I've had this camera for 6 years andstruggled to understand many of its features until now - just watched your video which is fantastic thank you so much
I've just bought the RX10ii and am really struggling with settings. The Sony instruction manual leaves a lot to be desired. Even though you're using the RX10 I've discovered so much more. Thanks for a very helpful video
This has been so useful for me. Ive had my brilliant camera for over a year and learned so much! Thankyou and best regards from the Uk 👍
Dude. I gotta say you know your stuff. I'm just doing my first video & photography projects with this new camera. Your video has demystified a number of questions I had. It's also pointed me towards an improved understanding of options that will be helpful to me. Keep up the good work. You have more impact that you know. Good man.
Thanks Ralf, I am already 7 weeks in with my RX10 but you picked out quite a few areas which I hadn't explored yet. It is great that you look at it from a practical photography point of view e.g. for the focus modes.
Excellent! Thanks (from the UK) for a comprehensive and well delivered video. It's a shame that Sony has not produced a user-friendly manual. I gained more from this video than making sense of their guide and user-forums.
This is the best tutorial so far on You Tube for this camera. Thanks - Danke
That was so helpful! I just got the camera and was very frustrated trying to figure it out on my own. Much more clear now! Thanks.
Thanks so very much! I bought this camera about a month ago, and was terribly disappointed in what Sony offered in how to utilize it to the best of its ability. I am only a third through your video, and already you have helped me enormously. Appreciate it.
sounds like you need to take a photography course. you shouldnt expect the camera manufacturer to provide a tutorial as part of the instruction manual.
YOUR THE MAN GOT THIS CAMERA 5 YEARS AGO I shoot event photos Church, trade shows, baby shower, Step and repeat , Etc Why invent the wheel again I shoot with the RX 10 fast, quiet, good zoom range. My customers know me .Don't have to prove anything carrying big cameras and long lens when all you need is a 24_100mm lens to shoot in Ballrooms
Thank you so much for this video. Informative and very helpful to me. I purchased an RX10 second-hand and it came with no in-box manual. I was not looking forward to having go through the PDF on Sony's site, but this video gave me the fast track I needed to learn about my awesome new shooter.
Just purchased the camera today and really enjoyed your tips and tricks. Thank you.
Thank you, thank you, thank you! Until I viewed this video, I thought I had made a mistake buying such a complicated camera. The Sony instructions are useless. Until now, I could only use this camera in the Auto mode. Thanks to you, I am now becoming comfortable using all of this camera's amazing features. Sony should hire you to make instructional videos for their products. I would gladly buy one for this camera.
sounds like you need a photography course. dont blame the camera maker for your own incompetence.

My comments were directed to Ralfs, not you. Rather than helping others like Ralfs, you've chosen to spend your life as an arrogant critic producing nothing but hot air and contributing to global warming. Judging by your spelling and grammar, you need to go back to grammar school.
Bruce Schwartz please feel free to point out exactly which spelling and grammar errors I made. and isnt that really the beauty of internet comments? anyone can jump in and respond.
is it arrogant to be critical of people who are apparently incapable of being the least bit self sufficient? I mean really... how hard is it to scroll through menus and see what your options are? that is really the beauty of digital cameras - you can experiment with different settings and it doesnt cost you anything or waste film. the menus are mostly self explanatory and many settings include tips right on the screen. the live preview screen shows you how the changes you make to the settings will affect the image. photography has never been so easy.
This is a very practical and clearly outlined video. I found a lot of tips that have demystified the camera and also have allowed me to make much better pictures. Thank you.
Ralf you did an excellent presentation. I plan on purchasing the RX-10 in the very near future.
Very Nice! Thanks for your tutelage - helpful on some points I wasn't aware of for my new RX10.
Great Video ..very useful .
Thank you - just got the 10-M3 and this made very quick learning curve
Excellent Gave me lots of practical information
Excellent video and tutorial. Very professional and interesting. I really learned a lot abt, my RX10
Besten Dank für die tolle Arbeit!
Awesome review and tips! Thank you!
Without a doubt the best tutorial on this camera on the web. My only problem is, I bought the mark II version of this. Any chance you would do a similar tutorial of this new camera?
Very informative and extensive. Highly useful and well presented. Thnx! :-)
Amazing thank you, have learned so much more about my RX10 so hopefully I will be able to experience and explore better photography 😁
Thank you for this tutorial, so many settings for this camera witch I love and this video makes some of them easily understood :)
Thanks bro you helped me a lot !
-from italy
Ralf, this was very informative! Thank you for sharing and I did click the 'LIKE' button :-)
Thank you so much for this tutorial, very thorough and clear. Shame on Sony as they don't even give thorough manual instruction. Thanks again!
they do give a thorough manual instructions... they tell you how to do everything, but they dont tell you why you might want to do anything. you cant expect the instructions to also include a photography tutorial.
Thanks for the video, very helpful.
Thanks Ralf very useful video.
Thanks for the tips. Very informative.
Very great explanation. Is it possible to explain also the Sony Cybershot DSC-RX10 IV - Tips & Tricks (English Version)
Thank you for sharing. Informative and useful.
Great video, thanks 👍
Thanks Ralf, very helpful.
I'm having issues where all of my RX10 II images and video look blueish... do you know why?
Terrific tutorial. I've had a Mk1, Mk 2, and just got the Mk3...don't suppose I can ask you to do another one for the Sony RX10M3??
Thank you--great video.
Thanks a lot !
Thank you for the video. It is very informative. Can you please post tips and tricks how to set white balance properly, especially under artificial lights? ( AWB for Sony RX10 and other sony cameras is not working very well under such lighting conditions - pictures look reddish)
the great thing about digital cameras with live preview screen is that when you are not sure what the correct white balance is for a certain lighting condition, you can scroll through the WB options and see immediately on your screen which setting is working best. when you say artificial lights with a reddish result on auto setting... I am thinking you mean incandescent lights, simply choose the incandescent bulb setting (the one the looks like a lightbulb). sorry, I cant understand why someone would need a tutorial on this.
Very helpful! Thanks
Love your instructions. I have a question. When I use Auto mode and look at the settings on the RX-10, when I change to P, or A, or S mode, the F-stop stays about the same, as does the ISO, but the shutter speed reduces drastically, even though the camera is pointed at the exact same scene as it was in Auto. Can you explain why this is happening? I would expect a small change but shutter speed goes from 1/80 to 1/15 or less! Seems like it should be almost the same! Please explain if you can. Thank you.
Thank YOU.. I have RX10 iii but this has really helped.. ;-)
you are so nice.Thanks.David.
hello ralf thank you very much for your comprehensive review of the rx10, however, could you please furnish review about the quality of digital zoom. i would appreciate your assistance with regards this information
Great video, thanks
Thanks for this very helpfull video!
Really good vdo....thanks bro
Why change to NTSC? If you are shooting in Germany or Europe, we use PAL. Moreover, 50P and 60P shooting is both at 28Mbps so there is no benefit from choosing NTSC either for quality or usefulness in Europe. Together with the shutter speed being set correctly, PAL mode would provide balance with the lighting used in Europe (because of our electric current NTSC mode in Europe can cause nasty flickering of mains lighting ) as well as 'normal 'motion blur.
Thanks for the video tho, I learned a thing or two
Nice review thanks!
Hello, many thanks for these Tips & Tricks. At first I am trying to prioritise using this camera for video but haven't managed to get the distance scale up when in Movie mood. I want it as the distance markers would be a great asset during video capture. Any advice on this?
awesome review buddy. With a little bit of accent, still very good.
Hi:
Great video.
I want to buy this camera on October 1st.
If I set the aperture to F4 like you suggested, what MODE do I take photos in? I want to shoot P mode.
If I shoot in P mode it will adjust shutter speed and aperture, right?
Can I manually turn the aperture ring when I am on the MF mode?
Also I saw a video where the Aperture ring said F6 for example but on the screen on top on the camera it said something like F3. Why is that?
Helpful thanks 👍
Can you explain the continuous focus setting? Thanks I dont believe you explained that setting..everthing else you talked about is great info..
Also can you do the AEL focus trick one more time..Thanks again,,just about to purchase a Mark 1
How do i trun off the date. After i take photos the date is shown in the picture. Could you please tell how tondo it
Can you please say in which tap and which row is the option viewfinder /display option.....
Bec now my camera is on only viewfinder and my view finder is not working 🥺
nice video. ciao
Is there a way to print directly from the camera to the printer ?
hello, just got the camera. But i cant access to all those settings most of them are like blurred and cant use them...
Thankssss
wonderful, thanks so much!
👁-👁
Thanks great video
Excellent...
Can all these adjustments be made in Auto mode?
Thank you for your videos. You are a nice person. I watched your video about Pentax K-3 because I have the same and also can you tell me something about Sony RX10? When you presented this camera from moment when you turned it on I saw that the red light(sensor) was on on the ViewFinder , also on your other video about Sony RX10 I saw that the sensor was on. For two weeks I bought Sony RX10 and camera was not ok so i made an exchange, on both cameras there was no sensor-red light on the ViewFinder. Please, can you answer me Is the camera if it does not have the red light sensor, is ok? Thank you! David
The red light is probably infra-red for the proximity sensor - it show up on some cameras when filming, but you won't see it in person
Amazing
an someone please explain how to turn ON the HDR mode, it's set to off on my XR10 even when settings are in full manual with no other effects turned on, but i just can't get hdr to turn on.
thank for tips gracias
The cameras showing only 60i on the bottom label of the camera cannot be changed from NTSC to PAL; there is no "PAL/NTSC Selector" option as seen @22:41 of the video above. Whether installing the UK 2.0 firmware on the US camera would make a difference or is even possible is unknown to me.
I have the US 2.0 version already; there is no "PAL / NTSC" option.
Yes and I have XAVC S selected.
I have the following Record Settings: 60p 50M, 30p 50M, 24p 50M, and 120p 50M. Are any of those PAL types?
Drive mode. Continuous shooting????
If this is called, 1 inch sensor, then what would be the 24mm X 36mm sensor should be called in Inch?
The name 1"-Sensor is historical. It has direct nothing to do with the real size of the sensor. The name comes from the tube in old TV-Cameras. So there is nothing comparable for a 24 x 36mm-Sensor
Ralfs Foto-Bude They should just call it a 9 mm sensor (8.8 mm X 13.2 mm) instead of scamming people with a tiny sensor.
When shooters have a 50mm/1.4 lenses they never say a 2 Inch/1.4 lens.
So why the switching metric to standard around?
Only we, the odd ball USA, are still using standard systems.
Always great to see your wonderful reviews.
***** You should look on the tire sizes.
It starts out metric, then ratio and the last number jumped to standard, like for example my car: 335/35ZR17 and 245/45ZR17
"we ODD BALL USA still use standard system. last i checked its something we use to commonly communicate" not all true, we use metric systems when doing, taking or using drugs.
Ask your wife, daughter or lady friend, "how many milligrams is on their birth-control pill?" It always in metric not standard number.
+Rayford Randles What is this?
Danke!
How do I change my f stop. Can't figure it out 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
This camera has the ability to use an s- log profile?
nice Tipps
VE VILL ASK THE QUESTIONS!!
how to download pictures
Got the fact when asking ATG:
1. Sony dinky sensor One Inch is the exact sized as Nikon CX sensor.
Which is 8.8 mm.
2. Olympus and Panasonic have 4/3 sensor, which is 13.0mm
3. All reduction cameras have APS-C, which is 15.7mm
4. 1/1 (full frame) cameras have a 24.0mm
Given the fact that the window of 35mm slr is 24.0 mm (24mm X 36mm)
Did you know all speedlites have bumped up the wrong/faulty number like GN60?
They never rated at ASA/ISO 100 based at 35mm.
Companies are aiming for the mass markets, beginners and post-beginners.
They can't rely & sell to the pros if they except to be around for next year.
But over $1.300.00 for a dinky & tiny sensor camera?
People rather shoot with cell phones /or with ipads.
Again, great to see your videos.
here he is again.... biggest loser on youtube. so angry that he cant afford this camera so he has to bash it on every review!
RedroomStudios
You must be new into photography because you can't seem to take the facts and Criticism well.
Camera stores are pissed with Sony.
First they sold it for $1,300.00. And so shooters purchased it at price.
Then shooters just maaaaaaaaaaad.
Stores are selling it for $1,000.00.
This cut your profit margins. And people just purchased it for $1,300 wants a full refund. You now can't sell it as new.
You, the shooter found out you got the camera less than 3 months and you can't sell it for $500.00.
So really, Sony screws dealers, themselves and photographers from knocking on their door.
Take for example the amateur camera body, Sony A7s, that many shooters buy and want to shoot 4K. Well, you better break your piggy bank because the ATG Gold Shogun2 or Atomos Shogun runs over $4,000.00 for a good SSD.
angelisone every new camera that comes on the market is introduced at an inflated price. there will always be buyers willing to pay more to have a new camera right away. that is their choice. we all know by now that the longer a camera is on the market, the price drops. this is the same with stereo equipment and tv's. especially people who are in the business of selling cameras know that. I know that the prices on cameras come down over time, so that's why I have waited over 1 year from the initial release to buy this cam. how old are you anyway? you sound like a whiny teenager who didnt get his way. you must have a miserable life carrying around this attitude.
anyone familiar with the camera market also knows that SONY doesnt hold it's resale value as high as Canon or Nikon. I just sold my previous rig which I paid well over $2000 new for only $500 after 3.5 years. Am I mad at Sony for that? no. that is what someone was willing to pay for it. and $500 got me half way to paying for my RX10 so it's all good. no more heavy camera bag to carry around and no changing lenses. I am happy.... whereas you are a whiny little bitch. the world doesnt owe you anything.

This video is for the ADHD generation, too fast, and really not enough detail. If you actually want to be respected in the field of tutorials, you need to SLOW DOWN, and stop trying to make it sexy... it isnt sexy!
Thanks! Very useful video!
