- The Woo Tube Mini might just be the smallest tube amp available, and GoldenSound gives it the full run-down.

Great concept, but attached USB connector instead of removable cable is a huge inconvienience regarding the form factor in my opinion.
Get a quality USB extension and it'll be that form factor you want
The point of a static usb connector is to minimize vibration because the tube is sensitive to it. He says its sensitive to vibrations very clearly, its not going to help if its slapping against your phone in your pocket while you walk
The USB extension cables are included.

Got a bridge to sell you if you think that’s why it uses USB-A
ain’t buying that with that USB sticking out like that. it’s 2024 and these companies still don’t do their research
Interesting review , very detailed THANKS
Very interesting product. Good video. I wish you had reviewed the power dock as well.
I have both the TUBE mini and the Cayin N3 Ultra and I really like using both.
Thats actually really cool
getting one of these been passively using my imac pro 2017 output since getting focal clears
I really enjoyed this tube amp on its power dock using a Diana MR with vegan suede pads.
WOOOOOO! Tubes!
We chose USB-A because it is more durable. We tested USB-C and it could not support the size and weight of the chassis and the fail rate may be very high. We prioritize our products for reliably / durability over convenience. Also, USB-A can be converted to USB-C (included) or Lightning via Apple adapter to support a wider range of devices. Many computers (Mac Studio, Mac mini, gaming PC, etc) still have USB-A in 2024. Additionally, your high bandwidth USB-C or T3 ports should be reserved for devices that needs the speed / power ; audio DAC does not. ~ Mike
I get the idea, but I think having it built in at this size is just bad in general. USB-C makes it usable on a phone, but if that doesn't work it probably should have been a removable cable instead.
I think having a female USB-A would have been more beneficial with an included type a to type c or lightning. Relying on the USB for the weight is still pretty dicey.
a usb-c female on the unit with a soft cable would have solved any durability concerns - users of such devices (especially at this price point) are cognizant of the delicate nature of the tubes inside and would take great care when plugging and unplugging the soft usb-c cable, as i do with the fiio 17 and my iphone / ipad. the phone ($1600) and ipad pro ($2000) have sensitive usb-c ports themselves, no abuse there, no structure or durability issues, while the ipad pro is huge (13") compared to the tube mini. problem solved.
He meant female usb. You didn't want to do it for unjustified reasons. End of.
USB-C female would be optimal. Using a male connector on the device is... a bit silly.
Questyle m15 is a perfect implementation of this.
Nice review. How’s the bass with 300 ohm headphones?
i remember them saying that the reason it uses usb a instead usb c was simply because of durability
This is right
Which is the wrong reason to choose it. See my comment under the pinned one. The choice makes no sense from an engineering perspective and it is a pitfall other device manufacturers already learned from decades ago.
looks grate, how would u compare it against the Aune Flamingo its cheaper and could be a better entry point with the Flamingo having Bluetooth.
How are the tubes exchanged when done?
@GoldenSound how would you compare this to another warm portable source, such as the ifi DSD Signature?
Do you need to replace the tube?
I like the idea of having a portable tube amplifier but the problem I see is that the longevity of the tubes will mean that I will have to go through a technical service to change them and with the subsequent expense of money. Greetings from Spain.
I use the iFi IEMatch with IEMs. Way too much risk of blowing out eardrums :)
It’s very noisy and tingles whenever you touch. You can’t use it with a cellular device such as phone due to static.
I found the price far too high. Even its portable is still has issue, that’s why there is a base for it
I dont know of any other dac amp of this size that has actual tubs and not nutube. There are a few portable tube amps, but not all in ones. If this is somehow what you want, then it's the price to pay.
Please try replacing the opamp(s) of the little bear. I replaced mine with the burson 5i. The chance was substantial.
Who was the genius that designed that USB port positioning??! Dumb.
Recently I was asked by a young woman, 'Is that a tube amp in your pocket, or are you happy to see me' Thank you very much!
The headphone cables threat might be the most threatening thing I've heard in the headphone hobby
That will take hours of precious listening time to untangle... HOURS!
😹😹😹 Great Review Sir
i wish it would be available in europe
I love the TUBE mini with Diana headphones. The pairing is phenomenal especially at the price and convenience. With the addition of POWER BASE it is even better.
I’ve heard all Diana’s and they were garbage compared to The Composer and E3, not even on Clear MG level. stop promoting this shit.
I have the Diana V2 and I like it so each to their own I suppose.
So what do they sound like?
The little bear balanced portable tube (can't remember the model number) was good in terms of sound.... Especially with the op amps switched out.
Downside... poor battery life
Also downside is that you can't use it while charging.
cayin n3ultra says hello
Great idea, but this thing is very finicky in reality. The buzzing you get from switching outputs is a huge design problem. Even when following their instructions about how to do it properly
USB-A is a deal breaker
Translation, it sounds better than a boring linear SS amp
USB-A 🤦♂
No, my cables... 😢
That male USB-A is an actual crime holy shit lol
What the hell is that clicking noise in the left channel?!!!!!!
nah
that's not small, that's average. and I bet he's got a great personality
I’m sorry - this is just silly
Man! WooAudio products really are overpriced!
First!
No usb-c built in is a major turn off..!
This is the company that just blatantly copied Analog Squared Paper's portable tube amps. Zero respect for Woo.
I am already more than happy with portable tubes inside my $200 Cayin N3 Pro DAP, no thanks, not interested!
Am I first here?
this looks like a ridiculous product that is ultra niche even by audiophile standards ...this item is basically the same price as the cayin N3 pro ultra...I know which I'd prefer
Most tiny? Hm. If only there were a single word to convey this meaning in grammatically correct fashion...
I will never buy either of these. I really didn't believe the sound change or value would be any different than a 5 dollar dongle or a $100 Bluetooth DAC amp
Yea, that lie doesn't work when its with tubes. Bad luck this time.
Tube amps are dumb. We moved away from them for good reasons.
Old people are more dumb. We moved away from them for good reason, too.
What kind of portable device uses an attached USB-A connector? This thing costs the same as a BottleHead Crack and couldn’t even use an attached USB-C connector instead? Dude this channel has been losing faith with people that view the content or buy on its website because you guys just don’t seem grounded anymore… no pun intended.
Ridiculous price for people that don't know anything about audio.
