"Key players are ditching embattled Oakland Mayor Sheng Thao as her administration and legal team convulse following an FBI raid on her house last week.
Over the last two days, following a fiery speech she gave declaring her innocence, Thao lost her personal lawyer as well as the head of communications for her administration. A former chief of staff, who resigned in 2022, has called on the mayor to resign, noting that she quit because of a pay-to-play scandal involving Thao's administration.
"It says a lot when you have people of this caliber abandoning you," Bay Area public relations specialist Sam Singer said. "The city of Oakland is in full crisis mode and on the verge of collapse. The instability of Sheng Thao's administration and the inaction of the City Council is of deep concern."*

To be fair, the Duong family has been donating money to different politicians since the 1990's up to the present. That's like 30 years long or so. So what happened to all others who also received money over the years? Sheng Thao is just one out of many, many others before her.

Ana, I agree. She definitely knows why the FBI raided her house. Playing dumb like that on national tv is just ludicrous. It was also a mistake of catastrophic proportions for her to go on that news conference, for which her atty dropped her. That was a major mistake and made her look even more guilty. She should have stayed quiet and presented her evidence in court

One needs to ask, as of the airing of this episode what are the charges on Sheng Thao? Yeah, still no charges yet. So why are TYT presuming guilt?
Because the FBI does not raid your house without evidence and building a case first.
There's been a recall campaign due to the increase in major crime to the point that the city is unsafe, and businesses were suffering huge losses. firing the chief of police and then not replacing him for over a year, missing a critical deadline for federal aid, illegal trash dumping and litter, homeless encampments, literally thousands of abandoned cars.
The crime in the area such as robberies, business break-ins, and shootings was so bad Gov Newsom sent like 100 CHP to patrol and help them. The state shouldn't have to do this.
Her excuse has always been that she is new and needs time, blames others and then gets emotional. Oakland needs a strong take charge, find solutions, type mayor. Someone that grew up in the community and has a better understanding of the issues.
If we are going to bring up ethnicity, then Oakland being probably half African American could probably benefit from someone local of that background.
Always vote local and only vote for people who hate bribes and gifts , if such a person exists in our hyper capitalist society.

They forgot to explain how bad a mayor she supposedly is. It's also kind of confusing on the voter accusation stuff, because Oakland's ranked choice voting makes it less clear who is going to win as well as makes elections closer.

Just like any village leaders, one after the next, are any better. Once money is involved, there's always some type of corruption happening. Jerry Brown was Mayor and his corruption is unparalleled. Jerry had the whole city running an operation, the redevelopment department and the police department were federally indicted. His chief of staff was sued for catfishing and arsoning victims of crime who were secondary victims of
police and and DA misconduct. Doxing, assault, arson plus plus more. There was also Don Perata who did not get elected but held various power jobs and ran for Mayor of Oakland while under active Federal Investigation. Behind all of this is a force that has been in play for a long time. The whole place is a crime scene she was probably doing something idk but what she was doing was on par or maybe not as horrible as what the entire political administrative division is doing.
