Just an FYI: I've seen a couple of other folks do the swap, they swap one scale at a time. That way, they don't have to fully disassemble the knife.

Gotta get a Deka
That tool is a life saver, I’ve struggled several times swapping scales on my bugout. Trying to align the hole and washers and axis cage. I need some og goat scales for my deca.

Yeah, I’ve been carrying it a lot now that it has these scales on it. It’s still a pretty damn good deal. Magnacut Deka for around $130, scales for around $76

Just did this yesterday and the only problem I had was getting the pivot back in. That was resolved by a tip from the Nick Shabazz video on disassembling this knife. Also no need to remove the barrel spacers. Just swap the show side scale first, then remove pivot and do the other side. The trick is when replacing the pivot, cut one tip off a Q Tip and use it to hold the axis lock switch open, with the blade out. It's pretty easy. Your work tray is awesome and I'm getting one. Also really like the milling pattern on your scales. This time I got the OG1 and live them but next time I'm trying those diagonal lines.

Great timing, I ordered a set last week and just waiting for them to ship. Couldn’t decide between the ones you got and the ‘Expanded’ scales, ended up getting the ‘Expanded’ with a backspacer. Can’t wait until mine shows up. Your disassembly video is more informative and useful plus you didn’t damage the knife, but isn’t nearly as entertaining as the ones that Tristate_edc does. 😉

Do u know if there is a site I can buy scales in the UK. I love the houge deka among others. It's just great but heavier scales would make it feel perfect. Great i can watch this to keep me right wen i need to take apart. They scales u have are proper NICE 👌🏻🏴👍

The scales look Great! I am going to add a Lynch titanium clip to mine, the stock clip is proud of the scales at the end.
I tend to snag this style of clip and bend it.. The CZcams channel "Sharp Ends" has a great video on improving the action on the knife.

I have the Deka with blue G-mascus and even those scales are kinda bleh to me. These OG aluminums look so sweet. Getting that pivot back in can be a lot more fidgety, you got lucky! 😆

Thanks for posting! Installed mine today, stone gray expanded with the black wharny blade. Ooo la la. Completely different knife, it really did feel cheap and toy like - that “polymer” was not a good choice by Hogue, but the blade is glorious. The OG scales are extremely well done, perfect fit and finish. Anyway, thanks for the vid and the hack, I was able to stick a paracord fid in the pivot hole and it made things easy. ‘Preciate ya.

Hogue Deka is a total Bugout killer. I absolutely hate my Bugout. And seeing how thick the cartridge liners are in my Deka just made it worse.

@@doodysdaggers I have a Bugout that I got to swap scales on. When I got it the action was awful, blade was off center, and not really sharp. Swapped scales and carefully polished and cleaned the washers, and it's still the same. I'm thinking today I may put the original scales back on it, so I can send it back to Benchmade to see if they can make it operate properly. I bought it brand new from Optics Planet a few months ago.
@@hificat101 hmm yeah it could be defective. If you have lubed the pivot, adjusted the pivot screw tension, and it’s still off center and not smooth, I’d maybe send it back
