You took the distressing far enough. The color would not be something I would pick, but you know, it works!! I couldn't sell that piece either!! I received my chalk paint brushes this week and looking forward to using them on several pieces to be used in my home. You did a great job and tutorial. Looks great I love it!! 💯❤️👍👏🙌👋
Looking forward to this Christina! I watch both you and Kacha! I I have been planning to start chalk painting this summer and I have watched the Waverly Curry colored makeover about 8 times now. It looks very doable as a beginner project. So I want to see how the work translates when someone else tries it.
You and Kacha doing companion videos.. it doesn't get any better than this!! Love how your piece turned out. It's down right drop dead gorgeous! It's all sunshine & happiness. :)
I know I'm late to the party but I love the collaboration. Have you done one with Katie Scott yet? Thanks for introducing her to me. You two are my favorites!
There are a lot of furniture pieces that need painting to be saved. But...When it comes to traditional Ethan Allen furniture I would recommend checking the vaue before painting. You might be surprised at the prices that untouched Ethan Allen furniture brings.
I totally agree. If the piece is in good condition, you should check out the value before you paint. This was not one of those pieces though. It was in rough shape and being stored in a garage.
I bought a chest last week. Such a pretty piece. They had it outside so it was only when I got it home and inside I realized it smelled to the high heavens of cigarette smoke. Yuck!! I was heartbroken and telling a friend about it. She brought over a bag of charcoal.. just the kind you use in your BBQ (minus the lighter fluid stuff ) and a bunch of paper plates. She made piles of charcoal on the plates inside each drawer, closed them. We'd had to move it outside it smelled so bad. She put several plates with charcoal under it and laid a tarp over it she taped down. We pulled the tarp off today (6 days later) & the smell is gone gone gone! In case anyone ever runs into this problem.
Love that curry color. With the slight distressed styling and waxed finish it is perfect to me. I want that paint to revamp a tall headboard in a spare bedroom that will have sunflowers and weathered barns in the wall art. So glad your channel was on my recommends last week. Also, thanks for linking Kacha's channel.
I need a piece for my kitchen. This could work. Beautiful. Thanks for the inspiration! Starting my 1st piece today. A 2 drawer side table for beside my desk. I have a few things around here to practice on then I'm on to bigger and better projects!
I love it. I totally understand when you say the yellow is out of your comfort zone. But I am so glad you tried it. You are an inspiration and I love your channel. 💛💛
Thanks Christina...loved your video and your piece turned out beautiful🌟 I am a Katcha fan as well and love you two are friends💕 looking forward to the Podcast Monday....think you two will have fun and will be entertaining for us.....thank you for sharing😊
I just started painting my bedroom furniture with Yellow Duckling and not really loving it. But...I've watched enough videos to know to just hang in there. Im watching this for inspiration and your piece came out beautiful! 👍
I think it looks amazing. I started where I think you were at in the beginning.... I HATED that color!!!! But seeing it finished.. WOW!! Just wow!! I am a mustard color convert! Can't wait to see more with you two collaborating. Thanks for opening my eyes to something new. Sincerely Lori K.
It always hurts me when I see someone distressing a beautiful job, but I get it, to each its own, right? The job is beautiful...not my color though. You always do amazing work. Thanks!
Hi, Is it necessary to sand and prime the furniture before chalk painting ? This is literally my 1st time and I got Waverly paint. I have an old ikea table.
I just did a mustard rocking chair with sunflower transfers (shout out to Rachelle Font, Monnow Lane Furniture). It was gorgeous, but mustard is not in my normal range of colors!!
Well I tried ordering the brushes and wax and it said there is no delivery system to my address. I live in Upper Peninsula of Michigan. We have UPS, USPS, FedEX and others. I wonder why they won’t send it to me. Thanks
That's weird. Did you try emailing customer service. They also sell on Amazon so you can try there. Here is a link to the project from my page. www.amazon.com/shop/christinamuscari?listId=1YOKW453SA6OK
I love your tutorials. I love this color and the finished look. I have a quick question - I am looking on the Walmart site for the Waverly paint and I see that some say "chalk acrylic". I thought these were water-based? Does that even matter?
I love it!! And I love her projects too she is so talented! I’m going to do a yellow painted piece for March endo awareness month! Oh and by the way what camera and tripod do you use? 🌼🌼🌼🌼🌼🌼
Thanks! I love that you want to do a yellow piece for awareness! I have all my equipment linked in my description boxes at the bottom Except my tripod is one I found at my parent's house. I need an upgrade on that. If I find a new one I'll let you know.
I need help!!! I started my first project with this paint... I’m doing chairs... I picked white (because I must hate myself).... and well I did the first coat and just kinda got it on.... I’m doing the Second and I’m seeing areas where it’s not smooth... like paint drips... lots of brush marks... I know I need to do a third for sure but should I sand it a little before the third to smooth it out? Or do the third and sand it lightly. I’m not really going for a de stressed look... but want a smoother finish. If you do recommend a light sanding what grit should I use? Should I do it now before the third layer or after the third layer? And... the chalk paint feels well like chalk... does the wax help it feel soft and smoother? Help.
I have just discovered your channel and your projects are beautiful! I’m curious if you have ever painted upholstered furniture, say like a chair? I’m interested in trying this. I’ve seen one other video where this was done. I would like to see more. What do you think about painting upholstered furniture?
Since the Waverly is an acrylic I’m not sure the wax is giving the same results as in is it really sealing pe say since it isn’t a true chalk paint. 🤔🤔 just trying to figure it out as I pondered using various paints but when I find out they aren’t true milk or chalk paints I change my mind
Yep, this is an acrylic, but whatever they've added to it makes it act like a chalk or milk paint. It absorbed the wax really well. I'm still a fan of classic chalk and milk paint, but this is a great budget friendly option for folks looking for that.
Christina Muscari thank you for the reply and info. Good to know as I was hesitant to try it. Next time I’m in Walmart I’ll buy a jar and give it a try 🙂
Hey, I live in the Nashville area too! Do you know of any places I can go to get old furniture in the Hendersonville or Gallatin areas? Thanks and love what you've done with that cabinet! 😁
Anytime you use chalk paint, do you have to wax it afterwards? I am about to do my first piece and want to make sure that I do the finish correct. Love your channel.
Love the color. You have inspired me to do my bathroom cabinets. I've always loved the chalk paint and the forgiveness it brings. For a guest bathroom would you do 2 coats of wax? Is that even possible?
For bathrooms, I recommend using a water based poly topcoat. Dixie Belle has some great options and General Finishes is one of my favorites, too. czcams.com/video/HjkOr5bkM0M/video.html
You ruined Ethan Allen???!!! Good coverage for no primer. The Jolie brushes look like they would be quite comfortable to use. I was doubtful, but it looks really really nice. Great Job!
I love yours & Kacha's videos. You both tend to do distressing on dark furniture. I have a classic oak buffet I want to distress. How do I achieve the darker distressed look with light wood underneath? Should I paint a darker color first at the spots where I'll be distressing? Thanks!
@thatshabbyguy told us yellow is usually horrible for coverage. I liked it for this distressed look, but if you want full coverage it is probably not the best color to choose.
Using a wet rag to wipe back the dust and see what it will look like waxed. I typically just dust it off with a clean paint brush or tack cloth and then wax.
Hi Christina, After watching you and Kacha I had to subscribe to your channel. I adore 🥰 the both of you ladies also you’re both amazing artist. Thank you!!!❤️
I hope y'all enjoyed our first collab! Let us know in the comments if you want to see more of me and Kacha together and what we should do.
My wife rolls her eyes at my new hobby lol 🤣. Thanks for the inspiration!!!
Paint the wife!
You took the distressing far enough. The color would not be something I would pick, but you know, it works!! I couldn't sell that piece either!! Wow, the piece looks amazing. You have inspired me. I want to paint all of my furniture now!
Victoria, it's so addicting!
Yes!! More collaboration!! I really enjoyed watching.
Nice, nice job! Love that you two worked together on this. Way to go😄👍!!!
So fun that you guys chose the videos that you did. I remember watching both way back when I started painting.
Thanks, Katie! So fun that you watched us. Love being part of this painting community with you and following your work!
I love Kacha and am watching all your videos.

This video will be perfect for you!
You and Kacha doing companion videos.. it doesn't get any better than this!! Love how your piece turned out. It's down right drop dead gorgeous! It's all sunshine & happiness. :)
Thanks, Zoe! It's the perfect spring piece. Who wants some warm weather?!?!
I know I'm late to the party but I love the collaboration. Have you done one with Katie Scott yet? Thanks for introducing her to me. You two are my favorites!

So glad to find this video! I’m gonna try it! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I so love watching you and Katcha. Educational and fun and funny at the same time.
Thank you, Belinda. 😊
I used this color curry and it is beautiful after I painted it within a week I sold my piece the person that bought it loved it❤️
You two are my favorite CZcamsrs and this was so fun to see you collaborate!! ❤️❤️
Yellow is my life-long favorite color. Beautiful! You did a great job!
That paint is impressive! It's hard to find a yellow that covers that well, with so few coats. Thanks for sharing 😊🇨🇦
Thanks for watching!

It feels good to try different styles, whether colour or music, and a fun idea to collaborate with your friend Kacha.
Hi Christina 👋
New subscriber here! You've inspired me to start a new hobby! Can't wait to learn! 😁
Thanks for subscribing. You are going to love painting!
that piece would look great with sunflower transfers too, it would add more charm.
Lovely. I would have never picked that color but it came out gorgeous
Me neither. It’s definitely outside of my comfort zone and I can’t get myself to sell it yet. I’m enjoying it too much in my home.
I love it. I totally understand when you say the yellow is out of your comfort zone. But I am so glad you tried it. You are an inspiration and I love your channel. 💛💛
Thank you, April! It was so much easier with Kacha's video encouraging me along the way.
You and Kacha are my favs ❤️

it so Nice color came out good
It always hurts me when I see someone distressing a beautiful job, but I get it, to each its own, right? The job is beautiful...not my color though. You always do amazing work. Thanks!
Wow!! That colour is stunning!!!
Thanks, Jackie. I think it's even better in person.
First time trying and first video I watched for guidance, thank you! Super easy and it came out awesome xoxo
Thanks.
Looks phenomenal!! 😍
Thank you.
Hi,
Is it necessary to sand and prime the furniture before chalk painting ? This is literally my 1st time and I got Waverly paint. I have an old ikea table.
2nd comment I also used the Behr wax but it has a very strong smell
I just can't with that color!
I just did a mustard rocking chair with sunflower transfers (shout out to Rachelle Font, Monnow Lane Furniture). It was gorgeous, but mustard is not in my normal range of colors!!
Do you just need to sand were you applied the filling not the entire the dresser?
This piece is just beautiful!
Thanks, Sean!
I freaking love it!!!!
Love!!!
It turned out very nice! 👍🏼👏
Thanks, Cecilia. ❤️
I wonder how a more sunny/ Caribbean yellow would look.
I am sure it would look beautiful!
It turned out beautiful! 😍😍
Thanks so much, Maddie!❤️
I adore this piece! Nice work!
Thanks, Gail! And thanks for being a subscriber for a year! ❤️
Wow! This looks awesome 👌 Why did you use the brush vs the roller on this project? Newbie here😅
Looooooove this!
I looove the color!
So good! 💛
Well I tried ordering the brushes and wax and it said there is no delivery system to my address. I live in Upper Peninsula of Michigan. We have UPS, USPS, FedEX and others. I wonder why they won’t send it to me. Thanks

I love your tutorials. I love this color and the finished look. I have a quick question - I am looking on the Walmart site for the Waverly paint and I see that some say "chalk acrylic". I thought these were water-based? Does that even matter?
They are acrylic, but they are water soluble as well.
Would it make sense to do a primer on that dark dresser before the mustard color paint?
You could absolutely do a primer if you wanted to
Beautiful. Is it real wood and you didn't have to prime this?
I’m ordering Joli brushes...are you using the large or small to apply the paint with? Thanks so much
I'm using the small in this video.
I love it!! And I love her projects too she is so talented! I’m going to do a yellow painted piece for March endo awareness month!
Oh and by the way what camera and tripod do you use? 🌼🌼🌼🌼🌼🌼

@ChristinaMuscari that came out FABULOUS!! So glad you agreed to go out of your comfort zone 💖.
Thanks, Janet! I had so much fun.
Wonderful!!!
Thanks.
Is the wax water proof?

Yes, you can sand it to smooth it a bit before you add the next coat. Use a synthetic brush and add water to reduce your brush strokes.
Christina Muscari I will do that!!!! Thank you so much. What grit to you recommend?
lovliesusie1 Fine grit like 200 to 400.
Christina Muscari thank you so much!!!!! I really appreciate that you take the time to reply. It helps so much!!!
Oh that “music” hurts my ears. You really don’t need the music. Just want to hear yoi🤦♀️❤️
videos do not need music
My husband hated it, too. 😂 My videos usually have more slow and quiet music. Just trying out something fun on here because of the bold color.
@@ChristinaMuscari let it be the last thank you in advance.
I thought the music and video was great! ❤️
Not that music please. !!!
Hey hunny your code: Inf- prettydistressed does NOT work on the website????
I just talked with Jolie and they fixed the code. Should be working now. Thank you!
Oh duh, I just read you are using the small brush..,ordering now.
Yep, small in this project. I have both, but the small is great for detail and big pieces.
I have just discovered your channel and your projects are beautiful! I’m curious if you have ever painted upholstered furniture, say like a chair? I’m interested in trying this. I’ve seen one other video where this was done. I would like to see more. What do you think about painting upholstered furniture?
I have but I only have a blog post about it not a video.
I’ve searched your blog and can’t seem to find it. Can you tell me the the name of the post?
Margaret Cavin www.prettydistressed.com/blog//2014/09/painting-fabric-with-chalk-paint.html?rq=Paint%20fabric

You don't have to wax or use a top coat but it's recommended to protect the paint/finish.
I love it!! My colors right now!! 💕💕💕 Question what did u spray the paint with, water??
Yes, water.
Love the color. You have inspired me to do my bathroom cabinets. I've always loved the chalk paint and the forgiveness it brings.
For a guest bathroom would you do 2 coats of wax? Is that even possible?

did You guys try blend Waverly chalk paint? to do the ombre effect? love it , thank you
I haven't tried blending yet at all. One day...
Do you have to distress chalk paint?
No you don't! Its all personal preference.
It looks beautiful. Did you use a topcoat?
Yes, Jolie Clear wax.
This piece came out beautifully. By the way, where did you get your long wood decor piece?
I got that at a local warehouse sale here in Tennessee.
😊perfect
Thank you!
How long does the paint take to dry?
Pretty quickly...around an hour.
👏👏👏👏👏
😊
Do you sell all of your pieces?
No, I keep a lot of them for myself or I'm painting furniture around my house. But I do sell them too.
So no sanding need?
No sanding needed with chalk and furniture paints.
Christina Muscari thank you saved my time
You ruined Ethan Allen???!!! Good coverage for no primer. The Jolie brushes look like they would be quite comfortable to use. I was doubtful, but it looks really really nice. Great Job!

You could do what Kacha did here. Use that dark stain on your existing finish and seal it. Then you could paint on top of that.
Omg! I love it! Never would have believed I would like a piece of furniture with that color, but it looks spectacular, so alive 😃👍!!!
Thank you, Lilian!
not a fan of waverly yellows, I feel it needs too many coats and the lighter yellow has a very strong smell.
@thatshabbyguy told us yellow is usually horrible for coverage. I liked it for this distressed look, but if you want full coverage it is probably not the best color to choose.
There is matte finish
Yes using wax gives a beautiful matte finish to a piece!
Nice job, probably won’t only work in Nashville! That was horrible, painful music.
I have watched some of Kachas videos. I don’t like all the gold and heavy colors.
I don't paint that way, but I really appreciate her talent and love to watch her work! ❤️ Her videos are really great and inspire me.
I love your work. But sorry. I hate that color.
Thank you. It's not for everyone. That is okay! 😊
Globes of paint is NEVER good. It should ALWAYS be smooth!
Beautifully done thanks for sharing this tutorial very helpful.
Around the 10 minute mark you say, “ I like that technique.” How is this any different than the distressing you’ve always done?
Using a wet rag to wipe back the dust and see what it will look like waxed. I typically just dust it off with a clean paint brush or tack cloth and then wax.
Talk too much
Thanks for watching.
I would never have chosen that color either. Ever. But loved the video!
End result was awesome.
Thanks!
Absolutely beautiful, I love it
Thanks, Cherie!
Hi Christina,
