    Kayla DiCello has gained a lot of confidence competing at the college level. Being used to competing at big events becomes a regular thing. The nerves go away and it brings calm confidence. Big advantage competing elite.

    Kayla's beam went perfectly with the floor music!

    Kayla really did slay this whole competition. It’s a little nerve wracking, because she is so similar to Leanne and I want Leanne to make the team, but I would love Kayla too also. Kayla has a real shot this time around.

      @eliseperron1928 Před 3 měsíci +5

      I can see a world where they may take both Leanne and Kayla. Especially because some of our event specialists aren’t doing too well at the moment. Ex: Suni’s health and inconsistency, Jades inconsistency and joscelyn injury. They took Jordan and grace last quad and both those girls were AA with no one strong event.

      @@eliseperron1928 Very very unlikely that they'll take both. Only way that would happen is if Kayla is strong enough to actually be an event specialist with medal chances (probably floor I'd think), or if Leanne brings a good cheng and Jordan and Skye don't--USAG has said they want three chengs on the team if possible.
      As far as specialists, Jade's consistency on vault has never flagged, even when she was struggling last season, so I wouldn't count her out just yet, though she's certainly not a lock. And I would read absolutely zero into Suni's falls at Winter Cup, she's only been back in the gym full time for six weeks, and her pattern is that she tends to get stronger and stronger throughout the season. One bad meet does not make for inconsistency, and I would not describe Suni as inconsistent at all. I don't think Josc's chances are great unless she really cleans up her Cheng; Jordan's DTY outscored Josc's cheng in 2023, so Josc's doesn't bring anything.

      @@erinm9445 jades consistency on vault *has* flagged. She scored a 13.7 at the Swiss cup this year. We have multiple athletes who can score higher than that with a DTY. We also saw her form suffer domestically last year, with a bronze overall finish at us champs when she had others beat by multiple tenths in difficulty.
      Suni is more in question than counted out. With her health, it’s hard to say whether or not she’s a reliable in.
      Josc to me, has always been dare I say… overrated. I’d rather take a Leanne or a Kayla over a Josc knowing that judges value form and artistry.
      When you eliminate all of those- there aren’t many other front runners to take accept Leanne, Kayla and Skye/Jordan (who is terribly inconsistent). All 4 are more positioned as AAers. So I feel like they may have to go that route regardless

      @@eliseperron1928 I'm not sure what was happening at Swiss cup, but she was either sick, or was intentionally not bringing her all. If you look at how she did during the actual 2023 season, her vaults were great except for one freak hand slip.

    • @eliseperron1928
      @eliseperron1928 Před 3 měsíci +1

      @@erinm9445 “great” is a relative term. US field is deep. If you’re getting bronze on an event within your country that you’re counted on getting gold on internationally… the shoe doesn’t fit anymore.

    Skye looked so good on beam here. If she’d been credited with all her connections I think she’d be at like a 6.3 (idk what the FHS + front tuck + split jump + wolf jump is). If she goes to Paris and hits, she could absolutely medal. I hope they can find a few more tenths of difficulty to add because it’s not high even for her beam to lock in a medal if she hits

      The problem with Skye is she’s inconsistent when it matters. The last two worlds she’s fallen. In a 3 up 3 count situation if she can’t hit that doesn’t help team USA. Needs to prove she can hit when it matters

Hers looked just as powerful and clean as Skye's but with better landing, while Kayla has a little less height/distance than the others plus those messy knees. All the girls made a lot of mistakes throughout their routines. It looks like everyone needs a lot of practice before the Championship and Olympic tryouts. At least do the routines without all those balance checks and obvious mistakes so that the best routines will be viewed at the Olympics. Come on girls, this is your livelihood. Do better than your best!
