A little about me and this channel:
My name is James Aubrey IV and I just recently graduated college from Iowa State University. After college I decided to take a leap of faith. So I moved to San Diego California to pursue my passion for videography/ CZcams. Overall I'm a pretty chill person, outside of CZcams I like to longboard, dance, play video games, lift weights and hangout with my friends. I know that success on CZcams won't happen overnight but I'm willing to stay patient and put in the work to try to prefect my craft daily. This CZcams channel will be centered around my life after college. You will be able to see all of the ups and downs on my journey to success. So if you like the content make sure you subscribe so you can be apart of the Rome Life Family. (Let's build our own personal Rome's together.)
What is the Rome Life ? And What does it mean to be apart of it?
Rome Life is something I started during my Sophomore year of high school (one of the worst times in my life) it started off as me documenting my journey to recovery from my shoulder surgery but eventually it turned into a platform that I could use to encourage myself as well as others to chase our dreams.
Rome Life isn't just a saying it's a way of life and for the people who want to be apart of it have to realize that. Rome wasn't built in a day it took a lot of handwork time and most importantly patience. So you can't expect your dreams to be any different
This is a reaction video used to educated and give my feedback on the song and artist

I will go on record saying the BeeGees are one of the greatest bands of all time.
The first time a drum loop was ever used in a song. This was such a great time to be alive.
Yes disco was in the 70’s. Bell bottoms, platform shoes, very very creative beats and songs. The 70’s was a creative explosion in music...so many different styles and sounds. A good time for dancing 🕺
The American Heart Association recommends using the beat of this song as the tempo of chest compressions when performing CPR. I'm not kidding.
Yeah, I took a CPR course and they used that
When I taught, I had a loop of KC and the Sunshine Band “ I’ll be Your Boogie Man” 🥰
Same in the UK, cardiac arrest to a beat, could be worse.
Seems like,
*You're Stayin' Alive*
Unless you're Michael Scott from "The Office".
I was in high school in the 70s.
I owned all 3 outfits they are wearing lol.
😆
I bet you scored the ladies sir! That is too awesome
made me laugh out loud, I remember you guys!
Lol! I know my boyfriend scored! Became my husband!! And yes, all of what you heard is true! What the Bee Gee's did for me was hang up my pro ked sneajers
Hanged up my pro ked sneakers and switched it for heels and mascara! And you just felt the music and move how you want. More like a strut. ❤🇵🇷💃💕. That's what the Bee Gees did for me! It was 1977! I'd go back in time if I could!!! The best house parties ever.
the entire sound track to Saturday Night Fever was gold. Yes, the guys wore those pants that were tight and showed everything. (sweet jesus I miss those. You can't tell if a man's butt is toned in those damned baggy ass things) That gorgeous lion's mane of hair he is sporting became more and more pronounced, till the 80's big hair hit. Men and women wore heels, yes, only in the glam clubs did people do stuff like fish in their platforms to get into the best clubs in Manhattan. Fur coats, satin jackets, sequins, sparkles, afros as long as you could grow them... all of it was just glamorous. And it was FUN as hell!
n other words u were around back then.. i.was n that era but .... I.didnt fit n
You nailed it. I was a club DJ back then. Just so damn much FUN. The style, the dance moves, it’s was a blast. And from my POV spinning the music, controlling the ebb and flow of the night.
I was a cocktail waitress at a disco in Texas when they were still showing Rocky Horror Picture Show in theaters...lol.
@@toodlescae so, thats your current job then?
@@Crucent no that particular job was in 1980. I'm on disability but I'm also a certified paralegal since 1992.
Jive Talkin'....for me is the #1 all time Bee Gees song! The Brothers Gibb were gifted...there's no other way to describe them! The 70's were awesome!! Timeless!
You need to watch Jive Talkin’ if you like this one. You WILL DANCE!
Yes!!! Skating rink again
The grooviest!! ✌
Can't argue with this
Another vote for "Jive Talking" as a high energy song that will make you dance
Try You Should Be Dancing--it's FIRE
The opening scene of Saturday Night Fever with John Travolta to this song is ICONIC. I used to be a disco dance teacher- everybody did The Hustle to this. It was a line dance and a partner dance too.
This year they recreated it with Travolta as Santa. Look it up, it is epic.
Platform shoes??? Did I wear platform shoes?, look when you're 5' 6" tall in socks, and 6' tall in platforms, too right we wore platforms, and flares, bell bottoms, and our hair was just like that.... the best era to be a teen in, the 70's!!
Check out clips of Saturday Night Fever to find out how to dance to disco. Staying Alive and several other Bee Gees songs were on the soundtrack.
Hes got to have seen the movie, at least parts of it. Maybe even some Austin Powers too. No hate.
@@thissailorja lol he was doing the moves from the film in this video, I guess they transcend it to an extent but still
@@thissailorja It was even featured in the movie Airplane. For artistic purposes the creators wanted to speed the song up by 15 percent. They sought and received permission from the Bee Gees and/or their record company. Funny scene. Well, the whole movie was.
Forget the clips Watch the whole disco movie "Saturday Night Fever"
John Travolta dancing King
Welcome to the Bee Gees........they are one of the best groups.
You Should Be Dancing... I Started A Joke...Tragedy...Too Much Heaven...
Massachusetts....
All great Bee Gees songs. Please listen to more. And whether it's a fast song or a slow song they can sing it.
Another vote for "You Should Be Dancing"
YOU SHOULD BE DANCING!! is on par with this one.
These guys were geniuses before disco; and then they ruled that era. I don't know how they stayed so good.
Bee Gee were ALWAYS pure talent. No auto tune, nothing but them.
what is auto tune?
Hi, if you haven't reacted to it yet, check out the Bee Gees Jive Talking.
1977... the Brothers Johnson... Strawberry Letter 23... you will thank me!!!
Yes!!! The Brothers Johnson were amazing. Also, their song Stomp! and some other ones.
You will get some big smiles from us older folks if you have this cranked up at the red light!!!
"""JIVE TALKIN ""
YEs.
Still important to stay in tempo and rhythmical during CPR . Staying alive :)
I've used this many, many times....sadly sometimes had to switch to "Another One Bites the Dust" same tempo.🤕
Yes that’s what they tell us now.🤷🏻♀️
highway to hell also helps apparently
I used night fever.same beat
70's is the best, period. 80's close second. Proper musicians and artists. Such sole and production. Bee Gees, Rose Royce, Donna Summer etc on the Disco front then the big boys. Pink Floyd, ELO, Queen etc etc etc.
Band Maid from Japan is a proper hard rock band.
Air Supply, REO Speedwagon and Rod Stewart...but still listened to Donny Osmond...lol
Barry can really control his Falsetto and breathing 💯💯💯💯♥️♥️♥️😃😃😃👍👍👍👍🥰🥰🥰🥰
No studio voices, just great talent. Hard to beat the Bee Gees.
Go to Soul Train a show with disco dancers 💃 70’s was awesome
James if you want to know how to dance to this watch the film Saturday night fever it will blow your mind.
Or Airplane lol
@@JRAWJRAW for some Jive Talking, for sure!
"Would ya' watch the hair! I work a long time on my hair."
any kind of video showing dancing to disco would be helpful.
John Travolta’s dancing will knock your socks off!
I love every song the Bee Gees had sung. But I know for sure their music will always stay alive as in the song you just played. I'm sending my love out to Barry Gibbs and I mlss your brothers.
When you say "You don't know what they are expecting?"....you are talking in the present tense my friend, this has all happened, almost 50 years ago!! They became one of the most successful music acts ever, and their music will be listened too long after you and me have popped our clogs!!
I like how much The Bee Gees seems to finally be appreciated for their talent after all those years.
I was born in 1971 so I was a young kid during the disco era, but I remember wearing bell bottoms, head bands, beads in my braided hair. #70sforever ❤
I was born in 71 too & I remember wearing bell bottoms and big a$$ medallions... turtlenecks and vests 🤣🤣
@@prodigal71 Groovy! 😜
I was born in 76 and people were still sporting fros, bell bottoms, and lots of plaid. So much plaid.
WOW! I wore bell-bottoms late 60s through college. Yep! My era too, from graduating from high school (1972) , college, marriage; 2/3 of our three kids.
@@kayfey9544 Yep! I graduated from college in 1976. I have pictures of me in
bell-bottom pants, and an afro. Yea! So much plaid. 🤣
Saturday Night Fever. Great intro to disco. Bee Gees and others
Yo, your moves are disco smooth. it seems you have a disco soul, brother.
You already know! This is one of my favorite Bee Gees songs of all-time! #discoforever
The Disco era Styles were so fun and so wild! Take a look at the Movie Saturday Night Fever which is all about this Era and by the way the Bee Gees wrote the Soundtrack for and many of these songs are featured on it. This music appealed to everyone - you saw people of every economic background, color, flavor dancing it up at the Disco Clubs under the Crystal Ball! You know there were some famous Disco Clubs such as the Studio 54 in New York City. This era was fun and the songs were so danceable everyone was out on that floor - nobody stayed at home Saturday nights!
SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER, How does anyone not know about this movie or the many iconic songs, jeez ! Go watch it !
just loviing the BEE GEES .... KICK BACK and enjoy
LOL, you make me feel sooooo old when you keep repeating “It’s been out for so, so looong!” I’m like Jesus, it doesn’t feel like 40 something years!! Seems like just a Yesterday to me 😁
You'll love Earth Wind& Fire! Same era, and equally worthy of busting a move to!
Big hair, platforms and tight pants....ahhhhh ...the disco era!!!😊😊😊🎼🎶🎵💜
The Bee Gees were the kings of disco music. Their soundtrack to the disco movie "Saturday Night Fever" (John Travolta's breakout movie) was a HUGE. I was only 7 years old when it came out, but I remember all the music. Disco was popular from about 1976 - 1980, from what I remember. Disco is probably my favorite genre just because it's son intrinsic to my childhood.
Bee Gees " you should be dancing " it has all four brothers singing in it
"You Should Be Dancing" & "Nights On Broadway" are the top 2...IMO : )
"he look like just won a billion dollars..." "He steppin out with confidence"
Absolutely, 4 inch platforms, tight pants, bell bottms, mid drift tops, fluffy hair, haha. Dancing to disc was so much fun. Now we are all in our 60's 😁
You are right about the shoes. My tallest pair had a two inch heel and a half inch soles. My biggest bell bottoms could take a basketball. Those were the days. Ahhh polyester.😂
The Bee Gees "Nights on Broadway." My personal favorite of theirs.
Keith Caserta 1974! I got the single then! It was a ‘comeback’ hit, of sorts, for them, as they hadn’t had a hit in a few years (and of course had a few big hits in the ‘60’s). But of course nothing compared to the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack 3 years after this!
The Bee Gees were absolute masters of pop music. They're best known for their massive disco hits, because they hit their peak in the disco era (EVERYONE was recording disco in the late 70s), but they're really just a pop group. They write masterful pop hits, and only masterful pop hits.
Right. It's ,something. This is really what everybody is reaching for, but not reach. Bee Gees is still in front. Staying alive is what we are using when doing Hearth & Lung rescue.
Everytime I hear this song all I can think about is john Travolta you really have to check out Saturday night fever.
I love watching you get into the groove and smiling. 😁 This was probably their biggest disco hit, but you definitely need to listen to Jive Talkin'. Lonely Days is a great tune, too. Their material from the 60s and early 70s, pre-disco, and from the 80s onwards is totally enjoyable. They had a great ability to adapt to changing times.
And at 5:03, the little motion made by Mo is so typical of him! 😍
I have watched this video quite a few times and this reaction was the first time I noticed Maurice's 'hey all eyes over here on Barry!' gesture. I loved seeing it mentioned in this comment. I think k what I really love about it is that if I was a singer in a band I would totally do that when the lead vocalist does a particularly flashy part.
@@allybeetulk1457 Yes! I find myself watching for it every time. 😁
yes, so true
Watching you realize just how much you never knew, how much amazing music there is out there, it kinda fun. Thanks!
Jive Talkin, Fanny be tender with my love, nights on broadway, you should be dancing...there's a million more!
Fanny is my favorite of them all!
I loved your reaction to the Bed Gees , Staying Alive. I was a teen when this was released. The Disco Era came on the heels of the Hippie Movement. This was a change of style for them from ballads. You must watch the film Saturday Night Fever. Starting John Travolta in which this is the theme song. You will then see what Disco was.
Platform shoes, bell-bottom pants, long hair, open shirts with collars over the jacket. Those were the days......
Nights on Broadway - you will hear how brilliant Barry was as a Producer and Engineer.
heres another Bee Gees song youll like... 'More Than A Woman" and 'Tragedy'
Yes sir, Youngblood. The 70s was the dopest decade ever. The fashion, the music, and the SWAG! Probably the COOLEST 10 year period in human history.
OMG, this old lady remembers dancing to this song so many times. I still love it!
YES, YES, AND YES. I had a pair of suede platform shoes.
The best of Saturday night fever album is You Should be Dancing...also watch the movie...it's a vibe
First responders use this song to practice CPR. The beat is perfect timing for chest compressions. Glad you like this! I grew up in this era and I’m glad you are discovering our gold. Enjoy!
I'm 27 and beegees is my favourite band ever. Has been since I was a little girl thanks to my mum and dad
Jive Talkin’.
you should really check out the Saturday Night Fever movie starring John Travolta. the bee gees do the soundtrack and every song is a hit. and the movie is pretty good. John actually learned to do all the dances and kicks ass at it. disco Was in the middle and last part of the 70's... the goldfish platforms is from the movie " IM GONNA GIT YOU SUCKA" you gotta watch that movie its hilarious. some people may have put fish in their shoes, dont remember it being a BIG thing though
I'd love to see a cut of Travolta strutting down the street to this.
@@snakelite61 your wish is my command... czcams.com/video/XfwQ_7xqO7Y/video.html&ab_channel=JarNil
I read where the scene that he is dancing with the girl, was made up by them. The choreographer forget he had to come to work
@@brendawilson8208 could explain why the girls performance was so...lame? uninspired? i do get it that she's not supposed to be as good as travolta in the movie but seriously...
@@snakelite61 He was originally strutting to a song by Stevie Wonder, or Boz Skaggs (you probably don't know who he is). After the movie was completed, the director wanted musc a bit different to match the disco scene. In comes the Bee Gees. So, they had to go back to the movie and match 'Staying Alive' with his struts.
Lol...at 56 now, I grew up with disco and Bee Gees. I loved it!! My teen years were awesome! It is true. Platform shoes, bell bottom pants, flowing sleeve smock tops, the hair...etc. All of its true. And I miss it all! Such a simple time with great music and dances. I'd go back in a heartbeat! Platform shoes and all!...🤗💙🤗
Nights on Broadway and Tragedy are two upbeat songs you'll love. They have a ton of great songs through 40 years of music and you will get so many suggestions, it will blow you away. Storytelling through lyrics is a big part of their appeal [Gotta Get a Message to You... about a man on death row].
Jive Talkin is pretty cool!!!
LOL...."This might be the one....this might be the one".
the bee gees to me are the best music group ever , they have along everlasting list of hits . they once had 5 hits in the American top 10 chart , they have an endless list of everlasting songs , please react to ( the only love , you should be dancing , love you inside and out , paying the price of love , Dimensions , someone belonging to someone , the only love , wish you were here , tragedy , kiss of life ) .
I was anti-disco in those days but there's no denying that Saturday Night Fever was a masterpiece film. A time capsule artifact.
You should do Jive Talkin and You Should Be Dancing next!!
Please react to Bee Gees - You should be dancing
Disco, was dancing balls, high heels, big hair, fast dancing moves polyester suits gold chains chest hair its all true the 70's and 80's best music ever created
This song played for the opening credits of Saturday Night Fever as John Travolta strutted with his platform shoes and a can of paint. What I like about the Bee Gees is their variety of music. They also had a younger brother Andy Gibb who had some hits, was a teenage heart throb ,hosted Solid Gold and died at a young age.
Blondie - "Heart of Glass"; Donna Summer - "I Feel Love"; Gloria Gayor - "I Will Survive". If you want to know how crazy Disco ways, learn about Studio 54, the nightclub, which had the famous gigantic coke spoon art on the wall. The bad realities of cocaine hadn't hit yet.
James, you have to leave us a comment after watching "Saturday Night Fever"... If your happy with the Bee Gees music you've listened to so far this movie will definitely please you to no end :)
I was in college when this movie came out in 1977. The Saturday Night Fever soundtrack album was one of the biggest selling records of all times. And yes, we had platform shoes back then. I wore Famolares but I skipped the fish in the heel. You had to find a way to feed them!
Disco baby !!!
Yes bell bottom pants, platform shoes, Fun era to grow up in.
You need to watch a movie called Thank God It’s Friday to learn everything about disco!
Great choice! I still find it hard to believe that there are some people who have never heard this song! This was going to be my next Bee Gee recommendation for you. This was used in opening scenes of the John Travolta movie "Saturday Night Fever" czcams.com/video/Fa9n7GirhsI/video.html
Jive Talkin'! Jive Talkin'! Your new fave Bee Gees song. I promise.
Their song 'You Should Be Dancing', '- 1979 Live version. It is fantastic with their little brother Andy.
Eye of the Tyger by Survivor, Eye of the Tyger is the offical anthem to every collage team everywere.
P.S. if you want to learn how to dance to disco watch the movie Saturday night fever with John Travolta. Here is a clip with the Bee Gees singing You should be Dancing. czcams.com/video/LUID0jSh2Ic/video.html
The BeeGees are more than disco. Try Nights on Broadway
Platform shoes, bell bottom jeans, polyester, and yes... mid 70's was the disco fame and craze!! Farrah Fawcett hair for all!!!
The groove is undeniable!!
Please react to "That's The Way I Like It" by KC and the Sunshine Band (banger)
We did wear platforms, bellbottoms, polyester flowered shirts and feathered hair! No fish in the heels though. A spanish fly in my wallet maybe.
@byronanderson I do recall something, maybe because I was a girl, about goldfish swimmung in clear platform heels for a fashion mag photo shoot, but it's really vague.
@@noturtypicalgranny6900 💯 that what it was
Oh yeah, the 70s were wild and nothing was off limits when it came to the height of our shoes.
