- Million dollar mistake. It seemingly happens once or twice a season to a big name player who had the game in the bag, until they blew it. Today we are looking at 5 times this happened on Survivor.

What’s funny is if Woo was a few seconds slower at the challenge, Kass takes him and he wins.
I think kass has actually said she would’ve taken Tony bc she knew she couldn’t win against either and wanted the better player to win. She also said she thought a her v Tony FTC would’ve been epic. I’m pretty sure this is from her jury speaks vid.
Yeah kass definitely doenst do this and banks on a bitter jury to win against Tony.

Watching Woo throw it all away, was crazy. Though Tony did a good job convincing him.
I love the subdued reaction that Jeff has when reading Kasses name on that vote. Even he can’t believe how dumb Woo’s move was.
The worst move of all time has to go to Woo. He was at the Final 2, he won the final immunity and instead of taking Kass, someone who everyone hated, he took Tony, who controlled most of the game.
The most amazing thing about that decision is that he potentially still loses due to giving a all time terrible tribal council.

If miney is the most important thing inyour world then yes he made a mistake BUt clearly he isnt ruled by money and was fine with winning 100k and keeping his word.
the idea of Woo having a shot here was bullshit. If he chooses Kass, it was an easy victory and people wouldn't vote for him, if he did what he did they give it to tony.
Being one immunity win away from winning doesn't count as robbing yourself. At best it might count as failing yourself, but this video title is definitely a misnomer.
Cirie didn't rob herself in Micronesia. Production robbed Cirie with the surprise final two. It's a shame because it was unnecessary. There are other ways to deal with production disruptions due to quits or medevacs. They could have made the final four immunity challenge a reward challenge with the winner getting an advantage in the final immunity challenge. The challenge that they used in Micronesia was the same one they used in Philippines. They could have just given Amanda the same advantage Malcolm had.
Indeed, it's not Cirie's fault that they changed the rules on her at the last minute.
Production didn't rob Cirie. She simply didn't adapt.
They had to vote someone off on day 38 It was due to all the medevacs and quits that they had to change it. Also people get screwed over by twists all the time, it's about being able to adapt. And Cirie being bad at challenges is her own fault.
My dad despite liking tony was so mad he told me the shut off the TV when Woo picked Tony instead of Chaos Kass
I believe Sarah cost herself a million dollars in WAW. She took Ben out at Final five instead of Michele. At final four Natalie wins and puts Tony and Ben in fire where Ben obviously beats Tony. Sarah has so many jury votes there. I think she lost a million dollars based on that move at final five…
I think Sarah was banking on how she could get more votes than Tony, when she should have been finding a way to get Tony out. The best way to do that is use Ben’s fire skills against him.

Terry in Exile Island was the first time I was genuinely heartbroken for a survivor getting robbed. That final challenge wasn’t properly made for the variety in height/weight of the final 3.
If you’re playing survivor correctly you shouldn’t be banking on challenges to make it through votes

You should include Carolyn for sure. If she got out Yam Yam at final 5 then I definitely could’ve seen her winning.
Interesting to think about. The other players gave her zero credit the entire time so probably they wouldn’t give her credit for that either. But then Yam Yam and Carson would be on the jury so she would have both of their votes.

Kass deserved more credit. The chaos approach was brilliant and it was constantly causing paranoia and shifting.
Except that all she did was flip on the Aparri alliance and then cozy up to Solana.
Kass is so bad because she dramatically reduced any possibility she had of winning. And literally no one knows why. Spencer and Tasha were shifty players in their own right and likely wouldve opted to take Kass over another challenge beast
I’d say she was strategic but she had the worst social game

I was so mad at Woo for taking Tony that I didn’t watch the final tribal for a few years 🙄

Probably gets voted out relatively early due to being a recent player and having a massive target on his back

I'm surprised Malcolm didn't make this list. He had won three straight immunities coming into the last 4 and, had he won that last one, he would have won the season. Not only did he lose, he had two chances thanks to an advantage

Malcolm was never winning that challenge though. On the whale shark reward he talked about having shaky hands, which is the kiss of death in that challenge.
I had a feeling that woo would stay loyal to tony, he was just that type of personality. And the person I least wanted to win won, thanks woo.
Definitely agree about Woo. That's my number 1 person's mistake for winning the game at the end. Also, Colby.

How does Tony’s win drastically change the seasons after Cagayan?
Tony winning makes him a huge threat in Game Changers causing him to be voted out second and letting Sarah shine in Game Changers. Woo is also cast for Cambodia Second Chance. Tony learns from his gameplay in Game Changers and learns to lower his threat level and gameplay, leading him to win Winners at War and the second two time winner
If Woo takes Kass, Tony is likely on the ballot for Second Chance, likely gets on, but has such a big threat that he likely does not win that season

I know he had other issues in Samoa, but I think Russell’s Million Dollar Mistake was voting out Shambo.
Jaison too, nobody on the jury respected Jaison or Mick. He should have gone to the end with some combination of Shambo/Mick/Jaison. Kind of can't blame him for not realizing that Natalie was a threat to him winning though.

Woo’s decision is tragic. I love how self aware Kass is. She really wanted Woo to win.
If Wu takes Kass instead of Tony, the season that seemed to be finally dispelling the unwelcome spirit of the Dark Ages that had dragged on for years ends with this frenetic, brilliant player who was making the whole thing possible denied his well-deserved and extremely satisfying victory by a last-minute rule change. The same thing that had happened to Cirie, but at least back then Parvati was a worthy champion in her own right. Tony sitting in the jury box needing to choose between two also-rans would be a bitter pill to swallow that would sap away the good will the season had earned at a point in history where it desperately needed to build on that momentum. So let's stop abusing poor Wu for not denying us the very thing we complain we don't see enough (the best player at FTC), he may have saved the show.
I think if Brett had won, not only would the season have been edited differently... he would've been in HvV on the Heroes tribe and they would've played up Brett vs Russel round two in the marketing.
I think in a universe where woo is in winners at war instead of tony, we might see michelle become a 2 time winner!
Season 20 - Amanda handing the idol clue back to Danielle ranks up here too! She should have kept it and told Danielle to jump in the ocean and let her fun bags drift her away from the island!
Even with the idol, Amanda survives 1 more round. But 90% chance she still gets voted out next

Ozzy didn’t really rob himself in SoPa. He lost a challenge, that’s not his fault. If he had thrown the challenge, then yes, he would have robbed himself, but he didn’t. He tried to win, he just couldn’t pull it off
Same goes for Brett
And Cirie
Woo, Ozzy, and Erik were people I really wanted to see win. I mean it's because Ozzy that really switched the game to getting rid of challenge beasts before the merge, Erik made a dumb decision and was so close to winning his second season, and woo was just a cool guy that I was rooting for for the beginning.

I don’t think it’s fair to count challenge losses as “blowing it” unless they threw the challenges or made some sort of horrible strategic blunder during. What could they have done differently, decided to be better at the challenge?
They were one challenge from winning it all easily. To me that is blowing it.
I suppose it’s semantics. Still, I don’t consider final challenge chokes (Cirie, Brett) in the same league as idiotic decisions (Woo, Erik, etc.)

He didn’t say changed the game. He said Tony winning had drastic consequences for the show. If Woo wins Cagayan instead of Tony, then we likely see Tony on Cambodia instead of Woo, and Woo ends up on Winners at War.

I feel like Wu wouldn't have been able to justify other than " Wut like hello it's either me or Kass like...." like somewhere he felt bad if he can't explain.. to him winning challenges was the cream on top. .not being favored over another player.. I think that means taht Wu makes decisions with his heart, and am not judgin him. It took me a long time to know there are people like that . I mean look at Tony.. he wouldn't bat an eye if he had to win a million dollars..

It wasn’t slightly. Woo didn’t have a chance at winning against Tony because everyone loved Tony. Against Kass, Woo was a lock to win. Voting out Tony would take Woo from a 0% chance to a 100% chance of winning.
