    This is one of the coolest videos I've seen in a long time on any channel. It's amazing to think that 8000 years ago there were still people much more ingenious than I. I love the vid with the trap that caught rodents with the noose and rope tension, much like this but you blocked off all the spots but the entrance. The best trap you've got so far is the big paint bucket and the dowel rod with peanut butter suspended over a few inches of water. And the most efficient trap you've tested but not shown was probably the old ornery cat you bought.
    Thanks for the vids, I love them.

    I think the bait stick has a notch carved at the tip, and the rope is not tied as a loop, but instead it has a knot at the very end, and you put the bait into the notch, an the small knot will prevent to loosen up. This is what I saw in the photo of the trap. But it works just fine with your design. Thank you for sharing.

    I can see that being a lot more lethal if you make the kill bars into a triangle that's sharp on the bottom and they could slide past each other like a pair of scissors so they may not dull as quickly as you'd think.
    Putting nails along the kill bar like the dragon trap is also an option, but seeing as the trap can hit lower on the mouse's abdomen, you might risk contaminating the meat if you were going to eat what this catches.

  • @Aurochhunter
    @Aurochhunter Před 11 dny

    This might even be more effective than modern mouse traps, the upper bow would do a lot more damage than a thin metal band; I've seen a mouse that was still alive after been caught in a modern snap-trap.

    From your thumbnail, I thought it was going to be a mini-crossbow that launched mice to their death.

    Reminds me of an old phrase. The early bird might get the worm. But it's the second mouse that gets the cheese.

    I wonder if this thing is where the saying “shut your clap trap” originated from? Although clap trap in this case referring to someone’s mouth, I’m intrigued now to find out and also attempt to construct one of these

    Fire-hardened sycamore or ebony for wood, as well as crocodile femur (you can substitute alligator ordered online from Florida) or hippo ivory (the only legal ivory these days is if it came from a fossil you found like a mammoth or giant sloth) would make it more authentic. In fact, since in other videos you dabbled with bronze-age stuff, maybe you could try out a whole series of Ancient Egyptian hunting and fishing gear in action. Goose clubs similar to boomerangs or Apache/Mojave rabbit sticks, palm wood and water buffalo horn composite bows, axes and daggers similar to the punching dag and the Iceman axe you made, and the various types of arrowheads and materials used. That might be interesting to look into. :)

    Very cool. I'm going to have to build one, just for the fun of it. My favourite one so far and the one I've been using, is the 427 year old Mascall spring mousetrap.

    *** Mouse Trap PROJECT IDEA ***
    - Make a miniaturized crossbow / slingshot trap using the thick rubber band from the NOOSKI trap.
    - Maybe use a tunnel pathway (like the mouse going in a PVC pipe) so the mouse will be in the cross hair of the crossbow at the end of the tunnel.
    - Trigger / Bait will be in front of the crossbow like in this video but farther where the crossbow will be at the very back.
    - Maybe add in a small wall before the trap entrance to catch the projectile so that it won't travel farther than the intended target.
    Note: To get some extra idea of slingshot designs, please watch some videos from the "JoergSprave" aka "The Slingshot Channel".
