    I don't think this is a beginner bike (I own the same mt 07 model), even when i was a beginner, my 150 cc bike was a problems at the beginning, and this bike is 5 times stronger. The problems is because we get used to the power of this bike or more powerful bikes, we think beginners can ride these kind of bikes, but we are wrong.

    • @Jeremy_roe
      @Jeremy_roe  Před rokem +13

      Completely appreciate what you’re saying, a lot of it comes down to how the rider respects the bike, when you’re at speed weight isn’t too much of a problem and they’re actually not much heavier compared to say an R3, if someone reckless is to jump on of course it’s not an ideal situation, but just because you have access to the 650cc doesn’t mean you need to use all of the power.

    All good points and this seems like an amazing bike indeed.
    But let's maybe reiterate that there's no issue starting with an MT03, a duke 390, BMW G310R, CB300R or Z400. They're all in the class just below but are significantly lighter and less powerful. They'll give a beginner a lot more confidence and confidence avoids the early mistakes (until you get too much of it for your skill level).
    These bikes are so cheap (you find them all sub 5k$, a couple of years old and with barely any km on them). It'll allow you to spend more $ on quality protection equipment (this is too often overlooked and no one needs it more than beginners...). You'll probably not lose any money when you do sell them again 1 or 2 years in. If you have time hunting for bargains, you might even end up making money reselling it (I've seen some duke 390 from 2020 going around 3 or 3.5k$ !).
    From my perspective, the upgrade after a year or so is not a downside, it's a reward! First you have this "I made it and I'm moving on" feeling and second, going through the bike selection process again, watching reviews, trying bikes and buying a new one is super fun, isn't it?
    Start small with a bike you'll actually be able to work with well and learn on properly, cause you can flick it around without fearing its weight and then target the MT07 as an upgrade. That'd be my advice but the important part is to feel happy and confident with your choice.

The Triumph is a way more premium bike in every regard from the brakes and overall handling compared to the very budget minded MT07. The riding experience is a good upgrade in every way. This beginner motorcycle things has so much misconception. You want an easy and light bike not so that its easier for you to handle at the beginning, but to push your skills further with lesser margins of error. You want to learn a knee drag on an mt07 ? super tight turns and cornering on this thing ? Its doable but you will be either too confident and crash or not confident enough and will take longer to master compared to a 400cc bike. Its really not a saftey thing but a developmental thing because yeah, this mt07 is an easy bike to be riding on streets only.

    I would strongly disagree, for many reasons. But I'll only talk about one reason it is Not a good beginner bike for some people.
    I wanted it to be my first bike. It is physically to small for me, and underpowered.
    I settled on the Tracer 900 GT. That too is a little small but made do with it after $6,000 worth of upgrades, ergonomic, suspension, brakes and performance.
    After increasing it to 130 HP it was barely adequate as a beginner bike for me. 70000 km later I'm still enjoying it without any spills. Yet during that time I've crashed every small cc bike and scooter I've swung my leg over because they are too small for me.
    A beginner's bike should only be considered in regards to the ergonomics for each individual person.

    • @Jeremy_roe
      @Jeremy_roe  Před rokem +4

      like you said it really comes down to the individual person. Age, flexibility, medical conditions, .... these all play a role in what bike you will feel most comfortable on. Simply being tall isn't an argument against this bike tho, I'm 6'6 and i fit on the mt-07.

    I respectfully disagree with the mt07 being a good beginner bike. I rode one for the first time about a month ago and it’s a great fun bike. The torque however is extremely powerful from a dead stop. It feels more powerful than my s1000xr off the line. It can get dicey if you don’t have good throttle control on those bikes. I just picked up an mt03 for my girl, and that feels like a much better beginner bike to me. You don’t have shit tons of torque at idle, it can haul my big ass down the freeway, and it’s fun. I’d put an mt07 in my garage though. They are one of my favorite sounding bikes. They’re awesome 😆!

      Hey there. In Australia and the UK we have restrictions in place to ensure people can’t just jump on an R1, even the bike in the video has a throttle restriction on it. In Australia you have these restrictions for between 3-4 years. Unfortunately the US does not have these restrictions to ensure newer riders can’t jump on something extremely powerful. I do not condone an r1 starting out, I also assume you’re an older rider, unfortunately I also see a lot of beginners riding r3’s and other similar bikes and lose money that they can’t afford to lose after the inevitable 6-12months of getting comfortable and wanting to upgrade

    Bad advice sayin that 600/700cc is best beginner bike. Maybe best beginner bike out of 600/700cc bikes.
