  • After getting a few questions in another video about the line up at URBN Surf, I found this footage and decided to share it with you. This is what it looks like when you're waiting for your wave at URBN Surf wave pool in Melbourne. This is the Advanced setting. It was pretty intimidating at first when the wave generator starts. As you can see lot's of people don't make the take off or miss waves completely. An expensive exercise!

      Awesome Stephen! So nice to hear. Yeah mate, such a great spot. Sydney ones are getting built soon which will be great. Hope to sneak a trip back to Melbourne sometime soon for another couple of sessions.

      Thanks mate. Yeah you do feel pressure that’s for sure but once you start to paddle into the wave your focus shifts pretty quickly. Can’t wait to go back there.

    Hi from. Cool you show that. I tried the pool wave in switzerland. Pretty much the same wave. It was super hard. I am an experienced surfer and thought it was going to be easy. Take off is really rough, you have to paddle hard. After 10 waves I was done.

    • @joshtraceysurfing
      @joshtraceysurfing  Před 2 lety +3

      Thank you! I agree, it is so much harder than you think it is going to be! Extremely tiring after a couple of waves. Would love to go back still. Switzerland pool looks really fun!

      Totally agree people underestimate the take off especially on the maxed out advanced turns midway on . Plenty of free falls on take-off next to wall

    • @joshtraceysurfing

      So true Mike! Literally free falls on the take off! When it goes to barrel mode the take off is super mellow though. So weird. Either way it’s so much fun

    Does the waves just keep on coming without a break for the whole session ? Haven’t been in the water for a few months questioning my paddle endurance , did you find you had time to Recover your shoulders between waves

    • @joshtraceysurfing
      @joshtraceysurfing  Před 18 dny

      Hey mate it does stop, in sydney they do sets of 6 with about 3 mins in between sets. That being said, paddle fitness is important here as there is a lot of water moving in the pool. Maybe take on one of the more chill sessions for your first one back :)

    • @joshtraceysurfing
      @joshtraceysurfing  Před rokem

      Depends. Close to take off it’s super deep but get shallower as the wave progresses. In barrel mode where it barrels is about waist deep. It’s common to hit the bottom.

      It's not, even when you're there and looking at it, it doesn't look big. It is a different story when you're in the water though. When it hits barrel mode the lip is fairly thick and dredges pretty hard. It's good fun for sure.
