    I got one from a friend, just to try it out and I discovered that... You can set a custom white balance for this particular filter and then use it to shoot portrait. It gives an amazing skin tone.

    I was expecting to see a comparison between shots with and without the FLD filter in flourescent lighting

    It's a very useful filter for me, I'm frequently using it for some purple/violet sunsets since I'm not skilled in using Photoshop and Lightroom is not great in heavily modifying the color hue

    When you hold this filter in front of a cool white LED spot light, everything in the room gets a slight UV or black light effect. Some colours slightly change and become more intense.

    I got the cheap Vivitar filter set for free when I bought my Sony camcorder. I was wondering why I would ever need it. It didn't seem to do any good when I tried it out with some florescent lights.

      BS even using photo filter in PS it can never match real filter. It's good for blue hr/ dusk photos

      no, it is for people that still use SLR cameras. I use it on my old Minolta and Canon EOS when shooting in factory buildings. And I love developing my own films, seeing it happen, not prat about on Photoshop...

      Ditto -- but it's a nice gimmick for making DSLR bundles look like better bargains than they are ;-)

    The auto whitebalance in most digital cameras really don't do a good job in compensating for the florecent lighting . I just shoot raw and fux them in post .

    Nice tutorial. Well done. I do a lot of film rol photography. I know the fld filter. But not the many stops of the filter. How many are the stops of the fld filter?

    • @DigitalGojaUSA
      @DigitalGojaUSA  Před 4 lety +1

      You're welcome, Leendert Cordemans. The FLD filter would normally cut a full stop of light. Thanks for watching!

      yes - in front of a cool white LED spot light, you get a slight 'black light' effect as if you were using UV LED's from the grow lights.

      Digital Goja , but why it was included in kit? I mean is it in case I will need to use it on camera with film?

    • @DigitalGojaUSA
      @DigitalGojaUSA  Před 6 lety +2

      It still can be useful, but with modern software and built-in filters of cameras, this filter lost its use, we are not including it anymore in our kits.
