- Don't get me wrong, the Aputure MC RGB lights are awesome.. but these, these are just better. In almost everywhere. So don't buy Aputure MC lights, buy these instead.

A better comparison would be the VL120 lights which run around $40. Very similar interface to the RM120s.

DId you mention that the Aputure is controllable via the Sidius Link app or even bluetooth, whereas SmallRig isn't? Also the Aputure is an RGBWW light, whereas this smallrig is just RGB, which explains why there are white led's leading to more accurate kelvin reading. I would abolutely buy the Aputure over this.
I personally think the app is useless for the MCs. And I would disagree as I believe the MCs have a lower CRI and TLCI rating. Not to mention that for me- I don’t care about “accuracy”, I care about looks and the RM120s look way better to me in every condition at half the price. But everyone has different needs. I didn’t mention the app because quite frankly it’s poorly made and hardly works. I’ll just stick to manual controls for a light that size. However, the P60x lights are fantastic. If the MCs were just bi-color i’d say yeah sure they’re “better” on paper but specs never tell the full story.
@@XXIVCONCEPT To say you don't care about 'accuracy' means you've obviously never used them in a professional environment before. You've also obviously never had to use several mc's for a shoot if you think the Sidius app is useless.
@@aaroncheater lol I can promise you in a professional environment no one gives a you know what about CRI or TLCI or numbers on a sheet. The director wants to see results. You don’t know me or what work i’ve done friend. :)
@@XXIVCONCEPT Funny, you don't know me or the work I've done either. And I'm not sure what kind of professional environments you've been on, but if you're lights aren't reading correctly on camera that absolutely affects how the image is going to look. Although at that point the DoP should have nutted out all the technical issues before even getting to shooting, so I do see your point in that the director shouldn't care because they wouldn't have anything to notice.
My point is you're not comparing apples to apples. This 'review' comes across as biased because your not representing the features and qualities of the lights that you're reviewing. Your just picking up one light, turning it on and saying 'ooh this ones brighter so it must be better'. You're saying you don't know why one light has white LED's and haven't even bothered to find out or explain why. You don't even mention the name of the light in your video's title or description, essentially forcing people to watch it to find out what exactly you're talking about. Just feels very half baked to me.

Nice video, but I think lots of feature u feel are gimmicky 😅 is why I am looking for portable lights. I think the app is handy , lighter to carry and most importantly not always locked in place and can be placed easily anywhere. I would still be in favor of the apature. I was hoping to see video where you only use portable light to light the scene . I am looking for lights than I can carry while travel and make it easy for me to shoot video anywhere
Try the SmallRigs. I promise you’ll be impressed. I agree though. And trust me- I love my MCs. But seriously spend the $40 or whatever and try the SmallRig. Return it if you have to. I’m confident you’ll like them.
@@XXIVCONCEPT thank you. I will give both of them a try. I think the Aperture is handy but based on all the reviews I checked eventually it will only work as back light for effects and not strong enough to be source of lighting like a key light. I can’t tell if small ring can pull key light but will try. $40 something dollar is nothing for a good light. Most high quality lights will break the bank for small CZcamsrs 😅
