I love how this show is just two friends making music.
It's cute.
@@Makker_1did you just reply to yourself lol
Literally what I was thinking the entire time and had to come comment but boom I'm not the only one thinking it haha
And one friend behind one camera and another friend on the mixing board and another friend on the other camera and… yeah it’s just two friends. 😜
Very deep thought, bro.
ALL OF THE SONGS FROM SONIC BOOM CAN BE AN ENTIRE EP AND I WOULD LISTEN TO IT
Well they’re all singles, you could make a playlist 😄
I know it's only a short song but would you be able to release Bangers And Mash too?
@@MongerOfStrings8222 It's too short for streaming services to allow it as a single :( but we'll include it in a compilation down the line I'm sure!
@@andrewhuangI thought it was because you said "Any restaurant who wants to use this when someone orders bangers and mash, feel free to use it." I thought it was a copyright thing.
@@andrewhuangJust copy Bangers and Mash and paste it in twice, title the new track 'Bangers and Mash, Going Back for Seconds', and then you're golden for streaming! 😅
I love that everyone recognized that you two had struck gold, and that the timer didn't matter. What mattered was making a good song.
no the challenge mattered
@@braidynchapman okay, you can do the challenge if you'd like
@@chobbis3 Im good, thanks for the suggestion, but I turn it down ;)
@@braidynchapman too bad your opinion doesnt matter
@@blchfnby too bad I don't give a fuck and this is social media where nobodies opinion should matter to you. next time you reply to a half-month-old comment, say something more clever
Rob IMMEDIATELY goes to midwest emo vibe when starting a new song and I'm up for it all the way
I was hoping for pacific northwest emo, buuut midwest emo is more accessible so i get it. It’s cool.
dude i thought that same thing LOLL
@@SwogFrogbro what’s that
@@filiphelset872 Death Cab vibes

"It's like someone you love but they have flaws but you really love them anyaway" ~Rob Scallon , 2023.
Words to live by.
If it weren't for the flaws, it wouldn't be love.
When i was in elementary school, my best friend told me that the definition of a friend is someone who knows everything about you and still likes you anyway
@@davidfranklin5434 I thought this quote couldn't get better but you've gone and done it
definitely worth the overtime, what a touching song
Thanks for continuing to do what you love doing, it definitely shows and we really appreciate both you and Rob.
Thanks so much! Always trying to spread the love of music!
this is a master class in writing a tear jerker. every song writer should save this video and refer back when they need to write something heart felt
The potential for music is endless! This gives me confidence to just make a bunch of stuff and see what happens
That’s the way!
You broke the no kissing rule?!!!!
No hugging with shirts off rule?
Sus
Haha. That was never a rule 😂
Keep watching to find out!
I can't believe they broke the no marrying rule
I wouldn't say "Challenge Failed" You could very easily finish the song in the time you had. But you chose to give the song the justice it deserved. 👍
"Task failed successfully" :D
I love to see you guys recognizing the moment and losing a timer. I feel like the timer is a great tool to force the inspiration, but if you feel you don't need anymore, then you just don't
I really like the idea of making shorter songs like you were talking about, a little nap. No song structure, no rules. Just a vibe, a few lyrics, or not, and about 45 -90 seconds. When I was making music I was going to try to make an albums of shorter songs like that. They are like poems to me while a full song is a book.
Please don’t stop making these, they’re amazing
yeah but permanently lose the timer.. :D give yourselves some space to do your magic
I've been moved by this song like I haven't been moved in months, years even.
This made me cry so much. It's been almost four months since I lost the person who was my safe place. Listening to this brings back memories of some of our conversations.
Well done on making something so emotive and beautiful guys.
i'm sorry, i hope you're doing better now
Your comment made me cry!
I'm sorry for your loss.
Sending you a big comforting hug!!
As someone who rewatches ALL the first of October videos once every few weeks, getting content with you guys throughout the entire year is such a treat. Truly special videos to look forward to every other week. And it’s only going to make the next First of October album even stronger!!
sameeeeeee
same lol
The symbolism of the voice parts in the B section is really touching -
First Andrew tries to pull Rob up, but he keeps slipping back down into dissonance.
Second time Rob is able to rise up, but not all the way.
Third time, Andrew meets him all the way down on his lower note and brings reinforcements to lift Rob all the way out.
😢
I love how this went from a challenge to falling in love with what they were making in about 15 seconds.
There's a certain way of writing about a relationship that doesn't restrict it to romantic. These lyrics are simply just a connection between two people. It could be interpreted as any kind of relationship. That kind of writing is really cool.
Yall are NOT allowed to end this series. I'm a huge fan. Everything made here has been so amazing, so artful. The vibe of just two friends making beautiful music is superb.
I'm not normally one to be super moved by songs but this had be bawling my eyes out. Ur ability to pluck heart strings is masterful and terrifying. Never stop.
I am so proud of Rob's vocal growth. Starting all the way back from the 1st FIRST OF OCTOBER album to this. He has such a beautiful tone to his voice that hearing him better project that sounds incredible.
I'm just going to say it. I cried. That song was absolutely something I needed. You two are absolute geniuses!
Not even three minutes in and it's already so beautiful and emotional!
You know that part in the Get Back documentary where Paul’s kinda just strumming and humming a very general melody and in about 30 seconds it’s suddenly the melody for “Get Back”, just pulled out of nowhere? That’s how it feels watching these two writing music
I love how real this is, it's just amazing what people can accomplish working together in harmony in just an "hour".
I just discovered this show earlier this week. Seeing Andrew and Rob makes me miss writing songs with my friends.
Of course, Ive yet to see one where Andrew and Rob get into it and shout at each other and get into fights like me and my former bandmates did.
There's a reason we arent a band anymore. 😂
Ahhhh the harmonies. Good stuff y’all.
I've been feeling kinda lost in my producing journey and for some reason this video opened up that block for me, Thank you guys!
Love hearing that, thanks for watching!
I've written and deleted my comment several times now. I work in mental health/crisis care, and I love this song.
I've been listening to this song a lot the last few days. After going through the loss of 2 loved ones to cancer in the last 3 months, I've been feeling seriously defeated, but this song has been bringing me a lot of comfort and I greatly appreciate what you guys do.
Rob is so cute in this video. It looks like as if he's bursting with joy while working on this song. Great job as always guys!
I cannot say how much i enjoy watching this. This seems like such a natural extension of the "album in 24 hours" that you've done before. It's been fresh every week so far. I can only imagine how much it would cost to book a studio, with all the pros around doing the recording and mixing in addition to the work of writing, playing, singing .....This is my favorite new series on youtube this year.
You guys should put out all the emotionally charged songs out under the playlist title ‘Cuttin Onions’.
That was beautiful.
I love when Rob gets in his own creativity bubble where his mind is racing with things he wants to do on the track. Really inspiring
i appreciate both of you so much for spreading more of the midwest emo vibes, a genre everyone needs in their life
except me I despise it
This really hit home.....thank you for a beautiful song...
"Its like someone you love, but they have flaws and you really love them anyway"....😢
I lost my best friend to depression not but 2 months ago, and this was truely beautiful and hit home...
I really miss my friend....❤😢
Goosebumps. If it would somehow be possible to release a version of this song just with the two of you and the resenator and the ukulele, that would be amazing. The first time you two started playing with just these two instruments almost gave me a moment to finaly cry the tears stuck inside of me since a couple of days and allowed me to connect to them. It was such a beautyfull and vurnurable moment which at least to me, got a little bit lost in adding the other instruments. Of course this song is still a wonderfull piece of music and thank you guys for making such great conntent. 🖤
This song could easily be the soundtrack from any Life is Strange game ❤️ sooo beautiful
It's absolutely that Sufjan Stevens melancholy indie Americana sound they love in those games, great call
Oh no. Don't insult it like that.
WOW that's GORGEOUS. Also the end tag was the perfect way to diffuse some of that and leave us on a higher note. The two of you clearly have a level of comfort and trust with each other that always leads to magical collaberations. I'm glad we're getting them more often than once a year now.
I truly appreciate your ability to quickly create an amazing song from three random things, utilize all those instruments, collaborate on lyrics, and pull it all together in under 2 hours. No words, except "thank you, that was inspiring."
Song generator is the best series in this show in my opinion and its a perfect birthday gift! Thank you Rob and Andrew
This is one of my favorite series ever. Really love the way you two can draw the best out of every idea, never negating, always supporting. It's improvisation at its finest! Thank you!
You all got me all choked up teary-eyed thank you. I'm going to share this with my best friend she'll love it!!! We both have been going back and forth struggling with stuff and helping each other out, I first met her right here on CZcams. I would actually be willing to purchase this song!!!
Love the way you both get more and more hyped over such a chilled and melancholy track.
These studio videos are awesome. I hope they are paying off!
This song could easily touch so many people, this is definitely one of the most emotional songs you guys have done yet and I loved it. Great job, guys
Didn’t expect to cry in an Andrew Huang video
😅
Lmao, when I first started watching each of your channels I never would've imagined you'd make such a great musical pair, but honestly the vibe you guys have in these videos is just phenomenal. Always worth a watch, and ya'll make some beautiful pieces.
Andrew seems a little uncomfortable about breaking the rule. But he realizes it’s important to Rob so he goes along with it. What a supportive friend.
Andrew was the one who first suggested the idea. Rob said they could do it in time and then changed his mind.
I knew when I read the title that this song would make me cry. But it happed to hit a little close to home with the lyrics... Thanks for making this content.
I hope this never stops. these videos are all so fantastic.
when i actually listened to the whole thing and the the two-way meaning of "you won't go" from the two perspectives of both friends hits me :' )
Andrew & Rob, just want to say thank you for making this show and taking extra time with songs like this to make them sound as special as they are. I've been watching both of your channels for many years now and the 1st of October albums have become something I legitimately look forward to for the entire year, and to see you guys finding more ways to make music with each other is truly such a net positive in the world. Keep rocking on and keep inspiring, you guys are the purest representation of the human connection music is supposed to bring to all of us.
By far the most enjoyable part is the energy you guys have interacting and creating. Love it ❤
I love that you took the time to perfect this song, when you first mentioned it in the video my first thought was "yes please"
2:40 This didn't make the final cut, but the timidness in Rob's voice made me tear up here, which is why I'm pointing it out
Always my favorite time of the year, coming across FOO. It gets better and better each year, not to diminish the previous albums....all of them written and recorded in one day is no small feat. Several songs this year hit me on different emotional levels. "Usually", "Magic", and "Dorian" specifically. Certain lyrics kind of tug at the right or wrong places for me recently. I've long struggled with depression and anxiety. The last 6 months have been probably the hardest in the last 6 years for me on an emotional and mental health level. But I've started to get help. One of the outlets I once had was playing guitar....but over the last several years I've given it up. This years FOO album has me wanting to pick up a guitar again and find a way to write those emotions out, even if the songs never go anywhere. The cathartic release of playing and singing the emotions out may be something I need to do. Thank you guys for the long 5 days as a band haha.
I am getting such "Once" vibes and I love it so much!
I love this! It’s so beautiful and reminds me of the relationship I have with my best friend from high school! She and I have stayed connected by music and I think she’s gonna love this too!
Edit: I sent it to her and now she wants to dance to it at her wedding! Beautiful work!
I haven't been able to cry for a couple months now and the song you made had me crying 30 seconds into it. Thank you, I think this song will stick with me for years to come
Watching you two work together makes me smile. I look forward to every new Sonic Boom video. Thanks for making such great and moving videos. I didn’t know how much I needed the two of you working together, but now I can’t imagine it any other way.
This is one of my favorite video ever on this website
It's got everything I like, sensiility, creative process, genuine feeling, soft vibe like
I've been deeply shaken by the mood this brought me in
Thank you so much for this moment
this was filmed like one of those cook off shows. love it
One thing I appreciate so much about the editing of these song in an hour's and the first of October albums, is even though I'm watching them record and write the song I have no idea how it's going to sound until I hear it at the end
It's been five minutes since I watched the end of this and I'm still crying. Andrew Huang and Rob Scallon, thank you for existing so that I can listen to such beautiful music.
I love the feeling of being part of Rob and Andrew’s creative process! Fantastic video :)
I love the communication between these two, always open for each others ideas which makes the creative process so much smoother
I would do anything to hear this with a violin in the background.
I woke up super excited to watch this video as i did my daily routine and by the end i was on my ass crying my eyes out. This song perfectly has represented the kinds of hardships i've been going through sinde the start of this year and how my SO has been there for me every single step of the way. I love the two of you ever since i found you guys through your first of october videos. Been around since the first album ten hours and you guys never cease to amaze every single song no matter how crazily or how seriously you take the creative process.
Shine on to you guys and the crew. You all rock!
This was an beautiful track that hits you right in the feels. Definitely worth the pause on the timer to nail this one. I’m always in awe at how the two of you can write + record songs with such ease. Always looking forward to more!
This is literally THE song my friend and I need right now. Brought me to tears honestly
Sobbing. This is absolutely beautiful. Hits so close to home for so many I'm sure, myself included. Absolutely adore this.
I flippin love this series. So fun to see how you develop a song together.
Most of the times, music helps me coping with my inner feeling and demons but i can handle my feelings most of the time. But this song. To be honest with you, made me tear up nearly instantly.
Im going trough some rough times with lots of self doubts and stress. And only the first line is enough to get my eyes wet but also the "second View" of the supporting friend which represent my friends and most of them my girlfriend also shows the side, of the people who are always their for me.
Its such a short song. But its so powerful and perfectly describes my sitution lately. It is realy realy realy moving for me to listen to this song and first thing was to add it to some of my playlists. I appreciate what you two are doing and just want to say thank you for a song which helps to bring all the emotions to the surface and stop hiding them inside. I guess the Feeling of you are not alone is just so powerful for me at the momentan.
Continue with what you guys are doing, and never stop, making such beatiful music.
Wow... I'm crying so much. I've had a dodgy couple of days and I really needed to hear this. Thanks guys.
One of the best songs you guys have ever written together. Totally worth ditching the timer.
This did make me emotional. Worth breaking the rule.
I always love watching you guys create music together!
I'm so glad you're keeping up this series! Great videos!
What an awesome song! Holy cow, this turned out great.
Thank you!!
These videos are so good !!
I love the entire dynamic between you and Rob! Been following the 2 of you for years, and am pumped to see your collab process develop since the first First of October release
The music you create is absolutely fantastic. I can't wait to see what's next. Keep up the amazing work! 💖
I'd like to imagine that this song is about struggling to kayak and Rob and Andrew are getting really emotional about it.
I love how you guys can summon songs such as Bookmobile and this one, and make them equally incredible in their own way
Incredibly beautiful! And the way you work together is so inspiring!
So glad you guys went over. So lush, not rushed. Going back in for more!
watching rob perfectly explain how to make an american football song is probably the best thing ive ever seen
You are making better and better songs every new episode
Super impressive how skilled you guys are to make a song this beautiful from start to finish in just an afternoon!
Those guys... Dayum! Music really flows in their veins. Such a fantastic duo! Can't wait for October 1st Album (if it's still a thing) since Rob mentionned it in this video, I guess it is! Cheers! keep on inspiring people with your awesome music!
this video inspired me to write the best song i've ever written to date, shoutout to you guys
I think this is my favourite song on the show so far, absolutely gorgeous
I just love seeing you guys have so much fun, making great music!
It's amazing how I don't even notice how long these videos are when I'm watching you two put together master pieces!
My friend and I just started making our own music, you guys are making me so excited 😭😭
Love how this turned out.
3:15 - 3:30 is giving me "Hide And Seek" vibes in the best way and now I can't unhear it.
Feels like there is a vocoder, synth remix/version waiting to happen. ;)
This is such a WONDERFUL series. Thank you.
I love this new series so much. There are so many things to love about it but in this episode especially, I love the give-and-take between you two. No ego, no holding on to your ideas-just pure friendship going back and forth to let the best idea win. ❤
