour, every time she whines or cries and still the same. She now has gotten in the habit of only crying after she potties inside and within 15 min of coming back inside after going potty. She also potties right after my boyfriend leaves the house even tho he takes her out and won’t let her back in until after she potties outside. We have 2 other dogs and we potty trained them with positive reinforcement and they were both trained within the week of having them home. I’m not sure what to do. I try really hard to consistently take her outside and clean up after her accidents but my house now smells like a barn and I need help. We are considering giving her away and also have a meeting set up with someone to possibly adopt her. It’s not fair to her.

    I’ve had my girl for almost a month now...we do live in an apartment on the third floor(we close on our house next month) I have had two other English mastiffs in my life and trained both successfully. Anyhow, she has NEVER pooped inside BUT, she has peed 3-4 times. She doesn’t usually run away to do it, she does it right in front of me usually.
    I take her out every hour on the hour and she pees with praise and treats every time...what am I doing wrong?
    Other problem...my fiancé’s dachshund had a horrible tantrum problem of, if he is left home alone, it’s almost as if he gets mad and goes potty inside because, he’s always taken out an potty’s before we leave or he’s left alone...
    Is she smelling his spots? I was always under the impression mastiffs don’t really follow other dogs, they’re kinda independent and do their own thing but, I can’t quite figure this one out...

      Lastly, when it comes to moving your dog off puppy food, it's always best to chat things like this through with your vet. They are best placed to be able to track any changes and give tailored advice to you and your pup 😊

      Do not use pee pads. You need to schedule the feedings. Take him out before and after they eat. Take the puppy out every 30 minutes after. Take him out especially right after the crate and naps. It’s going to take 2-3 months of this every day. Before you know it, they will go to the door on their own.

    I got a Cane Corso about 5 weeks ago when she was 8 weeks old. We all love her to death and her us, but this is one of the 2 things we're really having trouble with. I've owned many types of dogs throughout my life. Pitbulls, German Shepherds, Chows, and many mixes. But I have NEVER had such a hard headed dog in my life, especially a puppy. She goes out like you said after waking, after eating or drinking, then half the time goes again after coming back inside. One thing I may be doing wrong is leaving food and water out, which I have always done without problem. How much and how often should i feed my Cane Corso? I'm feeding her kibble. Other problem is she terrorizes the smaller dogs in the house. Cannot get her to stop. She just wants to play, but she is just too rough for them. The smaller dogs hate her for it. Her name is Freya. Thank you for reading this long winded comment. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    • @TheMatizyahu
      @TheMatizyahu Před 3 lety +4

      If you feeding dog a kibble leaving free acces to water is a must - they have to drink a lot when she is eating dried food. If you leaving food out and dog is eating slowly, small portions just controll how much she eated. If dog is not food driven it's ok to do that, however it might be a cause problem with food agression sometimes because you don't have literal controll over resources
      About play - all my working breeds were raised with cat or two. Depend how old she is now. You have to supervise any contact with pets. If she is high-drive, working-line dog you should just correct when she is starting to bark or "friendly bite". At the same time when you saw that Freya is laying down with other pets, plays gentle praise and reward her. In time she start to know what type of play is good and what is no bueno.
      Third - she's not hard headed. This breed is really thinking and will test you and your relationship boundaries, your character. Pushing limits and buttons is also a scenario for all molossian blood type of dogs. It's up to you to be consistent and train her by showing what is ok and what is not and by that you will have dog you want to have.
