he really didnt appologize. J-Cole litterally said that he didnt want to ruin the relationship with K-Dot which is reasonable but i wanted the competition as well. J Cole needs to go the Andre 3000 route if he wants to escape the toxicity of hip-hop.
You can’t be mad at him. Cole is for the people, he knew this rap beef was causing a huge buzz in the media and he definitely felt the pressure to respond, he probably didn’t want to but he did anyways because people care more about their own entertainment than the artists well being. I’m sure he saw this more as a distraction from his main purpose in his life/career and didn’t want to cause a divide in the rap community by having people pick sides. Causing a bigger controversy among the fans.
I got to call BS on this. J. Cole spent the entirety of Kendrick’s hiatus, talking shit. Then he goes and actively make fps with Drake. Him backing out like this after talking all that shit makes him either look like a bitch or fake either or it’s not a good look. It definitely does make sense that way. He only references 4 total albums. So one of his five studio albums has to be left out of the equation. The only one that isn’t up for debate is Mr. Morale (because it’s his last album)
Personally it makes sense to me that he would leave out Section 80. (Even tho it’s a classic) GKMC is a masterpiece to most critics and the general public and nobody is really debating that….TPAB on the other hand is way more controversial on it being overhyped and gassed up more than it should, just look at any comment section discussing the album, it’s extremely divided. So it would make sense that Cole would take a jab at that album that gets the exact same criticism (he referenced) from kendricks fans.
