Childhood poster car was 288 GTO still the most beautiful car ever, saw one as a 9 year old in 1986 and loved cars ever since

I owned an F355GTS for 18 years. The car was 25 years old when I sold it. I have had many cars and the 355 has probably been the most reliable with relatively low maintenance costs across the whole time, it has averaged about €500/year over the whole ownership. I drove that car all over Europe, did around 50’000km and it never failed to start nor did it break down even once. Only two problema, the interior soft touch paint went sticky about a decade into ownership and just before I sold it, the heater wouldn’t get hot (apparently diagnosed as a failed auxiliary pump up front). Anyway, the car was a pleasure to own and I truly regret selling it.

Arguably the finest sounding V8 ever made

I’m 46, I would buy a Ferrari for it’s looks alone, and the F40 is my ultimate dream Ferrari, but the 355 is the best looking mass produced in my eyes.

0 to 60mph in 4.5s and 190mph top speed is fast enough, I owned a matalic black 355 F1 Spider for ten years and still the most beautiful Ferrari.

On maintenance costs, it is interesting. I added up all my bills over 15 years recently. I bought a good one in the first place, but I've spent £32k over 15 years looking after it, including a few belt changes, new clutch, alternator, shocks, tyres and have the sticky bits sorted in that time. It's increased in value more in the time than I've spent on it. I've done 29k miles. They are very special if you can find a good one.

My childhood Ferrari was a Lotus Esprit. The British Ferrari. But seriously, when I was around 12 it was the F40. But once I was around 15 I knew the F40 was dreamland, so it became the 355.

To this day I still think the F355 is one of the best looking V8 Ferrari out there today. It still hold it's ground as far as looks are concerned. And the sound - oh my goodness, you just proofed how amazing it is.

I was born in '95 and my favorite Ferrari is the 550 Maranello. Mainly thanks to NFS 3 (and High Stakes). While I could consider myself one of the 'younger' audiences - wherever the line between young and old may be - there is just something about the pre-2000's cars that make me go: Wow, I want one of those. They have charm, unique character, a proper manual gearbox, not too much electronics. A real drivers car, if you will. Mind you, I have not driven ANY Ferrari, but I'd much rather have a go in one of the classics than a new and hybrid one, even though they are faster. A Testarossa, F355, 550/575. That's my kind of Ferrari.

Great video! I'm 60 years old - and I drove Porsches for 20 years. Than, in 2010, I bought my first Ferrari, my absolute Dream-Car: a F355 GTS in rosso corsa and leather crema nero, a 2.7 from 95. In my eyes it is the most beautiful and best sounding car on the planet. Would I ever give HIM away? NO, I'll keep this car till the end...BUT that will cost - time, money, nerves...till now average per year: 5000 Euro maintenance, parts and repair; 1500 Euro insurance, 500 Euro tax....

In answer to your poll, this was mine. My friends all lusted after the F40, but this was the Ferrari for me. Although controversially I wanted the targa in yellow.

I worked on Ferraris back when the F355 was new. They still remain the only Ferrari I like. Although not in F1 guise! Such a leap in quality and engineering compared to all previous efforts. The 348 was a bag of nails by comparison.

Always been the best looking ferrari to me, the pinnacle of the wedge shape with rounded edges 😍

The best thing about it is that doesn't look like some teenager fever dream like the F40/50 it looks exotic but not quite regular traffic. It is clean, simple and pretty. This and the 360 would be the only Ferrari's I would take instead of an 911.
