So they had to renegotiate his contract and he wanted some of that money they were making off his name. What could they do. LMAO. It was their fault but they took it out on him. This song is credited to one of the Family's hired songwriters on the album, but it was actually written and composed by one of David's girlfriends along with some help from David Cassidy and polished in the studio after David brought it back to step-Mom Shirley who approved. I submit this is the absolute truth, although you will read this no where else.

There is nothing on earth as Magical as the Partridge Family music for the souls. It truly makes me happy and upbeat every time I listen. It was from a Golden Age of the early 70's. A priceless part of my youth.
The imagery this song puts out makes it seem a little 'heavier' than the audience it was intended for, or at least I have always thought this. Just if you listen to the words and the way the music is driving. Its the Partridge Family's best song I think.
Generally, the problem with the Partridge's musical image (it's pretty well accepted that these were all studio musicians and singers, with only David and Shirley contributing to the records) is that Wes Farrell didn't even try to make it sound authentic. (Was the other male voice on "To Be Lovers" supposed to be Danny or Chris?) There's no way Keith would have written songs this mature. The Partridges were supposed to be a fictionalized version of the Cowsills, but put the records side by side: the Cowsills were hella talented but still sounded like the kids they were.
Loved it when I was 11. Love it now. Timeless. David and Shirley sold this song. Just look at that energy. Susan is enjoying herself.. And the camera work was perfection. Its all great.

I grew up watching the Partridge Family on TV in the 70s. I remember how every barber shop had the coolest posters of David Cassidy and how we all tried to have cool hair like him. He provided us with great music and comedy. A truly bygone era for which we can only long for today.

I bought a little portable cassette recorder thru the Sears catalogue when I was a kid a half century ago and it came with a cassette inside to get me started listening. This song was on one of the sides and I had never heard it before or since until now. But I've always remembered the first 5 measures of lyric and melody. So I searched for "heartbeat' it and voila, here it is. Never saw this episode or music video either until now. The other song on the other side of the cassette (there was only one song on each side) was Aretha Franklin's "You Make Me Feel Like A Natural Woman." Neither song did much for me at the time. I was used to the Beatles, a tough standard to live up to.
Laurie Partridge was an awesome singer. She went on to have an incredible solo career with something like 25 gold records, 15 songs that hit No. 1 on the billboard charts, and 5 albums that went platinum. Plus she was a hottie.
This show and also The Monkees really influenced me as a kid. I was just little but they helped me to love music the way I do today. I became a signed professional musician as a result. Music has done so many good things for my soul. Yes, looking at these shows now does remind me of how "corny" they can be and obvious that the only real musician was David Cassidy and I think since he became so famous so quickly as Keith Partridge, he never really had the chance to truly show his talent. It happens to teen idols sometimes. I know that frustrated him and he was so type cast that he just couldn't shake it. I think it always troubled him because he knew he was talented but not taken seriously. He led a very troubled life after and I do feel sad for him in that respect. I still enjoy watching these shows once in a while so, thanks for putting this video up. I especially like this tune.

I heard this on American Horror Story for the first time and immediately liked it and looked it up. Love this song! :) they don't make many good songs anymore. It seems more feeling, euthuesiam and meaning went into older songs.

I bought a little portable cassette recorder thru the Sears catalogue when I was a kid a half century ago and it came with a cassette inside to get me started listening. This song was on one of the sides and I had never heard it before or since until now. But I've always remembered the first 5 measures of lyric and melody. So I searched for "heartbeat' it and voila, here it is. Never saw this episode or music video either until now. The other song on the other side of the cassette (there was only one song on each side) was Aretha Franklin's "You Make Me Feel Like A Natural Woman." Neither song did much for me at the time. I was used to the Beatles, a tough standard to live up to.
Laurie Partridge was an awesome singer. She went on to have an incredible solo career with something like 25 gold records, 15 songs that hit No. 1 on the billboard charts, and 5 albums that went platinum. Plus she was a hottie.
This show and also The Monkees really influenced me as a kid. I was just little but they helped me to love music the way I do today. I became a signed professional musician as a result. Music has done so many good things for my soul. Yes, looking at these shows now does remind me of how "corny" they can be and obvious that the only real musician was David Cassidy and I think since he became so famous so quickly as Keith Partridge, he never really had the chance to truly show his talent. It happens to teen idols sometimes. I know that frustrated him and he was so type cast that he just couldn't shake it. I think it always troubled him because he knew he was talented but not taken seriously. He led a very troubled life after and I do feel sad for him in that respect. I still enjoy watching these shows once in a while so, thanks for putting this video up. I especially like this tune.
I never get tired of hearing David Cassidy sing. His music with the Partridge Family and his solo work will live on. RIP David Cassidy.
