Well I wasn't sure what to expect with this one but was certainly curious about experimenting with some engine sounds and just the thought of a quad careening across the field making a complete racket makes me smile . Of course this is intended for scale planes but anyone who knows me should know by now, I don't have any planes apart from a stack of micro foamies that were never built because quads came into my life and non of them would carry this anyway.
So this will be getting mounted to a quad in the near future and see if I can scare some birds plus I might have a look at some custom sounds that maybe aren't engines. Suggestion for audio samples most welcome, I have a few already.

EU Warehouse (ESS-AIR Engine is available in our EU warehouse now, Use coupon sen8, price only $48.75 with free shipping service.)
Sound modules for trains, diesel models and now airplanes!
I wish it would fit on the T130 :)
Imagine that coming at you out of the bushes lol
What does it weigh with speakers?
About 120g without an extra lipo
That's awesome! I had no idea such a thing existed.
Believe it or not, my father has a tiny mp3 player and speaker to attach to his phantom loaded with helicopter sounds. This is way better though.
If he wants to try it on there i'm more than happy to give it a whirl. If you email me a helicopter sound he likes, i'll have a go at adding it one of the two spots.
I like the thought of a spec in the distance flying towards the camera getting louder and more ridiculous as it gets closer plus this is gonna upset the squirrels something rotten at sunrise in the park
You can load your own sound files into the ESS AIR?
My ESS Air module only has a signal wire. No earth or power wires. Cannot get the guns to fire......Any help would be appreciated
Sounds like it's either damaged or a different model if missing those. Any markings on it or pictures to show what it is you have?
I was thinking you can probably take your pos and ground from the main power or even an added BEC. If only signal wire, that must be what they chose moving forward. Knowing what model you have exactly will help
Howdy! :) Do you know if this system should run on a car setup? (you know.. with the neutral position in the middle of the THR range)?? :)
Hey man, I thought a man of your varied RC experience would have come across these before. Not that I had until recently but i'm not very car or plank orientated or experienced
You're gonna love this though, search 'ESS ONE' on the tubes for some videos of the car/truck specific one. Yes to throttle ranges, brakes, turbos and other funkery. Only a couple options at a time but due to the vibrating speakers, I think it's much more suited to a truck or big scale plane.

Ghehe neh.. Never really feld an urge to try them, but did come across them offcourse :)
However! I have the ESS-Air system here, and am trying to get it to work for a boat :P Yeah.. go figure huh? ;)
I do have it working now.. But It really doesn't like shutting up much :P hahahaha well.. I am actually o.k. with that...
DutchRC Adventures Yeah it idled constantly unless I calibrated throttle at just above minimum throttle.
A boat would be cool though if you can find the right sort of sound. I'd like some more range or resolution to the throttle sounds for a quad buts should be fun to play with if it doesn't confuse the FC due to vibes
Wellll.. regretably that aint it :) Even with a Large offset, it keeps on re-starting the engine.. Ohw well :P
I was hoping for a low rumbling V8 sound, but most in there a high reving :P I'll try that diesel truck first then :) (it's not a speed boat :))
Ghehe it would really be funny if I'd install in on my video-quad huh? ;)
DutchRC Adventures Don't you have a big T28 or something I have seen you fly? To be honest, I think it would be pretty funny on anything and the more wrong it is, the more funny. Every AP rig needs a machine gun lol
Good test for a gimbal anyway :)
in my module the gun in aux channel don't work. why?
WIthout some actual video of the issue and your complete setup it's impossible to know.
Could be setup wrong or might have come setup different from the factory since it's 3 years since this video
I mounted this system in a HK FW-190 and it does not work as it should. When I connect the powersource, the "engine" starts directly at idle and after a few seconds turns up to full speed. However I try to follow the calibration manual, it does not work. When I bring the throttle lever to full throttle, the engine noise turns down. Thus, it is completely backwards, except that the sound does not start when the throttle lever is moved upwards and does not end when the throttle lever is brought to idle. Something is wrong and I am very disappointed with the system.
If calibration doesn't sort it the reversed issue, perhaps reloading the audio files from the creators may help. I never did it but sounds can be created for it also, that may give you some leeway to get what you need.
Have you posted on RCG by any chance? Odds are others may have had this issue and found a workaround.
@@MicroRCFiendI found a video program on CZcams that described how to calibrate ESS-AIR. The manual that follows the product is completely useless.
When the module enters programming mode, wait 8 seconds before clicking "+" and set to idle mode for the module to set up. After another 8 seconds you press "+” again to set full throttle mode and the module goes out of programming mode automatically. BUT this is NOT completely true for after 8 seconds nothing happened (no" BIP "). I had to press the" + "button repeatedly to get "BIP" to continue to the next throttle position and do the same.
So luckily my ESS-AIR 2.0 audio system works.
Hmmm, kind of curious. I would want to freak out the great british public. How about a human doing an impression of a copter as an engine sound. You know "dugga dugga dugga" speeding up in pitch. And what about that sample from the ED-209 in Robocop about "I am now authorised to use deadly force" on the switch }:-)
That's a bloody fine idea, stick on a blue flashing police light and that could be quite scary.
You could definitely have some fun with that. A police "Drone" for people who don't clean up after their dog's at the part lol. Or have it play a warning a "Evacuate alien invasion evacuate"..... You might getting arrested, but it would be fun lol. Thx Dod.
