Definitely! I've been wanting to get a transfer tank for years now. Just had a had time justifying the money. It needed to happen though! Thanks for watching!
I bought a new 50 gal tank from tsc and it had a pinhole in the side of the tank right in the middle of the steel sheet. It had a stamp that it passed a pressure test. I took back and complained about the fuel that I lost and they got the company to compensate me and ended up with a 100 gal tank. So even new can leak. I had a 300 gal tank that was on my grandpa's farm and had holes in the bottom. I wanted to cut the bottom off and weld on a new one. I don't trust my welding to not leak and could not find anyone that would fix it. We have a tank company here in town and they gave me a quote that was no much less than a new one. So several years ago I started looking for a 300 to 500 gal tank and everything looked very sketchy so I ended up getting a new one. You however have the tools to fix them. You could make some good money if you had the time to mess with them.
I've had lots of new things fail. It comes as no surprise these days. At least you got a bigger tank out of it! For what you're doing, 100gal is probably better anyhow.
Nice looking tank & improvements that you made to it. Those transfer tanks are very handy to have around on the farm. Beats the crap out of a bunch of 5 gallon cans & the issues that can cause for you. Some pretty good "Buy Beware" advise too. Thanks for sharing.
Nice find! I hope you do correct the spelling of diesel on the side! Haha! Similarly, I’m getting ready to empty and clean the fuel tanks on 12. There’s about 40 gallons of ancient diesel still in there, so I need to figure out where to put it. I plan to keep it, but polish it before putting back in the tank.
Could make a cap for that fuel spout... find some oversized hose that'll slide over the nozzle and cap the end with a bunch of tape. Use them on some gravity flow tanks, work pretty slick. Unless you know a guy, but lucky my brother works for Bobcat... they had a plastic fuel tank for a junked skidsteer that he was able to take. Cleaned it up, put a electric transfer pump, holds 30 gallons and best thing is can carry it around by hand empty. Though it isn't much, usually don't need it often but sure comes in handy for a couple days out of the year.
That's a really good idea with the hose! I'm sure I have something lying around I could use. Can't beat free! 30 gallons is enough to top ya off, and keep you rolling for sure. Beats having to road back to the farm or town to fill up!
Tank cleaning I've had a little experience doing that 🤏 I had a tractor fuel tank that has some rotten fuel in it , I tried everything from gas, paint thinner, even bought a HF cement mixer and clamped the tank in the bottom half of the mixer and used gas and a couple lbs of steel shot , ended up taking the tank to work and using there hot pressure washer with about a pint of Dawn dishwashing soap, good hot water seemed to be the best, after that I dumped a couple qts of high evap paint thinner in it swished it around and dumped it,then I dumped a quart of engine oil in it swished and dumped it,did the oil to stop the flash rust from the hot water , hopefully this helps you or someone the next time 🤔😁
Yep, it's a long process, that seems to never end! Ha ha. I like that cement mixer idea. I actually have one of the HF mixers, and it's been awesome. Put a few hundred bags though, with zero issues.
You can put a old sock on nozzle too . Save some money and buy you a automatic nozzle in the future. It’ll shut off when full, where’s this one you have will run over and make a mess . You probably already know that if so disregard! Is that a gas boy pump ?
You bet! It is a Gas Boy. I like the sock Idea. I use old socks for all kinds of things. The make great rags too. Eventually I'd like to get a 12v pump for it, in which case, I'd probably opt for the auto shut-off nozzle. Thanks for watching Scottio-o!
Good price and the 5 gallons of fuel was a bonus at todays prices! Those are handy to have, I love mine!

I need one. I see them left and right at the auctions...maybe it's my year 🤔

Thanks bud! Yeah, I'm pretty well sick of the gas can thing. They sure don't make the easy to use these days either! Ha ha

Very nice tank Chris, you have the best deal possible and ready to use it
Thank you Jan! Enjoy those new tractor tires bud!
Seems like a good buy! I have a similar setup in my garage waiting to be assembled. It's been there for months- someday I'll get to it 🤣
Ha ha!! I'm really looking forward to ditching the gas can. Especially since all my hay ground is off the farm. Look forward to seeing what you got!
A 300 dollar savings is worth the labor in my opinion
My thoughts exactly. Pretty much anything related to farming, I don't count my time on.
Like the tank Dennys .
Thank you Leo! It's gonna be nice to have.
nice looking tank buddy! i'm gonna be looking into getting one similar size.
hanks! It's sure gonna be nice to ditch the gas can. What a pain in the ass!
