This unit has been a godsend for me! It runs SO quiet that you’ll need a fan if you’re accustomed to “white noise “. This unit uses almost NO electricity with its 15.0 EER ! Blows ice cold air! Buy one today!!
Glad you're happy with it!!
Just put one in our living room. Awesome unit, so quiet which is great when my wife watches TV. ME! I don't watch TV. Highly recommend this unit. Also being on lower floor I find this is also a security issue from a regular window air conditioner, which your window is opened more wider whereas with the design of this unit is only inches. Have security bar inside to prevent someone trying to force open window.
Glad you're happy with it!!

Its not suppose to be leveled, has to be 1/4 bubble hanging {see manual and Midea install video} so water can drip out ,otherwise water will pool inside AC {condensation} and rust inside of AC and AC will stop working ,but great video showing to install foam on bracket before sitting AC on bracket, helps so much , even Midea videos don't show that .nice job ! Thanks.
Welcome! Thanks for watching!
STEP 1 - Check to make sure the unit works. Don't waste your time, like I did, installing a defective unit.
Thanks for your advice! I am sure viewers will find this helpful! cnl
Great video 📹
Wow that looks nice!
Thanks Hannah! It's one of my favorites... Use it everyday in my studio to cool off my 3 PCs and studio lights!
@@DigitalDavid we are still in chicago and in one of those old apartments. Gotta use window units. Keeping this one in mind.
Super helpful, thank you, David!
You are welcome! Thanks for watching and for the feedback!
Great Great video
Thanks!
Hi. I really like this model's design and hope it will work for me. Very helpful video. One question, my window width is like 20" - Do you think the bracket could be modified to still work? The installation guidelines say a minimum of 22 inches but I think the unit itself is only 19.17 inches so I'm hoping the bracket can be adapted...ie..drill some extra holes to shorten or? Thanks for any help. These things are hard to return so trying to get info in advance!
correction - remeasured....21" wide...so it would need to be modified by an inch
Thank you for your comment and kind words about the video. It's great to hear that you find it helpful. As for your question, it's difficult to say for sure whether the bracket could be modified to work for your 20-inch window without seeing it in person. However, drilling extra holes to shorten the bracket is a possible solution, as long as it is done carefully and safely. Keep in mind that modifying the bracket may affect the stability and safety of the installation, so it's important to exercise caution and consult with a professional if necessary. Good luck with your installation! cnl
When it rains does water comes in from the bottom sides foam, or it seals good ?....no drain hole
Never had water in. I assume that will vary depending on your setup and how you install it. I'm guessing since it has a slight downward angle any rain/water ran away from the house/window!
Looks like an elaborate installation and difficult to remove. Will you just leave the unit in the window over the winter? It looks like the window won't fully close with the bracket screwed in place.
Installing a window air conditioner can be a bit tricky, but it's important to make sure it's done properly for both efficiency and safety reasons. While leaving the unit in the window over the winter is an option, it's not recommended as it can lead to energy waste and potential damage to the unit. To remove the unit, you can simply follow the steps in reverse order. As for the bracket, some models may require the window to remain slightly open, but this should not be a significant issue as long as the unit is installed properly and securely. cnl
David, does the phone need to be at the device for the scheduled settings to work?
Nope!
Are you still using this 2 years in? Any issues water leaking on inside part? It's there any markings on how where supports rest? I'm looking at one, I'm considering using a couple small pieces of wood between house and support brackets to prevent marking the siding up.
I used it for a year with no issues and still have the unit it's just stored in my garage now since I moved my office so I'm not using at the moment!
Great video. Just opened the box. And got ready to install, only to notice my window space is massive. 46.5 inches.....
YOLO lol
Hi, I'm considering purchase of the 8000 BTU version of this unit. My wooden window sash is 1.5 inches wide. Can you tell me if this will fit within the space that it needs to drop down into in the AC? Thanks for any feedback you can provide.
I'm not positive, but I think it would be fine.. There is an amazon intl link in the video description that will have the specs/measurements for ya
~B
Mine will not go into AP mode. Pressing the connect button only beeps, but the AC does not display "AP" and the app will not connect. There is no factory reset option and Midea customer service is no help whatsoever; they keep asking about what type of phone and Wi-Fi channel when the problem is with the device itself. Now I have a "dumb" AC. Super quiet though, plus I love the fact I can tuck the curtain behind the AC to block out all the light. You can't do that with regular ACs, unless you install light blocking panels.
I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble with your Midea U Inverter Window Air Conditioner not going into AP mode. It can be frustrating when customer service isn't able to provide helpful solutions. Have you tried contacting the retailer where you purchased the AC to see if they can offer any assistance or if they can facilitate a replacement or refund? It's great to hear that you're still enjoying the AC's quiet operation and its unique design feature of being able to block out light with the curtain. cnl
Hey David, my window only opens about 13" to 14". Is that enough room to install this AC? I definitely would like to buy this AC.
I think it might be a little too big for your window unfortunately. Good luck on your search!
Thanks for watching!
~B
I dont have any issues with google assistance changing modes or other settings of the AC
That is good to know!
Thanks i just got both of my air conditioner unit it looks easy to install thanks.. i bought the 10.ooo btu unit and the remote is way different there's a digital screen amd and it looks like it has a thermostat that built into the remote... different types I guess
Mine too! We got the 2021 new version
all of the 2021 versions have the thermostat in the remote, just got my 8000 one and it also has that remote. weird that the remote seems to have a heat function, i dont think they have added a heat pump mode/valve to this ac yet
Thanks for sharing!
Hi,
I have a window that opens left to right as opposed to up and down. Do you think I can install it?
My initial reaction is to say you cannot install it in that style of window but it would be best to contact them directly for further information!
the answer is no, you cant put a window unit side-to-side even though you have a sliding window (left to right). I just damaged mine last month, remember air conditioner is also a dehumidifier, if you place it in a "C Shape" instead of "U-Shape" will definitely damage the system that relies on gravity to drain the water. so no matter the window you have is a horizontal(slide left and right) or veridical (open up and down) the top of the unit always need to face up.

It looks like there is a gap on top of block foam, because window does not fit all way down into channel. Window seems too close to front of unit to completely close into U shaped channel-so since I have similar windows-maybe I do not want a U shape design.
We didn't have any gaps when used! They give plenty of foam to help if you happen to have some with your window!
Do you have any water leakage around the air conditioner when it rains?
No which is great. Had it in my window for 7-8 months no leaks! Then took it out for winter!
have the unit support feet not to level one hole back well drain out side like ALL AIR COND,S
Hello. Can this unit remain in the window over the winter months? Thanks!!! Great review!!
Yes, Air Conditioners in general can be used during winter time and if built correctly can safety be ran 24/7.
No, this particular unit must be taken out for the winter months as there is no drain hole on the bottom of the unit, thus water staying inside and freezing if left out over winter.
I think you should be able to. Maybe BuNcH007 is right though. Not really 100% on that
~B
Is it possible to install it on a window that is wider? Mine is 39/40 inches wide, and short as well, opens the most at 12 inches, it's double hung so the bottom can be taken off. Is it possible to install in my window?
I'd have to double check the specs.. I can't really remember :( wonder if the amazon intl link in the video description would help
~B
Exelent video my friend Tks... If my window it's slide how can I do??? Thks
You'd have to see if the user manual allows for slide window installation. I don't know!
I don't think they would tell you to make it level? Shouldn't it be slightly backwards so it can drain correctly. You don't want any water draining in towards your house you'll get tons of mold and wetness on the floor.. You always tilt air conditioners backwards.. I'll be very surprised if they told you to make it level?
Idk.. Maybe you are right!
~B
It looks like the bracket drops down a little, maybe that's why they say make it level, the tilt is built in. I know I usually tilt my window air conditioners a little more just for this reason.
@@tppe1476 the manual specifically requires the AC to tilt outside. The bracket is adjustable.
@@williamwchuang You are correct, I just bought one and installed it couple days ago and yes it does tell you to tilt it. So everyone don't follow video directions to level the bracket, it needs to tilt to the outside as every other window AC. Other then leveling the bracket this video is helpful for install. Installing this is nowhere near hard as some comments I've seen in a few videos on this unit. I would say it's easier and there no drilling to the house outside, you can install from inside the house which is very helpful when installing on second floor, no ladder required. Even if you don't care if you can use the window, I would get this unit for second floor installs just for the install. I almost didn't buy this unit from reading comments on the install difficulty, I'm glad I decided to go for it, the install is a breeze.
When I seen this comment I didn't have the unit yet and seen the video showed leveling the bracket. I seen the little dip in the bracket and thought the tilt was built in to the bracket.. It is not. Lol
how did you secure the left side bracket without the window frame ?
screw or you could just rest it on the mount!
@Digital David Good video. Thanks! The gap when the window does not close flush with the foam at the top is an issue if there is a lot of rain and high winds. Any recommendations on what can be done to securely close that gap?
Thanks for watching the video and leaving a comment! You raise a good point about the potential issue of rain and wind entering through the gap created by the foam at the top of the Midea U Inverter Window Air Conditioner installation.
One option to securely close the gap is to use weatherstripping foam tape. This type of tape is designed to create a seal between two surfaces and prevent air and moisture from passing through. You could apply the foam tape to the top of the window frame before installing the air conditioner, which would help create a tight seal when the window is closed.
Another option is to use a window seal kit specifically designed for air conditioners. These kits typically include a piece of foam insulation that fits into the gap between the top of the air conditioner and the window frame, as well as a piece of adhesive-backed foam tape that can be applied to the sides and bottom of the window frame to create a tight seal.
Whichever solution you choose, it's important to ensure that the installation is secure and that there are no gaps that could allow moisture or air to enter your home. This will help maximize the efficiency of the air conditioner and prevent any potential damage from rain or wind. cnl
@@DigitalDavid Thanks for getting back. Let me try these solutions out.
No problem! Thanks again for watching and commenting!

How quiet is the outside noise once the unit is in the window?
The Midea U Inverter Window Air Conditioner is designed to be relatively quiet, with a noise level of 42 decibels. However, the actual noise level may vary depending on a number of factors, including the location of the unit, the ambient noise level in the surrounding environment, and the specific settings used. In general, the unit is designed to minimize outside noise as much as possible, so you should expect it to be relatively quiet once it is installed properly in your window. cnl
Pretty quiet, but I live in the suburbs.. Not sure how it would be in a busier area
~B
What about if your windows open / slides sideways? Do they make a product for that?
I'm sure they are out there!
~B
What about if you have a sidewindow?
Good question! The Midea U Inverter Window Air Conditioner is designed to be installed in a standard double-hung window, so if you have a side window, you may need to take some additional steps to properly install the unit.
One option is to use a window installation kit specifically designed for side-sliding windows. These kits typically include a panel that can be cut to fit the size of your window and seal the gap around the air conditioner unit. You may also need to use brackets or other hardware to secure the unit in place.
Another option is to have a professional install the unit for you, especially if you're unsure about the proper installation process for your specific type of window. They will be able to assess your space and recommend the best installation method for your needs.
It's important to ensure that the air conditioner is properly installed and sealed to prevent air leaks and maximize its efficiency. cnl
Does it have an option for fresh air or the air is recirculated?
Great question! The Midea U Inverter Window Air Conditioner typically operates by recirculating the air within the room. While it might not have a dedicated "fresh air" mode like some HVAC systems, you can manually open a window alongside the air conditioner to introduce outdoor air into the room.
Keep in mind that recirculating air can help maintain a more consistent temperature and humidity level indoors, which can be particularly beneficial in controlling the cooling efficiency. However, if you're looking for a constant influx of fresh outdoor air, you might need to consider a ventilation system or alternative cooling solutions that prioritize outdoor air intake. cnl
How did you find the Midea app on alexa it’s not there eny more
I just search Midea and it populated the result!
seems to be only for windows that open vertically, if your window opens horizontally you cant use this
I think you're probably right
~B
is this ac unit quiet? i record audio in my room and need a unit quiet enough to not b too disturbing
Yes! Best one I have found!!?
its easily the quietest window ac you will find, but depending on how close you are to your AC it will still probably be too loud if you want a very clean recording. personally i wouldnt record with it on but if you arent too picky its not too bad. if its just maintaining the temperature and the fan is low than it is super quiet
@@StarmanDX picked one up, its nice , wish it offered more then 3 fan speeds
My wife had to dismantle the clip where you put the form , somebody at the assembly put the clip backwards it would not click in place .
Glad you got it fixed!
What's the point of this ac? Advantages & disadvantages to a standard window unit ac?
way quieter, inverter style (meaning it can vary how hard the compressor works- 99% of window ACs just turn off or 100% on, nothing in between), slightly better thermal and sound isolation since more of the window is closed than with a standard window ac, and you can see slightly more around the AC than with a normal window AC. if you wanna go through the trouble you can technically open the window if its nice outside, but you will have to deal with removing and reinstalling the window sash foam.
disadvantages are that it takes way longer to install and will likely be annoying to remove for the winter, but beyond that I legitimately can't think of any.
Such a great answer @starman!!
See other comment!
So you don't have to screw the feet in??
It is not required, but they have holes you can use to screw it to the wall if you like.
That's correct! The Midea U Inverter Window Air Conditioner comes with an innovative design that doesn't require any screws to install the feet. The feet are designed to easily snap onto the bottom of the unit and provide a sturdy base for the air conditioner. This feature can make installation much easier and faster, without the need for any additional tools or hardware. It's great to see that Midea has made the installation process more convenient for their customers. cnl
Is this good ?
Mines been running daily since the video and it is fantastic!!!
8:00 tell me again why you went past the window?
Just to extend it further than the window in the off chance everything fell it wouldn't fit though and fall out the window!

Good product. Don’t use this video for installing, though.
😭😭😭
Problem is if you move and the rooms only have horizontal windows then you have no use for it and for the price you are paying it is not worth it.
That's a valid point. The Midea U Inverter Window Air Conditioner is designed specifically for vertical sliding windows, so it may not be suitable for every living situation. It's important to consider your home's window types before purchasing an air conditioner. cnl
Please use anti-tipping.
I think it's recommended to adjust unit so window does not touch when opened or closed.
I'm disappointed that they didn't put the dense foam in your box.
good advice!

Because the window itself is in the U channel the window contributes to the a/c stability
