Thank you so much for sharing Nice to see a show business family -Allan and his son Jack with genuine love and respect for each other REALLY made it that much more enjoyable
One of the most moving versions of Impossible Dream you could ever see and hear. The boy is now doing it in his current show. Very well too, it brought the house down.
OMG...old times..amazing that Jack Jones had so much love/respect for this father...in so many of the videos on utube, he's always talking about his dad...getting teary...so beautiful and classy..thanks for posting..
The LOVE was glowing in that room! Impossible Dream excellante ^^^ Alan you made me tear and brought my heart to my throat. And Jack what a golden voice. I never knew Jacks dad was in movies with McDonald "Firefly" I liked the D. Seranade
Tysvm 4 posting this. I didn’t know Jacks father could sing let alone sing so beautifully. I never saw this show. Just watched them sing on an episode of “The Love Boat”. I enjoyed them so much I was hoping 2 find some more videos of Allan’s beautiful voice. 👍
I was one of those 1960's Marx Brothers fans who just thought of Allan Jones as an annoying interruption to their zaniness. Only much later did I discover that his song 'Alone' from Night at the Opera was a HUGE hit at the time. I must be getting old, because I really like it now myself.
You're not alone. When I was a kid I hated the musical portions of many of the great comedies of the Marx Bothers, Abbott and Costello, and Laurel and Hardy full-features. Like you, when I got older, I began to appreciate everything about these golden classics a little more with each year that passes.
@@dereklewis4321 this is another favorite from the early 1930's. Bing Crosby 'Temptation' = a song so besotted with hungry desire it makes modern 'love songs' look anemic beside it. czcams.com/video/N9cB1zYex4E/video.html
Nice to see Allan with his son but disappointed when they sang Donkey Serenade together. Allan used to have such a lovely sound and an almost British accent. When he hashes Donkey Serenade I almost cried. I remember the Firefly with Jeanette and it was fine then. Feeling sad.
+Melissa Mann Age comes to us all. At least Alan was still singing into his seventies, which is more than most of us can manage! We are none of us quite what we were at thirty.
The almost British accent might have been from his family, his father was a Welsh Miner who emigrated to America. Alan himself worked a short while in the coal mines.
Fantastic! Allan Jones is incomparable.
agree!
Wonderful. I'd never seen Allan in his later years, only in the Marx Brother's movie.
i'm so happy ive seen the two of them together.
Allan Jones is awesome!
And he nailed the money shot note at the finale! Magnificent! Bravo, Mr. Alan Jones!
amazing voice from the 1930s through 70s! love his tenor lines

hmmm That bought back my childhood.
The donkey serenade was my party piece
My father always talked about seeing Alan Jones singing "Donkey Serenade" as a kid at Radio City Music Hall, when Alan was in his prime.

I've had an audio tape of this since it was broadcast - great to see it again (and again). Unforgettable, wonderful!!
Man, that was magic. Just superb. Thank you so much for sharing this amazing clip! :)
Bob and Tom played "Donkey Serenade" on their show today and it's so bad it gets stuck in your head even though the words are impossible to decipher.

Over the top, but not in a good way. Sure he could hit the high notes, but his vibrato was shot...
Nice to see them together however.
When you reach that age, more than your vibrato goes.
