  • Alright, our turn to jump on the Magnet Fishing wagon :)
Here we run through our setup, starting off with a cheap and budget friendly 60kg (120Lb) starter magnet, some suitable rope and a few tricks to help out down the track.
Keep an eye out for future videos when we put this puppy into use ;)

Thread locker for the joint instead of super glue.
Also, the carabiner end should be used for tying off your ripe on a barrier or handrail. The magnet end should be secured by a decent knot such as the one you showed. Adding the carabiner to the magnet end just creates another point for it to become lodged whilst under water.

thank you for this video! I have been intrigued with magnet fishing but I don't think I am physically able to pull up heavy items though it does sound like fun. Realistically thinking I am an older woman and I don't have the upper body strength to pull up heavy loads like safes and gates. They would more than likely pull me in instead of me pulling them out :) It would make a comical video for sure though. I would be happy just finding smaller things. I cant wait to try this!!!!

      Thank you for your comment.
This setup was moreso designed for playing around with in the creeks and ponds.
Items expected to find are bottle caps, hardware (screws, nails etc) and maybe the odd knife or something interesting 😉
This particular magnet would probably struggle to hold onto anything large/heavy and would disengage very quickly which sounds like it may be the ideal size for you maybe? 😁

Keeping the manger strength down and get a cheap double sided Magent you won't be pulling in anything to big. And because you usually pulling at an angle and through other crap it won't usually attach at full strength..

So when I picked up my magnet off Ebay, it came with some thread locker. Is that for where you put the super glue or is it for the rope?

Sounds like it would be a great alternative to the super glue 😁👍

Palomar knot streight onto magnet. Your knot game is weak. Your creating snags for no reason

    • @TheFishingGuru
      @TheFishingGuru  Před 3 lety +3

      That's a bit rough Bro 😂
My knot is basic, versatile and the carabiner allows for quick magnet replacement should I wish to switch out for a drop gaff for example.
You'll notice our title states "BASIC set up" and clearly meant for beginners. Also, I feel that my knot game is quite strong given that we've built a career earning lots and lots of money off of our knots over the years 😉

@The Fishing Guru Didn't think you would respond🤣. Good vid though. I subbed too. Just think knot tight to magnet is always gonna be better but I'm novice. Love my angling here in England more than magnet fishing.

@@ryescott9445 The very next video CZcams suggested after I watched this one, said to use a Palomar knot instead of a carabiner to reduce snagging (czcams.com/video/N4-RHY8BaHc/video.html) and also said that a weak carabiner could bend under load.
The one showed by The Fishing Guru looked strong enough for the magnet and the screw lock would stop the gate opening and hooking onto obstacles, while allowing quick change of magnets or grappling hooks.
      Each method has its merits.
