    My wife's apple crumble is terrific but no amount of talking about it is going to prove that. Likewise knowing Jesus is an experience which no amount of debating the big bang or historical accuracy of the bible is going to prove. Do what I did, read the book, go to church and ask the Lord to reveal himelf to you....It worked for me!

      If we could prove God's existence and ability, it wouldn't require faith and without faith it's impossible to please God.

    I found Jesus four years ago and back then rather quickly found this video, and I find it such a comfort to revisit. Thank you brother, for the beautiful testimony and your lovely soothing voice, that of one of the first Christians I properly listened to. I was skeptical about the fantastical spiritual gifts you mentioned, but no, God has proven to me also His abundant love and faithfulness. May the Lord bless you and keep you. ❤️ Much love from Wales.

    Fair point. The parable of Adam and Eve shows us our condition that as a species we have said to God, ‘We can do without you.’ God honours that choice. It is now Man’s responsibility to stop evil not God’s. We would all like God to be like Superman and help us out then leave us alone but God's way is to enter the willing human heart. Also a third of the angels fell becoming demons leaving the angels short staffed and facing a new threat. Sadly life is a war and there will be casualtiues.

    Hi David, Belief will come after you experience a number of these Godincidences. Those who seek will always be rewarded. You may be holding back as deep down you probably have already worked out that the implication of believing is that some things in you life will have to go. For me it was an obsession with wargaming, Jesus is after all the Prince of Peace! You may also have to walk away from some relationships. Believing is hard but following can be even harder

    John, I'm an atheist and have been all my life (just approaching my 75th year). My late wife, Janet, was a firm believer. Many people who met us often gave us an odd look as if to say "How CAN they be so close when Alan has no belief whatsoever and Jan is a confirmed Christian." It was never any problem for us during the 47 years of our marriage. I found this quiet monologue of yours very interesting and - as with all your usual uploads - very calm and gentle. Many thanks.

My father's grandfather had told my father ( many years ago) that the spirit of a Native American/ Red Indian Chief was attached to our family. I was aware of this as a child and I used to be afraid that I may wake up during the night to see the 'Chief' standing at the bottom of my bed ! Well , when we went up to our bedrooms that same night there was a white feather on the floor at the bottom of my parent's bed ! LOL

I broke my leg 3 years ago and I was out of action for 7 months. I started to read the Bible also and was converted, God dealt with me! I gave up the music then, but now I feel God is leading me back to the music, FOR HIS GLORY, not for mine this time round! I spoke with you on your other vids about guitars. I haven't played now for a few years but I want to get an acoustic and learn some worship songs + hymns. Im so glad I found your channel, God works in wonderful ways. Greetings John. Belief is not difficult if one is raised in the tradition...but how do you deal with the problem of evil? Even Augustine grappled with it, but most of us are not Augustine.

    • @JohnCouplandguitar
      @JohnCouplandguitar  Před 6 lety

      The questions of, 'Why does God allow evil?' and, 'Why do we have free will?' are linked. If we can accept the idea that this life is just, 'Selection School,' to find those who are fit to be God's companions then both Evil and Free Will are essential. Without the option of rejecting evil, you cannot claim to be good and without the option of rejecting good you cannot be accused of being evil. Thus evil is used to expose our true nature. Luke 16:10-11 'The man who can be trusted in little things can be trusted also in great things. If then you have not proved trustworthy with the wealth of this world, who will trust you with the wealth that is real? (i.e. Salvation).
      John

    • @adrian_V99
      @adrian_V99 Před 6 lety

      Thanks for the prompt reply, John. I should have been more clear, but it's been many years since my philosophy of religion studies- I am talking about evil in the sense of natural disasters that take Innocent lives, or the holocaust. We're back to the problem of a supposedly omnipotent, all-knowing God who nonetheless permits evil and destruction to be visited upon innocent creatures. We are living through a similar holocaust these days with the lives of innocents being taken by the enemies of Christ (or of the Christ, for even an idea deeply embedded into the psyche works upon one's behaviour). Perhaps an unfair question which cannot even be answered satisfactorily by the leading minds at Oxford , Cambridge, or Edinburgh for that matter. I have rationalized it all by believing that it is what happens to the soul which is paramount, not what happens to the body. A risible answer in the world of academia or in the secular, materialistic one. Arthur Koestler may have had it right- man is spirit trapped in a machine. One thing is certain,as you stated, 'one cannot do better than Christ".

    • @JohnCouplandguitar
      @JohnCouplandguitar  Před 6 lety

      Being a simple soul I do not see suffering as a mystery. As a race we choose independence from God so God respects our choice and keeps his distance. Just as a pain tells you something is wrong with your body so these disasters tell us something is wrong with our relationship with God. God does sometimes step in. About 2 years ago he was prompting me to let him get closer but I was cautious and needed a sign. He did 2 things, first when we returned from a holiday we found our front door wide open! Talk about a visual aid, no sign of forced entry and nothing missing. Basically he was saying, 'Just try and keep me out.' Next the M.E. which I had was healed overnight. On the 18th anniversary to the day of catching it. He is not the National Health Service but he will use healings to make a point which is what Jesus did during his time on Earth.

  • @Sm-iw2vh
    @Sm-iw2vh Před 6 lety +2

    Hi John
    Love your videos, I must admit I struggle with all forms of religion, I wish I was smart enough to grasp it but gods ways just seem far to complex for me.
    Did your prayer close down the pub business then? Did God decide that to give you your guidance he needed to negatively affect others to do so..... Couldn't he just send a "vision" not make others loose their place of work?
    With the kitchen disaster, is a washing machine truly something he will step in to help with over say a one year old with cancer? Does he care for what is essentially a materialistic item?
    Is God all powerful?
    I just can't get my head around the logic.

    • @JohnCouplandguitar
      @JohnCouplandguitar  Před 6 lety

      Hi Steve, good questions. The publican chose a path that would lead to him losing his licence, God merely used that circumstance to direct me onto a new path. What God did do was to give me the exact words for the prayer which would later match the circumstances. The kitchen disaster's purpose was to build up my trust in God. It is far easier to brave letting him, 'Posses,' you with the Holy Spirit if you already know he is trustworthy in practical matters. Regarding all suffering remember that, as a species, we have told God to **** off and mind his own business so we cannot complain when he does just that. God always heals for the building up of his Kingdom. E.G. his healing me of M.E. on the 18th anniversary of catching it was not so much for my comfort but as a further sign that he was at work in me.

    • @Sm-iw2vh
      @Sm-iw2vh Před 6 lety

      @@JohnCouplandguitar thanks John. I guess even if I could believe I still can't justify worshipping a god like this. To have the ability to heal for example a terminally ill child and yet turn away,this to me is not the behaviour of an all powerful and good god.
      I do however of course respect your decision to do so and to discuss your faith.

    Fascinating and well argued BUT It's not just about Christians and Atheists. There are also intelligent people (eg Agnostics) who accept that there very likely is more to existence than the shallow material day-to-day apparent reality (Matrix fans too :) ) without having to accept the lunatic ravings of what primitive MAN has dreamed up back in days of ignorance. Still it is not my intention to undermine what works for you and your guitar reviews are certainly heavenly!

      @JohnCouplandguitar  Před 7 lety +2

      Thanks for the comments. I went through the agnostic stage where I thought, 'Good moral teachings if only we could get rid of the mumbo jumbo.' Then, as I say in the video, a whole lot of supernatural events forced me to reconsider. To the atheist the bible says, 'The fool says in his heart there is no God,' but to the agnostic, 'Seek and you will find.' There is no independent proof of God for, like an exam, you cannot simply be handed the answer, you have to work it out for yourself.
      God bless.

    Interesting. Does the problem of evil bother you? God just appears so absent when he is needed most. He gave you visions and a better quality of life but he didn't seem to care when a girl in my neighborhood was raped and ended up being cut up and found in a dumpster.Also, you say God gives you armor for the battle but he created the battle to begin with.He essentially stabbed us and said "take this cure...if you don't you'll burn in hell." That's terrible! Not attacking you I'm just asking.

      Don’t blame God for the evil in this world - see the evil in this world is because of those who live against Him. God has given everyone freedom of choice to repent of their sins or not to. Just because He allows all things, it doesn’t mean He approves and also, just because evil is present, it doesn’t mean that God isn’t. Have you repented of your evil?

    Budism is older, Hinduism is much much older. Cristianism is a mix copy of older religions.

    • @JohnCouplandguitar
      @JohnCouplandguitar  Před 8 lety

      +João Genial The reason for similarities and recurring themes in religions is that in every culture, those with spiritual insight, are seeing into eternity. In other words they are getting a foggy glimpse of Jesus' life and interpreting it according to their own culture and level of understanding. God coming as man in Jesus is a bit like a stone being thrown into the stream of time, the ripples go backwards and forwards, affecting the past and the future. The further from Jesus you get, the weaker the ripples and less accurate the picture of God.

    •  Před 8 lety

I have seen demons, been visited by an angel, healed overnight of a disease I had on the 18th anniversary of catching it. Try to get a modern translation of the bible and read Mark's gospel. Perhaps even attend a church and be prepared for the Lord to speak for it is a journey worth the risk.
