- What an amazing gun. Saw a video that James over at TFB TV did and instantly fell in love with this thing. Ordered it on Monday got it on Friday just put 50 rounds through it and I'm in total love this thing.
Leather Holster from TT Gunleather www.ttgunleather.com/
GP Arms gparms.com/
I watched James review the weapon also. I thought I had all the firearms I needed . . .
Expensive taste, good on you! Both are real nice 2011’s!
After watching James with TFB tv And your review I’m going to definitely get one. I’ve already contacted my local gun shop. Thanks wanna see more
ginormousbones you won’t regret it. Heading to the range now to shoot it more.
I have a Desert Eagle Undercover 45 made by BUL and the trigger is very nice, I like the looks of the SAS also. Thanks for the review.
Gorgeous tools
Looks awesome.
Lovely guns man
Just ordered mine from gilbert looking at between 60/90 days wait. Cant wait to get in hand
I just bought mine will arrive Tuesday. GP ARMS is awesome
WOW. I ordered mine through GP last Wednesday was told 6-8 weeks. how are you getting your so fast ? which model did you Order ? I ordered the Ultralight FS (19 round full size grip)
@@DerekDarcy i got the sas ii ul comp
@@DerekDarcy and I called Monday I got the last one he had
@@DerekDarcy Since the two big reviews have come out on this gun, people asked where to get this, and I have been listing the gparms.com website. I first saw this gun back in December and Gilbert had the only good website. Gilbert has been getting a lot of calls on it since the video reviews came out. I ordered mine in December and it took Gilbert about 4 weeks to get it in back then. That was before these two videos. The demand is getting very high for them now.
I know you said you have fairly large hands and find the 15 round grip comfortable- having said that do you wish you would have got the 19 instead instead?
I got the Bul Armory Viper but was talking to Gilbert at GP Arms about this one first. Great video.
Wheeled & Well Armed Thank you!! I just got another one from him yesterday. The 1911 Officer Ultra in .45. I’ve always been a big STI fan but Bul is fast becoming my fav!!
@@JayMacklin My first pistol was a Browning Hi Power and insist on double stack. The last 25 years I have been shooting CZ and their clones. Have you seen or tried the SAR K2 46, 14 rounds in the full and compact, accurate and soft shooter. I'll video my new k2 45 compact in stainless steel today.
Best Compact 9mm Ever❤
I like a smaller gun for concealed carry, but I worry people will think I don't have large hands. Would this make them seem larger?
Thanks
Great video. Fast forward a year later I'm waiting on the 2022s to come out the SAS optics ready 4.25 inch barrel I believe. never shot one of those. I hear they're amazing, especially for the money
I think the 2022’s will be more reliable and a better product.
I bought the viper and love it
How is the muzzle rise during recoil? I have been debating if I want to order mine with the street comp that they use on the Viper.
I've heard that recoil is less than a Sig P365 XL, if that helps. Will be receiving mine tomorrow. I'll let you know.
I enjoy this pistol but two issues. 1. Can not get mags for it. My distributor is tired of hearing from me cause doesn’t even answer now.(Gilbert)
Any body know who to contact?
The grip is not great. Slippery and not that ergonomic. Can it be modified or changed?
Sweet trigger and very accurate. Light. Nice nice pistol.
Ideas?
If I like to get one where do I get it from and what website do I go to?
Can the gun be converted for a left hand shooter?
From Gilbert!
Please do try make a video on bul armory sas ii FS
What’s the name of the maker for that holster?
Sup jay! Been looking to get one of these but no where here has it. 🤣
Hey had a question for you. Have you shot it by any chance with hollow-point ammo? how is it fair?
Mr. Review This I have several times. No issues at all.
@@JayMacklin Excellent ordered mine a couple of days ago from Mr. Gilbert Perez. Thanks again for the connection.
Are the magazines for this an “sti” pattern? I.e. are these 2011 magazines or are they proprietary to BUL only?
david williams they don’t fit any of my STIs so I believe they are proprietary to Bul
MBX makes magazines for the UL.
Mr Macklin, I apologize for contacting you this way but I have a question in relation to your TT Leather holster you show on you tube for the Staccato that also houses the Bul SAS 2 UL 45. I have the same Bul and the same TT leather holster. My question, do you have problems with the holster sliding down and pulling your trousers down due to the smoothness of the holster and the weight of the pistol? If so what do you do to prevent this. This is my favorite rig but I’m constantly pulling up my trousers from the weight.
I also bought a holster for the same Bul from Rocky at Pure Kustom Holsters in Arizona and mentioned your name. He immediately said for you to quit putting different guns in the same holster!! Quite a character.
Anyway if you can offer any suggestion please do since you seem to be the only other person on you tube with this holster.
Sorry for the bother,
Jamie Prather
Hi Jamie
Sorry for the delay. Yes, the holster did have a bit of a pull but I wasn’t sure if it was the smooth holster texture or the design. What I found is that Rocky’s holster design has even better weigh distribution than TT gun leather does so the “pull” is very little. I carry a 45oz nighthawk in a Pure Kustom holster and I have zero issues with it yanking down the trousers. A good solid gun belt with Rocky’s holsters are all that I use now.
Hope this helps.
Jay, I too saw the reviews from TFB-TV and Sunday Gunday. I contacted two distributors, the one from GPArms in Tennessee and the distributor in Miami. They both said 30-90 days for delivery of the piece. I just want to confirm that you ordered on a Monday then received that Friday of the same week? Now mind you, I am adding the flat trigger kit and the flat hammer, so I could understand the longer wait.
Silent Pinoy yes, i contacted Gilbert on Saturday spoke to him on Monday and he said he had one available but i had to take it as is. Which happens to be exactly what I wanted. Didn’t want the stainless or the Viper. Otherwise I would have had to waited 90 days. He shipped it 2day shipping and I picked it up from my FFL on Friday.
@@JayMacklin Ahhh, okay. Makes sense. This is the first 1911 pistol that I will have in my small, but growing, collection of arms. Thanks for the heads up.
Do you know if i can get it cut for the rmr-c and not get the rmr? I heard the dot is a tad large and was gonna look into another dot that uses the same footprint.. i want a dot on it, and would prefer the cuts to be done by the factory but can i get my own dot or do i have to pay for the rmr if i want the slide cut for one?
Can I get one with left hand safety?
Would you have prefered the RMSC version im stuck between the two.
Phillip Abreu not a red dot fan...I know that is not a popular stance but I just prefer iron sights.
I just ordered mine. What kydex holster came with it?
Right now I’m using my Staccato C holsters. IWB from TT Gunleather. (Mikes Special) and OWB from Tucker Gunleather and Pure Kustom holsters. Fits anything made for the Staccato C just shorter
Who did you get it from
So would you recommend this over the staccato P? And does it seems to glide as nicely as a staccato P when you rack the slide
Raul Burress it’s just as nice as the Staccato but compares more with the C. The P is much bigger and a 4.4” barrel.
@@JayMacklin well if you were forced to pick between the C2 and the SAS 2 UL what would you pick
Raul Burress wow...that’s tough. I would probably go with the C2. I have 2 of them and they are incredible guns.
@@92Raulb To me, the trigger is better on the SAS. (Mine came in at 2.2 lbs. I know a lot of people wouldn't like that light on a carry gun but that is still twice as heavy as the trigger on my competition gun.) I like the added rounds over the C.
Bought it based on J Reeves. Sight unseen. Waiting for arrival but love my Stacatto c and STI Encore in .45
I just ordered one of these fine pistols from Gilbert Perez at GParms in Tennessee. It could be a while before it actually arrives at my local gun store, but he says production is on schedule and he pre ordered a bunch of them. Hopefully I'll get mine within a month or so. I can't wait. Jay Macklin, were you able to get TT Gunleather to make you a holster for it? I like leather holsters too.
Carl Love awesome!!! Yes, the holster is the Mikes Special. You list STI Staccato C but in the notes tell him it’s for the Bul Armory SAS with a 3.1” barrel. I have one for the Staccato C and it fits the Bul perfectly.
Carl Love send me your email and I’ll send you a quick video
@@JayMacklin There is probably a way to message you on CZcams, but I'm not smart enough to find it. So my email is carllovett at sbcglobal dot net
By the way, I went to your page to see if I could message you, and there was a video running of you talking about real estate, and said your location is in Scottsdale AZ. I live in Buckeye.
Jay, have you run defensive hp ammo in this weapon?
Frank Del Sandro I have. No issues at all. Just bought some Synthetic defense ammo and will run that too.
Hey Jay, thx for the review. I'm curious about recoil. How does this compare to the recoil of similar class firearms. It's subjective, which i get, but in your estimation, how is the muzzle flip,? is it snappy? Ive ended up maganaporting certain handguns but others (i.e.Glock 26) are fine out of the box. Thanks!
RumTumDrumR great question. It’s extremely soft and light. Because it’s a 1911/2011 the weight of the slide is VERY manageable given the size. I shoot almost exclusively Federal TSJ action pistol 150 grain rounds and it’s like a .22 amazing ammo
The BUL Armory UL Viper model is ported and cut for a Red Dot so that would be my pick. Nice 2011 though.
nice video! I am about to order one, helps to hear and see the gun since I can't hold it and shoot it myself. How's the recoil on it? Does it shoot flat?
Also, people need to know GP is NOT the only dealer for these guns. Not that they are bad folks by any means but Iconic Arms is a top notch dealer and like i said in another comment Ofir is Israeli and knows these guys on a personal level and he's an incredibly knowledgable resource when it comes to Bul and firearms in general. Just wanted folks to know there are choices when it comes to Bul.
I ordered mine around the beginning of May, and I can't wait to get it. I wasn't as lucky as you. Gilbert Perez at GParms didn't have one sitting on the shelf when I called. So I have to wait for the next production run and delivery from Israel. As I said, I can't wait to get it. In the mean time I am stuck watching videos about it. There aren't many about this gun. So have you had the chance to shoot it again? I don't know how you could go to the range with a new gun and only put 50 rounds through it. LOL. I would have had to have put a couple of hundred at least.
Have you gotten it yet? I ordered mine may 27
@@michaelmarrero8920 , No Michael, I haven't received it. I actually emailed Gilbert Perez a few days ago and he said that he is still waiting on the next shipment to arrive. He said he is hopeful that they may be arriving within a few weeks. We shall see. I actually ordered two guns from him. I ordered the SAS II Ultra Light in 9mm, and an SAS II FS in 45ACP. Looking forward to getting them both. I ordered a holster for them and I've already received the holster, but don't have the guns.
Any more videos? Still waiting for mine. Coming up on the 60 day mark
Michael Marrero UGh. I hate waiting. Sure. I can do an update and a take down video.
How many rounds did you put through it? SMH
What’s a good size comparison for the grip? Glock 19?? Trying to decide if I want the 15 rd grip or 19 w my big hands
Yes. G19 is close. I have large hands and it fits great
@@JayMacklin awesome thank you!
What would be better…
Bul armory or a rock island armory with a Hayes custom “race ready “ package?
Good question. Never owned a RIA because they came from the Philippines and my assumption was they were not good quality. After owning a BUL Armory I realized that the name is a marketing USP. (Unique selling proposition) so your assumption of build quality is solely based on marketing and reviews.
I can't really understand you when you give the company name of the leather holster. Can you specify that company please?
Carl Love TT Gun Leather
@@JayMacklin Thank you. I'll look them up.
How would you compare it to the Staccato C?
Kris Choi, well just bought a C2 which I think it will compares well with. The C is still a bit more accurate and that’s because of the barrel length but I really like the full size grip on the SAS.
Do you have a glock 19 can you compare it? Interested in thickness.
Michael Pronchick I don’t. But the Staccato C is almost exact size as the 19. Slightly thinner than a Glock. My guess would be that the SAS would be slightly thicker than a 19.
youtube TFB TV "Finally a 1911 I would actually buy" he does an excellent video comparison to the glock 19. shows top side weight. worth watching the video.
😍😍😍😍👏👏👏👏👏
Where did you buy it? Can’t find them anywhere...
I think you gotta order it though GP Arms. They seem to be BUL's American go-to.
Not true Iconic Arms is a go-to as well..Ofir is a great resource and he's Israeli and has a very different relationship with the mother ship. He gets it done, he is patient and super knowledgable.
Could you please give us dimensions? Length, width, height? I sort of really want one but i'm worried this is going to be very wide and chunky.
I can. It’s a thick gun but short and stocky
Brandon Woods 5 inches tall by 7 inches long. Width is 1.3 including safety.
Sir what is the leght of barrel? Thanks
3.25}
How much
Does it work with the STI Mags?
No, they’re proprietary mags.
Where did you pick it up? I have looked and can't find anyplace that has it in stock.
I got it at GP Arms in TN but they are hard to find
@@JayMacklin OK. I'll keep an eye out. I'm looking forward to you doing some additional, perhaps even shooting videos of this pistol. I actually saw an add on Gun Broker, but when I clicked on it, turned out to be a pre order sale. The guy didn't have any in stock, but wanted to sell 5 of them as a pre order. His price was $1,270 is that about what you paid?
@@JayMacklin I got ahold of Gilbert Perez at GParms and he gave me a phone number to call. He does say that it could be 30 to 90 days to get the pistol. But I guess that is OK if that is the earliest way to get it. I will call him on Monday. Thanks for the tip on where to get one of these pistols.
Are you still going to send me that video?
Carl Love yes. Will send it to you this evening.
Where do one buy extra clips? I need like 4 or 5
a clip?? really dude? 🙄
Tom Rusch yes I only carry with at least 2 extra clips 1 in the gun, 2 in a pocket. How do you carry?
Rob the gun comunity will give you crap for calling a magazine a clip.
Did you say "your clit"
#gotdamntaterhead!
Me wanty.
What is the .45acp capacity?
Flying Penguin. Not sure. I asked about the .45 and the dealer said it doesn’t come in the UL. It does say that it dies on the website tho
@@JayMacklin on two dealer websites it claims the .45 acp magazine cap is 14+1 which would be amazing in this size if true.
Jay Macklin is this not the .45 version?
Bugs Bunny no, it’s the 9mm
Jay Macklin thank you
Very very nice. However it’s outside of what I am willing to spend. I will stick to my P320 Xcompact.
was really interested until I saw the price
I don’t care for kydex either. I make my own leather holsters
Love the gun. Not a fan of Kydex.
I'm ready to move OUT of California just so I can own this gun!
Like to get one...butt can’t find ammo...heee
My rotation means I have guns but I suck with guns or spend to much money on guns. Get the gun that works well for you and carry it!!
CAN I BUY IT IN CALIFORNIA????? GET BACK TO ME ON THAT PLEASE
Mario Reynoso great question. What’s the CA limitation?
@@JayMacklin I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT DO YOU MEAN LIMITATION??
HOW MANY GUN WE CAN OWN??
Mario Reynoso no, how many rounds can you have?
@@JayMacklin CALIFORNIA IS A TEN ROUND MAGAZINE STATE
@@JayMacklin BUT I DON'T CARE ABOUT THE TEN ROUNDS
$2100 huh? I need to pay off my Bugatti before I buy this
Looks amazing... mag sounds cheap as hell
jaboody singh Funny you say that. I thought that too. So far no issues but they do have a cheap tinny sound to them.
I thought the same thing while watching this.
