SEACAMS Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler

SEACAMS use acoustic doppler current profilers (ADCPs) to measure the speed and direction of tidal currents in the sea using the Doppler shift principle. This information can be used to answer research questions and validate models. The four beam ADCPs shown here can measure three dimensional current velocity. SEACAMS also uses ADCPs with five beams, which can be deployed to investigate turbulence in the water as well as current velocity.
