20? Pretty sure that maxed out at 6 haha. If he'd tripled the carts to 15, you'd be looking at 18fps, so uh... nearly there lol
That actually wouldn't be a bad frame rate in the least. The movie was 24fps, so you would only be losing 4 frames, a lot of scenes in terms of motion would have little actual quality lost. Nah fam, we're watching it at a silky smooth 6fps as our lord and savior Christopher Nolan intended.
Should be watched on a Game Boy micro the way Nolan intended.

Somewhere out there is someone writing up a version of this that links to an off-the-shelf h.265 decoder, for the absolute cleanest, feature-length 240x160 video stream you can get.

Not sure if GBA could handle it, but if you could put some ARM SOC on a cartridge which just outputs the video... Hmmm...
I'll try to shoehorn an AV1 decoder into a GBA. AV1 codec is more efficient than H.265, plus it's free đđ€Ł
@@doctordothraki4378 At first I was like, "That's impossible! Even my m1 Mac chugs like 20w for AV1! Then I realized that was at 8K. With the screen on. At 280p, downscaling to 140p, you could probably fit the whole thing in under a watt with macroblock-free playback. XD

there were full movie gba video cartridges, but they used a totally different memory system that as far as i know still hasnt been fully reverse engineered, the shrek movie is still impossible to emulate as a result

Converting videos to a GBA viewable format with Meteo is something I've enjoyed for years. I've been slowly (yes, very slowly) converting a certain series to be entirely watchable on a GBA with an EverDrive or EZ Flash Omega.
What are you using to convert the video to AVI?

lol i cant believe youve been working on this for a while and figured it out, ive been looking thru all kinds of software to force shows and movies to work on gba forever after finding an old forum where people would fit full movies on gba, and upload the roms online. of course since it was so old i couldnt find anything there. this stuff is super difficult, thanks for sharing it tho, now i can finally watch a movie on my gba micro lol
Ironically if anything it probably would have been worse to see Tenet in theatres even if there wasnât a pandemic because of how shit the audio quality is. The movie basically needs to be watched with subtitles on.
