Have you dreamed of arguing matters before the court? Is the thrill of litigation same as portrayed in the Jolly LLB and “Tareekh Pe Tareekh” movies?
Does litigation work more on the principles of Murphy’s law-whatever can go wrong will go wrong, will go wrong? What challenges do litigation lawyers face in their initial years?
To answer these questions, today we have with us Mr. S.N. Thyagarajan, on An Hour With LawSikho. An alumnus of ILS Law College, Pune, he is working as an Associate with BSM Legal. Prior to that he has worked with Karanjawala & Co . He has been a litigation lawyer for five years now and has worked extensively in matters related to DRT, company laws and arbitration.

Mr Tyagrajan can talk about his weaknesses with so much of ease. I am amazed by his honesty.

Respect everyone in the court irrespective of their colleges. Do not indulge in office politics in your first two years. The prime focus should be on learning to draft. Be ready for rejections. Always be prepared with the case before appearing in the court.

Do all sorts of matters but don't forget to specialize in a particular field.

The problem is that good, liberal chambers are difficult to get into.. in Bombay, all chambers are full and seniors don't help you. Because of this, juniors either go independent or leave practice once and for all.
